It’s easy, no one wants to join the circus. All the free agents have seen how the Lakers have handled everyone but AD and Bron over the last few seasons. They join, they know they gonna get the blunt of the blame if things go south. Aging roster, young coach, superstar with son on the team, unrealistic expectations, that’s a hard pass by most.

California taxes made the Dallas deal better financially. Klay doesn't like LeBron and that's the most likely reason he chose Dallas, a team that was just in the Finals as well.

Besides AD & Bron even in the Kobe era, no NBA players wants to play for the Lakers.
Many did want to play there and an example of that was blocking trades you see how fast Stern blocked Chris Paul from going there. Big market teams like those are hard though Spotlight on you and they have the prayer they prioritize that gets all the praise and in Lebron case none of the blame. Kobe was pained as a villain.

He also elevated his outside shooting for 41% last season. If they can get consistent play from AD and Rui, consistent shooting from AR, and smarter play from DLo, then LeBron can play a Kyle Korver role for 20mins/gm and in important or close games he can turn into his old downhill self.

lakers lack continuity. their roster is actually good they just wind up gutting it 2x/year at the trade deadline and offseason. it doesnt give them a chance to gel. thats why their younger guys shine when they get traded to other teams. possibly the best thing for the lakers is the ability to run it back with more experience.

@@cmn225 if the lakers get back to focusing on size and length like when they had ad+dwight+javele together on the floor or even keeping the pressure on coming off the bench with 3 athletic bigs they'll be fine. that was and still is the recipe for success in this league that shoots the 3 at a high volume but for some reason they decided to change the ingredients.
