      Just did this on my '16 Tacoma. While the Wifey kit is convenient, it uses off-the-shelf parts that cost about $140-150 if sourced separately and currently costs $360. Spend a little time online sourcing the same parts and save yourself about $200. I also eliminated the $45 Rago "air mounts" by using existing holes and making a couple new ones for the schrader valves.
      I simplified the setup a bit by using push-to-connect schrader valves typically used for inflating air bags instead of the 4-part units in the Wifey kit. They come ready to mount. For the front, I used existing holes in the hood rail up near the hinge. I have to open the hood anyway to monitor the air pressure and turn the compressor on, so it made sense to put them there. For the rears, I drilled a small hole in the frame in a convenient spot just big enough for the valve.

    It is kind of amazing people are still using these small battery powered compressors when you can put together a 10 lb CO2 tank system and it will blow away these portable compressors. It will be significantly faster and using a ball valve, there is no trigger to hold down zip ties or otherwise. It is not even close. Another benefit is you can use the CO2 tank to power air tool either on the trail or in your garage.

    • @sponsoredbywifey
      @sponsoredbywifey  Pƙed 3 lety +3

      I’ve had many customers switch from CO2 tank to wifey air. The reason for the switch was unlimited air, less cargo space taken up by bulky tanks and it’s only 5 - 6 minutes to air up all 4 tires which isn’t that bad. Electric tools is a good option if you need to bring power tools along. They did the pros and cons for both systems and wifey air was their choice. CO2 might be the fastest but Wifey air is more convenient.

    • @josephchan7040
      @josephchan7040 Pƙed 2 lety

      I was researching this, and while I don't know for certain, I don't think the couplers are protected after you release air from the system (depressurize the manifold).
      Looks like you need to have a longer hose for the spare, or you need to add an additional npt output to allow a hose to be run.

    • @sponsoredbywifey

      They use the same caps as your valve stem caps on your wheels. Do you use a water sprayer on your wheels before you air up? All you gotta do is unscrew the cap and should be clear. It’s been over 3 years and I’ve had no problems with mud clogging.

    I purchased this kit and recently had it installed. When I connected all of the hoses and turned on the air compressor the gauge pegs all the way over and the relief valve would open every couple of seconds. After doing some troubleshooting, I can confirm that air is definitely going to all of the schrader valves in the wheel wells, but it's not passing through the air hoses. It seems the air chucks that came with the system are not functioning properly. I tried every hose to make sure it wasn't just a single hose or air chuck. Is there a better air chuck I could use?

    • @sponsoredbywifey
      @sponsoredbywifey  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      Something doesn’t sound right. Gauge shouldn’t peg all the way over, usually in the 30-40ish psi and the relief valve shouldnt go off that much. Did the spring rate get changed to 100psi? The air chucks I use are the haltec locking air chucks. You can check the link in the description.

Just a note, when I turn on the system with no air hoses connected and press the center pin in on the schrader valves in the wheel wells air comes out and the relief valve does not blow off any excess pressure, so definitely seems like it's the air chucks.
