literally one of the best snare features of all time.
His name is Austin Rico. He was on the inside with Bluecoats in 2011. Even before that he marched Madison Scouts. He also marched Pulse. This year, he was originally not going to march, but his instructor convinced him too. He is on the outside in SCV 2012 because of that, and also because of the reason that the inside 3 tenors are from Phantom Regiment. He deserved to be in the inside in my opinion. Regardless, he in still an excellent person and player.

Vanguard is still one of the most musically and dynamically challenging lines even after all these years! Just watched same year BD battery and they sounded really good too but a lotta' "ram n' jam". Either REALLY LOUD or really quiet and nothing in between usually... The signature slamming releases at the end of rolls and phrases, etc. lol
God So many good drum lines this year. This freakin rocked
Rennick's writing never ceases to amaze me. It always sounds like Rennick, but it's always something new and fresh.

I was at this show, and the Vanguard was definitely the best corps there.
I watch this like 20 times a day.

I am fortunate to say that I was there when those snares were Demo'd at the 2012 UNT Percussion Camp, played by Paul Rennick himself. I have a pair of his IP sticks, and i pretty much died when he autographed them for me.
It's clean, but they don't all do the visuals in time.

I was at DCI Minnesota today watching these guys in the lot, and center quad kept making eye contact with me...lol....he's shifty eyed. But their book makes me drool.

That tech isn't the only one who does those things. Paul does it, as well as other caption heads/techs out there. It's just like them counting off with their sticks, but on the drum instead. Not really sure why you see it as being an issue.

Nice stuff, and the Dynasty drums sound great. Go ahead and spew the hate now, but man I wish all the WGI choreography hadn't found its way into DCI lines. Corps today look like you're watching Blast from the early 2000s. Still a terrific line, though.
