    Zatar or Sumac or paprika
½ 285g strained jar roasted peppers
    corn salad
salade de carottes rapees in French! oui oui!)
take 6-10 medium carrots, peel them
grate them ( on a grater or in the food processor!) we like to grate them finely
add some lemon, salt pepper, cumin, garlic, balsamic vinegar and sugar if you feel a bit more sweetness is needed!)
mix the vinaigrettes, toos, mix and set aside until ready to be used
Salade de carottes cuites ( moroccan cooked carrot salad)
    use 6-10 carrots
put them in a steaming basket with about 2 cups of water at the bottom of your pan, let it poil for about 4-6 minutes
carrot and zucchini salad ( i double the recipe)
1 zucchini (small, about 6-7 inches)
    1 carrot (medium)
    Sesame Ginger Dressing
    1 tbsp sesame oil
    1tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp lime juice (from 1/2 lime)
1/2 inch piece ginger , peeled and grated
    1 garlic clove , minced
1 teaspoon sugar or honey (optional, skip for a low carb version)
Salt & pepper , to taste (about 1/8 teaspoon each)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds , toasted (optional)
    fish:
    fish nugget
    2 eggs
    2 tsp lemon juice (optional)
2-3 tbspof parsley ( you can replace with 1-2 tablespoons of bread crumbs if you do not like parsley 🌿!!)
10 tbsp bread crumbs gluten or gluten free
3 (5 ounce) cans tuna, drained
    3 tbsp diced onion (optional)
    1 pinch ground black pepper
    2 tbsp vegetable oil

    1-2 tsp paprika
    1-2 tsp of garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
    stuffed peppers
1 1/2 cup of cooked white rice (from about 3/4 cup raw rice)
4 to 6 bell peppers, any color ( I like using the yellow, orange or red one as they are sweeter) 5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 medium yellow onion, peeled and chopped
1 clove garlic, peeled and chopped
3/4 pound minced chicken ( you can use ground veal, turkey, chicken, and for a meatless version your can use vegan ground beef)
1 cup chopped tomatoes, fresh or canned (I like using canned because they are so easy: if you are using canned tomatoes , drain the liquid first simply leave it in a strainer while you are preparing the rest of the recipe!)
1 tbsp chopped fresh oregano, or 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

I will never shop for food the same way again! I can’t believe what I have been consuming all these years! I know the FDA/Health Inspectors allow for a certain amount of bugs, rodent hair and feces in our packaged/non-packaged foods, but seriously? Your food inspection is so time consuming, but now I see the necessity for it. Not only does it keep your family Kosher, but healthier. Kudos to you! I hope (I know) your family appreciates all that you do.

I am a Christian fan of your wonderful channel. We live in the Southern USA and eat what we call Crowder peas. They are also called cowpeas I hear. I grew up in a neighborhood with many Orthodox Jewish neighbors. I would sometimes help out our neighbor, Rabbi Silverstein, by turning on the window fan or lights on Friday afternoons. I loved my neighborhood.

Shalom, Shalom Sara! I’ve only recently become a subscriber to your channel, but I have taken opportunities to share my excitement about it with some of my family.
According to 23 and Me I’m about 3% Ashkenazi but I proudly claim every drop of my Jewish bloodline, lol ( just thought I’d throw that in)!
I’m still learning how to navigate your channel and have found such precious nuggets of History through your videos of Queen Vashti etc.
I absolutely LOVE when you share your prayers over the food as you’re preparing it and the reason behind the prayer. Bottom line I love the intimacy of your relationship with
G_d. I want to know and learn more, please. Maybe you can think about expanding your channel and teaching more in-depth on traditions feasts, fasts, prayers etc…
I read about the miscarriages you’ve had to journey through. I’m sorry that you and your family have had to walk through such profound loss. I weep with you. But of this I’m convinced… all of your children have been blessed to feel the love and joy you felt/feel for them with every beat of your heart. You are a gift from G_d to your family and those who are blessed to know you!
I apologize for using this forum to share such personal thoughts but it was all I had available for me to speak what was on my heart to share with you.
      Shabbat Shalom

Cow peas = black eyed peas. They were originally feed for animals but after the human food was destroyed by the Union troops during the American civil war people began to cook them to have something to eat. We are Traditional Catholic and have very much enjoyed your videos. We have incorporated parts of your Shabbat routine to fit our Sunday routine. I really enjoyed your modest dressing video as well. We are also encouraged to dress modestly. It is difficult to explain to people of the world how it is not oppressive. My motto is that "we are called to be in this world but not of this world' (meaning the secular world)

The mushroom storage idea in the paper bag was one I never heard of , , , the celery stored in foil is great too and storage of shallots, garlic and potatoes in the egg crates. Awesome. Oh thanks for those tips. Love, Sally 11-23-22

For any skeptics among us: her. celery storage tip WORKS. Many of us or at least me will avoid buying a bunch of celery because it goes limp and not crisp so quickly. What's the point of uncrisp celery? But roll it in aluminum foil and seal it up and put it in the fridge and it's good for weeks. This...Sara, I kiss you for this one. Fantastic tip I'd never heard of even at my age.

Cow peas are also called "black-eyed peas" (well, this is a specific cultivar of cow pea that is different than what you had that I can get pretty easily here) and in the southeastern US (where I'm from) they are eaten on New Years Day along with greens (turnip greens or collard greens are common but any cooked leafy green, I did kale this year), corn bread, and (if you are not me) pork, for luck and money in the new year. I usually cook them with onion, garlic, salt and pepper (some folks add pork). They are pretty darn tasty and filling. Even better if you have some chow chow (a kind of pickle relish made with green tomatoes) or pear relish (my Granny made this all the time and it is SO GOOD but tedious to make). Not necessary, but is really good as a condiment.

Cow peas are what most Southerners call "field peas" or just plain ol' peas. You wash and pick over them and soak them and rinse before cooking like any dried beans or chickpeas and they cook great in the crockpot or slow cooked on the stove like chollent with seasoning and some sort of smoked or salted meat or meaty bones like necks or knuckle or hock. Also work good in pressure cooker or Instapot.
Often in winter, a pot of peas and a pone of cornbread with some hot pickled veggies called "chow chow" make a low cost but filling supper by themselves.
Try them sometime for your Shabbot with what seasonings and meat you are familiar with they are very good!
Tip for "taking the gas" out of dried peas and beans is to add about a teaspoon or ground ginger powder when cooking. Not enough to taste but it works!
Down South there are many different types and varieties, as they grow well in long hot humid weather and in poor soils where nothing else will grow and build nitrogen so you can find them fresh at farmers markets and roadside stands, but for dried ones, there isn't much variety most common being black eyed peas.

@@frumitup black-eyed peas are a cultivar of cow peas. They are probably one of my favorite things about New Years. In the southeastern US they are commonly eaten on New Years Day... which also means I should probably buy some soon because the end of December scramble going to 5 stores for the darn things is.... not what I want to do with my time. One time me and my mom went all over and the only ones we could find were frozen ones (which is fine) with... green beans mixed in? It was odd, and we are pretty sure the added green beans were the only reason they were still there. (I left a longer comment on the video about what we eat with them and why).
