  • In this video, Eli addresses one of the most important parts of your nursery - the diaper pail! We always believe in durable, high quality products; but trust us, when it comes to diaper pails you'll want to invest in one of the best. Nobody likes a smelly nursery.
    Here, we're comparing two of the top models today: the Ubbi Diaper Pail to the Diaper Dekor Plus Diaper Pail.
    NOTE: The Ubbi Pail is made of steel, not stainless steel as we accidentally mentioned in this video!
    Order your Diaper Dekor Plus from Magic Beans: www.mbeans.com/dekor-diaper-p...

    For anyone interested in the Dekor, Eli mentions you have to use the specific bag insert. You don’t, a standard trash liner fits perfectly as well. We use a trash liner in one of ours and then fill it with other trash on the way out for trash night 😀. The liners are also great and not super expensive. We love the dekor pail!

      Thank you for this comment. I also saw someone else (from another comparison video) say that you don’t need to use their specific bags. Glad you confirmed this. Because the Dekor is less expensive and with your confirmation of being able to use regular trash bags, I’m going to just go ahead and buy the Dekor. Thank you again!

    We love our ubbi! Going on 28 months now and still no smell! I’ve never found it to be an issue to bend over and put the diaper in the pail. If there’s a really stinky diaper in there it does smell when you open it to put the next one in but only when it’s opened. As soon as you close it again, it doesn’t smell anymore. And I’ve NEVER smelled the diapers in the room. We use our regular garbage bags and we only have to change it about once a week (keeping in mind my son in almost 2.5 and is not going through diapers like an infant lol) I can’t remember how frequently we changed it in the beginning. But it’s so nice to just be able to use our regular kitchen garbage bags. Really cost effective. Ubbi also makes a cloth pail liner for cloth diapering parents!

    The Dekor also has a cloth sack that fits perfectly so you can use it for cloth diapering too. We’ve also found regular 30 gallon kitchen bags work in the Dekor if you run out of refills.

    God Bless you for this comparison! I have a 5 month old now, but God Bless it, I watched my 2 year old niece and whatever died inside of her body and then came out... I just know it’s a smell I do not ever care to smell again, and compared to my 5 month old breast milk fed baby, I realized how good I have it right now. I have another popular “magic carpet ride” type of pale and unfortunately my nieces diaper was the first in the start of a new bag. Top on pale closed... I could still smell it. I was ready to throw the whole pale away and just start over. This looks like some great new options to think about as I clearly have a few thousand more diapers to go! Love this channel, love the realness of it! Keep these nursery room comparisons coming!!! I love it!

    I've got an Ubbi and it definitely does smell eventually. Every time you open it to put a diaper in (unless it's the first few diapers you put in or there's no poop) it will smell. When you change bag also. It is nice to be able to use any garbage bag, though. Bending over to put the diaper in doesn't bother me too much. I have found that the opening can seem a little small now that my son is almost 2.5 and his diaper are bigger.

    We have the Ubbi and it STINKS. My friend had a Bubula and hers didnt stink, at least not this bad.

  • @christophers.8553
    @christophers.8553 Před 5 lety +8

    The Ubbi is not made of stainless steel (see 1:20 and 5:30). It is made of regular cheap rolled carbon steel. That is why it DOES rust and corrode. Stainless steel doesn't rust, at least not easily. That is why they call it stainless (or rostfrei in German, which means rust-free).
    The metal in the Ubbi doesn't hold an odor, but the plastic parts eventually do and it can be pretty awful. Plus the seals on my first one failed at about the 20 month mark and odor started to leak out.

    Why is there a liner when a bag is being used? The full rim wasn't shown when changing the liner. Thanks for an informative review.

    • @MagicBeansVideos

      Hi Killian! Are you asking about the Dekor pail liners? The Ubbi uses a regular bag and the Dekor uses a continuous liner that you cut and retie as you use it. I hope that answers your question!

  • @MomCheeto4
    @MomCheeto4 Před 4 lety

    It seems (at least with the Diaper Dekor) it's the weight of the diaper that really "opens" the door to allow the diaper to drop into the pail/bag, so I'm guessing if you're tossing out tissue, toilet paper or wipes, you'd have to manually push those items in...they wouldn't have enough weight to just drop in?

  • @RyanGill86

    Just bought my second Ubbi. We previously had two diaper genies -- the old Elite 2 everyone raved about and the new Complete everyone hates -- and both stunk and/or broke. So we stitched to Ubbi... But I mistakenly tossed a poppy diaper in the ubbi before we had run out of genie bags... So the Ubbi sat, unused, with a soiled diaper for 2 or 3 months. It never recovered. 🤮 I sprayed and cleaned it, not realizing if was not to get wet, which causes rust and probably mold, making it stink even more. I thought about going to the Dekor or Munchkin, but the cost of the special bags for the Munchkin gives me pause (as does squeezing the diapers into the pail's sphincter) and I've seen mixed reviews on the Dekor. This time around with the Ubbi, I'm going to use the Arm and Hammer Heffty trash bags, use arm and hammer deoterizing pods, and the hange the bags 3 times a week, as well as wrapping poppy diapers in grocery bags before they go into the Ubbi. Figured it would help.

    I wish I had seen this video before I made my purchase. I'm a sucker at look and went for the really expensive Lionheart. I loved it so much for about 10M, and every mom who came to my house wanted one for themselves. It was all love until my son could stand and put his hand through the opening valves. He loves to put his toy and sometimes his food through then pull back out and munch on them...The Lionheart diaper pail is a total nightmare now and has relocated to our laundry room where my son can't get to. Sigh.

    I dont like our dekor pail which we have been using for cloth diapers for 2 years. The first couple diapers is great but once it gets remotely full (quickly fills with cloth diapers) the flap doesnt close properly because the diapers keep it suspended and then the flap is pointless. Going to be buying an ubbi for the next child.

    80 dollar general trash bags for 10$ should last you about a year (1 child lol), that savings alone pays for the ubbi imo, really a no brainer. Just dont forget to shut the hatch lol.

    Will the plastic on the dekor smell eventually? I am looking for a diaper pail for my next baby and I was going to get the ubbi didn’t absorb odor because it’s metal. Is this correct or am I being crazy? Lol

    How about STOP buying plastic - for the environment?
    I've used the stainless steel Ubbi for years and it's the best! No special bags - and seals in odors perfectly.
