I figured it out last night when in auto she'll cast valjyrie which at level 3 has takes it to 5 turns, matching her big flame spear skill one for one. When you max out flame spear it adds a -1 cooldown, thus causing these two skills not to be aligned and her throwing flame spear while not in valkyriea couple times losing major damage. Expanding on tip 2 and why it messes you up. Guild boss his first attack is single target thans he does aoe attacks. So if your counter attack gets out of sync to the single attack thans to magic touch, your missing rounds of attacks. Credits to a old vid from the Bull.

It does 100% but Nico can't mess up your rotation like Katherine can
