- A train ride from Colombo to Nanuoya (for Nuwara Eliya) in Sri Lanka's tea country, in the first class observation car of the 09:45 train from Colombo Fort. For practical information on train travel in Sri Lanka with train times, fares & tickets see www.seat61.com/SriLanka.htm. One of the most scenic train journeys in Asia, it cost just £5 / $8.
This is one of the world's nicest train rides. I explain the practical side of how to do it at www.seat61.com/SriLanka.htm, and you can see more photos and info about the journey at www.seat61.com/colombo-to-tea-country-by-train.htm. If you visit Sri Lanka, definitely take this train!
Thank you for your videos, Mark. I like how you let the scenery and experience speak for themselves without adding your own opinion. Your presentations are pure, simple, and vivid. Truly "see it for yourself." Great work!
Thank you for again a beautifull video.
Beautiful, Mark! Greetings from the Netherlands :)
It's awesome to see windows without bars, proves the improved law and order situation in the country
Sri lanka never had bars on the windows. Most Indian trans still has those.

You are doing the one job I love to do forever.
Thank you for uploading this! Kinda missed home after watching this :) I used to be one of the kids on the side of the railroad tracks who'd love watching the trains go by.
One of most scenic train travel in the world it stunning landscape sri lanka
nice, the train condition ain't that bad, interesting to have back facing seats, are there other trains like this?
Either the microphone you used on this trip was more sensitive, or - I’m guessing … it was simply a somewhat noisy train?
Wonderful carry on
didnt you visit sinharaja forest?
Tempting...
Thank you for the recording and uploading this video!
Is there any particular policy in place who is allowed to sit at the 2x2 seats are the rear panorama window? I have noticed that the passengers, sitting there, keep changing. Is it First Come First Serve or what?
+doc7austin If you book first, you can get those seat numbers.
