Shame on EVERYONE who knew he was in that condition and did not help him! I hope you're proud of yourself! Shame on the bar that put him out ALONE in that condition! EVERYONE..even his fraternity brothers said it was not typical for him to drink or ever be in that condition! So then WHY did at least one of them not insist on accompanying him to ensure his safety? SHAMEFUL!

All the hateful people saying he was a grown man no one is grown at 22 and the drinking age is 21 so you've barely been drinking and you don't understand how just 4 oz of something can make you inebriated. It should be against the law to kick someone out of an establishment that you think is too drunk to belong inside than they're too drunk to be walking around a strange town by themselves

Exactly why was a cab not called or why his friends didn’t take him back to hotel or leave with him.
I’m heartbroken over this. I pray that Riley’s story will raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and the importance of staying together and being vigilant about our surroundings 😢🙏

Oh Lord, please wrap your loving arms around Riley's Mother. I lost my son and still do not know what happened. Like Riley, my son called me several times a day. It kills you. I would have gladly taken my son's place. I am sure his Mother would too.

If I live a thousand years I will never understand how his friends let him go alone! God Comfort his family, his friends, bring them all peace, and especially the one who walked downstairs when they were kicking him out of the bar and then chose to go back with the rest of the friends instead of leaving with him. THAT person is going to live with that for the rest of their life.😢
The friends need to be held responsible for neglect, the bar, I say shut it down, hold them responsible for letting him go without help, I’m just furious today, this young man should be with his family today…too much of this is happening 🩷✨

The lesson in this is you don't let a friend wander around a large city drunk. One of the friends should have taken one for the team and escorted Riley back to the hotel. Of course, that would have been an inconvenience to their good time so no one did that.
They all were drinking, pre game at the hotel, went to multiple bars? None of them knew what they were doing. They were all probably drunk. I got drunk before and know what happens. I walked the wrong way for blocks before I realized I went the wrong way. I got lucky. Can't blame a group of kids drinking all day.

So upsetting. If someone just called 911 when he fell or was seen stumbling down the street. I would have. There were cars near him when he fell...I cannot understand people anymore. I've called ambulances for people that seemed like they were in distress and or incapacitated...

*** This has to be one of the most difficult things a parent will ever have to go through, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family in this most difficult time. ❤ ** There are a lot of dangerous areas around that area that should have fences up to help keep people from falling off of the cliffs, hills,edges,sidewalks,etc.
Where was his fraternity brothers when he was kicked out of the bar ? . You go out with friends, you leave with friends. They are somewhat responsible to what happened, because he wouldn’t be dead if someone left with him

The main lesson to all friends, never let your friend leave alone when either intoxicated drugged etc. take them home and make sure you stay with them. Don’t put them in a uber and carry on partying. Some many young lives have been lost, because they have been left alone or sent in an uber and have never made it home. True friends will always have your back. I’m a mother too and young son, and can’t stop installing into his mind, that you never leave your friends alone. Rather call us his parents and we will collect and take them home, no matter how drunk or drugged. Please inform us your young men. Even if they are in college or house parties etc. always look out for each other. This is heartbreaking for his parents and friends.RIP Riley. God bless his parents and siblings. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Sounds like a drunkin accident. His "friends" are trash. I've been in a situation plenty of times where myself or a friend was asked to leave a bar, not once do I remember letting or watching them leave on their own. The whole group always leaves, either go to another bar or get that person home. I hope people here this story and never send a heavily intoxicated friend out onto the streets alone, especially if you're in a city that person isn't familiar with. Sad, that kid had a very bright future.

When I tended bar I didn’t allow people to leave the bar trashed and would find them a ride home because my boss told me I would and they would be responsible for over serving if a wreck or death . Don’t know the laws there though

i don't understand how his friends could have allowed him to leave by himself when it was so clear from video that he was in no condition to be walking around a strange town by himself trying to find his hotel. He would have been a prime target for mugging at the very least, or for stepping out in front of a car. It should have been clear that he was primed for some kind of tragedy to befall him.

you are absolutely right. we live in a world where someone like this is a target. no one is looking to help you. i have been there myself. Sexually assaulted, given drugs, yet walked home. this shit happens, and people who are in the streets are waiting for the easy targets.
He still had the shirt on he was wearing, they said at the press conference. So that "sighting" of someone with Riley's unique shirt worn by a homeless guy on a bike seen by a homeless advocate was false or the advocate was mistaken. Poor kid. R.I.P. It was just a matter of time before they found his body...better to have found it than not. No signs of foul play means no obvious physical abnormalities found on him, like he was strangled or a big gash on his head...at least he probably just drowned, poor guy. God bless. This should be a cautionary tale.
