      I fully agree as well - Walt Disney, the man, was a very patriotic American - the Disney corporation which (did not) follow the legacy of its creator has turned against Mr. Disney's convictions and traditional beliefs. How sad, how low it has come, Ciao, L

    I can't even count the number of times I have watched this movie....and everytime i watch it I get the same exact emotions i had when I watched the USA olympic team defeat the soviets...its unreal how the producers and directors and actors totally got it and were able to create a movie that was that much on point...even the game itself...was accurate and gets me charged up everytime!!!..they created some other movie called miracle on ice just a few years after the actual game..and it came far short of capturing those emotions...Miracle definitely got it from beginning to end..and yeah watching kurt russel was just like watching the real Herb Brooks ..thankyou!!!

    My mother watched this game and she told me when Al shouted do you believe in miracles, everyone watching the tv didn’t hear his own answer because they all screamed yes at the same time he did. There may never be a moment like that again.

    I grew up in rural New England where we every school day started with a prayer and this pledge: ""I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.". On Fridays, we would sing the National Anthem, we all stood up, we all had classes on "citizenship". No body, I mean no one ever "took a knee". I remember classmates lifting one of our students because he wore a full leg cast so hie could "stand up" for this tradition. That was and is what America should be all about. May God bless America! Ciao, L (Veteran)

    Of the 20 skaters, 12 were from Minnesota. I played HS hockey in MN and am about the same age as the players. I cant' begin to express how much pride I have in our state and their accomplishment.

      I was 15 at the time of this game. And the next day our team was playing for the state title. I was Jack up and scored the 2 first goals the first min of the game. Our team won 9 to 6 and we celebrated like there was no tomorrow. No I didn’t get a hat trick but I had 2 goals and 2 assists. We won that’s all that mattered. I have that poster of the USA team still in my game room

    As a kid that grew up in Minnesota idolizing the University of Minnesota hockey team, the 1980 Olympic team was extra special to me and so many of my friends. I was in 7th grade at the time and several us watched the game together, luckily avoiding any updates on the results as we knew the game was tape-delayed. When the game was over we ran out into the street running around and screaming, and our parents let us all play street hockey until well past midnight before finally calling us all home. It's a moment I'll never forget and I've watched Miracle at least 20 times.

    I'm in my 70's now. I remember those two weeks like it was yesterday. Stiil cry every time i watch it. One of my biggest regrets has always been NOT having gone to Lake Placid to witness it. I still recall the night they tied Sweden, thinking that "something" was going on here that was bigger than all of us. If only i had listened to my premonition.

    • @zg1000dru1
      @zg1000dru1 Před rokem +5

      Stiil cry every time i watch it. ---You and me both brother. I was 14 years old. For those who weren't alive at the time; who weren't here to know just how deep in the shitter and depressed we were as a nation--reeling from Vietnam, Watergate, The Oil Crisis, inflation out of control, hostages in Iran. It was, as I'm sure you know as as no one born after can know, a dark place. Even I knew it at my age. We felt like there was no hope for us; no future. And then, as God is my judge, this game happened and what they say about it lifting us all is just no exaggeration at all. It all turned around.

    Ryan Walter, the technical advisor in this movie, is a star with Montreal Canadiens from 1982 to 1991, he was in the trade who send Rod Langway, Craig Laughlin, Brian Engblom and "Ironman" Doug Jarvis to Washington Capitals in September 1982 with Rick Green. In the movie, he wear a referee sweater for the USA-USSR semi-final game

    Walt Disney, the man, was a very patriotic American who promoted rather strict conservative principles and values not only in his productions/creations but in his lifestyle as well (I wrote my college paper ~1970, about his life and was fortunate enough to interview some of his associates). The Disney Corporation which (did not) follow the legacy of its creator has turned against Mr. Disney's convictions and traditional beliefs; it no longer represents Walt Disney's vision of a "better world", it is now about money and political power. How sad, how low it has come, Ciao, L
