- If it gets the job done I guess it works. The method is sound the execution was sloppy. In this video I disassemble stuck seized pistons from a 1971 Honda CB 450 twin motorcycle engine. I had already tried the normal non-destructive methods of removal and had to resort to a more forceful method. Of course, I also made a mistake, but hopefully someone else can learn from it.
Hi Eddie. I thought I recognize d that crank. I had a 450 back in the80's with shot bigend
Hey Bill, thanks for watching. Yep, I deal with a lot of 350's and 450's. I ordered some material yesterday. Going to get started soon.
thanks for the truth....we`ve all done this
I take some heat sometimes, and get called a hack occasionally, but a lot of the stuff I deal with is rough, not pristine engines. The fact of the matter is that piston and cylinder sleeve were never going to be salvageable and I already put more time into the thing, trying the "right way", than it was worth. Thanks for recognizing that.
All the best!
Eddie
I had to wonder how I would have approached this one. Maybe strapped it's ass to the bridgeport and just mill out 90% of the piston and wrist pin. That cast cylinder head is some prime casting material. At least ya salvaged the crank so call it a win!👍
That would have been an excellent idea. I will have to try that if I ever get another like it. I can usually get them free, this one just beat me. Thanks!
Love that glove. duct tape work Wonders on a lot of things but it's not worth a darn against welding sparks
That's my harbor freight left hand chisel glove. The tape is extra padding for hammer slips. Harbor should sell them just like this because that is all they are good for. A spark burns right through them. 😀
Now you have to get a new door stop;
Lol, I have a few more laying around. Just go out to the big tent and pick your flavor of doorstop. Japanese, English, American, Spanish, I got them all. Guaranteed to make all your doors a pleasure to use and a joy to stop.
**Side effects may include stubbed toes and/or tetanus.
@@theeddies "Door Stop believing! Hold onto that feeling..."
Lol, nice one!
@@theeddies Did I send you a really small C clamp?
No, I don't remember anything like that.
