Captain with paladins is great! It’s 100% a unit people look over I have had much success with it. Crow Also you will never go back! That unit is an auto take. If you dropped a strike you can still get dragio in. I think with the CSM codex come soon there will be a lot of daemons running around. Great job with the video !

Nicely detailed review and write up. Will be good to see how you get on with the revised list. Ahh yes a failed Draigo charge with a CP re-roll, i feel your pain.

Hey Chris, wonderful video, you’re obviously very reflective and it’s a joy to hear you learn your way into the faction. And you’ve had the inaugural experience of “surely I should kill that unit, right?” You’re truly one of us now.
I hope, though you are undoubtedly a better player than I am, that it’s clearer now why I don’t care for the 5-6 dreadknight lists.
-Most grey knight players aren’t Derek. Derek is one of the most competent scorers I have ever heard speak on an army. For most people, in a dreadknight list, the dreadknights are not scoring units. So now, instead of an army where every unit is a scoring unit, your army is only half scoring units, which mitigates one of our key strengths.
-Additionally, screening with vehicle grey knights is, as you experienced, extremely challenging. Your screening and scoring units are the same units.
-Not to mention that in an army full of very difficult to kill stuff, dreadknights are securely not among their number, they tend to fall very quickly if you have too many to protect.
Reflectively, you mentioned how much of a break in momentum getting turn one is. As far as getting first turn goes, I’d suggest taking a look at first to the fray on a captain in 10 terminators. If you go first, you immediately have a teleport strike target, if they go first, rapid ingress into cover and plan an alpha strike into their backline. Captain, in grey knight discourse, is often relegated to being run with paladins to improve their shooting, but I find it’s often ignored that it gives lethal and sustain hits to a unit with 44 attacks in combat. While Radiant Smite is often unrealistic, if you really need something to die, this unit with radiant smite will erase just about anything short of a baneblade.
If the captain seems a waste to you though, chaplain and grandmaster both have their merits and can also take the enhancement.
Hope your enjoy the revision process and theorycrafting for your next tournament, I’ll be rooting for more infantry over here but whatever you do I’m here for the ride.

As far as cp management goes, I do just think it’s best not to reroll unless it’s like a 3 inch charge fail. Our other strategems give us far more upside as far as winning the game than cp reroll.
Having a look at the revised list, is beautiful, as much as I like captain in terminators, captain in paladins with sigil is a beautiful unit, as is the Crowe purifiers.
Lastly, purgation squads are my favorite unit in the army! Purgators with incinerators are an awesome pseudo move block, just haunting a stickied objective waiting for anything to dare get close enough, as you say it’s spectacular into hordes too. Plenty of fun to be had with that unit. Their psycannon variant is also very interesting, because they’re small bases, and can be used to find some really neat plunging fire opportunities, and 8 2 2 is a pretty robust shooting profile.

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply, lots of great points! I’ve played a few more games and now I’m swerving between 1 and 2 Dreadknights and it’s tough! I think it’s great that considering we don’t have that many useable units, you can still get good list variety

Crow and the boys are great fun just watching your opponent face with the amount of shots that they put out.
