      I like to play as Scotland and do a long passive game, of building up my trade node in North Sea, annexing the Isles, getting the Isle of man and the event to core the northern Isles. Then I build my army and navy, colonise Canada and either friend England or get strong allys and keep them at bay.
      Being a soft power with big trade is quite fun much like a Netherlands playthrough aswell, small land and Big trade FTW 😉

      yo doing the whole 'buy steam games cheaper with a vpn' thing is actually pretty likely to get your steam account banned and lose you access to your entire library
      idk if that's something that you actually do yourself, but getting paid to encourage other people to do so is pretty shady tbh

      I thinks that's impossible without border core, snaking towards your needed provinces and is ultimately unsustainable due to the pending massive coalitions that will be looming on the horizon, not really "Kharabakh in Business" if you ask me I would say before the age of reformation, giving enough time to offset RNGesus yet giving a challenge due to narrow time of only about 60 years to fight off 2 super powers to the west and north as well as any coalition undoubtedly that's going to form, not to mention other difficulties you'll face.
      To put that into contextual perspective, that's 2-3 generations of kings given that the average ruling time is between 20-30 years usually (personal experience, though had a campaign where one of my kings ruled almost 70 years before he died, thank RNGuses for that one because my heir sucked ass xD)

      Actually did a run where I won the Sen Goku Jedai with Suo *sic* the potentially pirate Daimyo OPM. Managed to form Japan, maintain my privateering status, collapse Ming and take Korea from endless pirate raids every decade ... then the game bugged out on me, and due to a sudden and unexpected collapse into dictatorship as a Republic *I was playing rather loose with my republican tradition* it ended up soft-locking my succession to a regency ... prohibiting me from declaring wars of conquest permanently. No idea how to fix that, so I abandoned it ... but I do recommend it as a campaign! Very interesting dynamic and the raid mechanic of a pirate republic absolutely allows you to punch way above your weight.

    • @swashbukk
      @swashbukk Před 2 lety +3

      Well, there is no quick way to do this, you will face a coalition soon. Bide your time. A first goal is to connect the territories. That means Berg is a main target. You can either try to vassalize them or get only one province and leave them Jülich. Same with Geldern. Also try to vassalize Münster and worm your way to the sea. Then try to expand to the east, to the south are 2 Kurfürsten which could mean trouble in the HRE. Expand cautiously until you are the biggest fish in the pond. Also develop admin tech until you can switch into a monarchy. But avoid establishing Westphalen, their ideas are subpar. Try to have the Emperor as an ally and support him. After switching to monarchy, be a darling and get emperor on your own. Starting idea: Religion, so you have something in your hands when Reformation starts. Then trade and then a military tech.

    I formed a mega Armenian empire before and was super strong, but the number of coalition wars I had to fight became ridiculous in the late game. Allying the Mamluks seems like the most reliable strategy and usually you need to hire a bunch of mercs and/or build troops over the force limit to convince the Mamluks to support your independence.

A very tedious campaign, but the toughness makes it amazing. Definetly a more challenging and fun country to play than Byzantium. Big shame they don't have unique missions, just like Georgia.

    • @jon_j__
      @jon_j__ Před 2 lety +2

      Unfortunately, the absolute earliest you can become a crusader state is 200 years after the game start. (Due to the mandatory 200 year wait after the "Retrial of Joan of Arc" event.)
      In actuality, the various preconditions and MTTHs mean that you're unlikely to get the "Canonization of Joan of Arc" event before the end of the game in 1821, unless you're rather lucky. (The canonisation event gives you the option to become a Crusader state 30 days later.)
      Crusader Orleans sounds fun though, so I think this is a good reason to use mods or the console to force the "Canonization of Joan of Arc" event after a 10-year wait (rather than 200 years + MTTH 60 years).

      Starting as U or Tsang gives you early many expansion routes on smaller states to become stronger and larger quikly and easily before facing indian powers or Ming, starting as Kham is even easier since you can initaly become tributary of Ming, so no one of other indian and tibetan states declares you war, letting you worring only on offensive expansion wars. Tbh all small nations that starts as vassals are usually easier to play due to the support independence mechanic, which allows you to get alliances with nations you could not get normally (i.e. different religion) position doesn't look bad either. If you get supported by either Ottomans or Mamelukes you are set. Mzab imho is much harder, because of dirt poor desert land, no friendly neighbors and your only initial expansion direction bringing you into confrontation with the Iberian juggernaut, which is the strongest starting nation in the game due to 15% morale. Nevertheless congrats for a job well done.

      but i can say its easier, in my first albania or iberia game i did it in 1.32 and it was easier than earlier versions, i even formed rome and got the achievement for forming rome and owning all the black sea and mediterranean coast

    do montenegro, its way harder to survive as them. not only are there ottomans to your east but the beast can only be destroyed with hungary and they alone can't help you. along with that they will say so long and elope with austria in hysteria. and you start off as a vassal of serbia and it's a hassle to get out due to the 5 year truce you start with.
