Most of us that only do 10 piece sets either have our customers size their nails (with instructions for proper sizing), then send us their sizes in mm or we send out sizing kits (that's what I do) because custom 10 piece sets use less product and take less time than 20+ piece sets because a lot of people don't do 10 or 16, they do 20 or 24, but I've even seen 30 piece sets. All of my customers used a sizing kit to size their own nails, then sent me the sizes to write down in my notebook under their name and preference of shape/length. I have made one 24 piece set as a surprise Christmas gift for my customers friend, and I will never do that again. It took twice as much time and used twice as much product. They were beautiful and she fell in love with them, but never again. I will stick with sizing kits and 10 piece sets, only. 😬
This set is absolutely STUNNING though! 😍 Especially that glitter. Holy..........😍😍

Blessed here is a breakdown but remember the cost of materials used makes a difference. I'm in the business too.. hope this helps.. don't let anyone discourage you.
When determining how much to charge for your press-on nails business, there are several factors you should consider. Here's a breakdown of the key considerations:
      1. Cost of Materials: Calculate the cost of the press-on nail kits, glue, nail polish, nail art decorations, and other supplies required to create your products. Consider the cost per set or per nail.
      2. Labor and Time: Estimate the amount of time it takes to create a set of press-on nails, including preparation, application, and any additional nail art. Determine your desired hourly rate or the amount you would like to earn per set.
      3. Business Expenses: Factor in your overhead costs, such as rent for your workspace, utilities, insurance, marketing, and any licensing fees. Divide these expenses by the number of sets you expect to sell to determine their impact on your pricing.
      4. Competitor Analysis: Research other press-on nail businesses in your area or online to get an idea of the pricing range. Consider the quality of their products, their reputation, and the level of customization or uniqueness they offer.
      5. Target Market: Determine your target audience and their willingness to pay. For example, if you're targeting a high-end clientele, you may be able to charge more for your press-on nails than if you're targeting a budget-conscious market.
      6. Value-added Services: Consider offering additional services such as nail consultations, custom designs, or express shipping for an extra fee. These value-added services can justify higher prices.
      7. Profit Margin: Decide on the profit margin you want to achieve. This percentage should cover your costs, labor, and provide a reasonable return on investment. Typically, profit margins range from 20% to 50%.
Once you have considered these factors, you can calculate your pricing. Here's a simplified example:
Let's say the cost of materials per set is $10, and it takes you an average of 1 hour to complete a set. If you want to earn $20 per hour, your labor cost would be $20. Let's assume your monthly business expenses are $500, and you plan to sell 20 sets per month.
Total Cost per Set = Cost of Materials + Labor Cost + (Monthly Expenses ÷ Number of Sets)
      Total Cost per Set = $10 + $20 + ($500 ÷ 20) = $35
To determine your selling price, you could apply a profit margin of 30% to the total cost per set:
Selling Price per Set = Total Cost per Set + (Total Cost per Set × Profit Margin)
      Selling Price per Set = $35 + ($35 × 0.30) = $45.50
Keep in mind that this is a simplified example, and you should adapt it to your specific circumstances and market conditions. Regularly review and adjust your pricing strategy as needed to remain competitive and profitable.

When I tried this technique the first time, I learned that I needed to make my nail my fake full cover nail to I started with, Fit my fingers perfectly but, after I went through the process and the nails were finished, they had shrunk A small amount and no longer fit my fingers properly they were too small! So I learned to go a little larger with your fake full cover nail tip and then go ahead and go through the process and when you’re finish the shrinking will bring it down to a more perfect fit. Plus do not Put the a lot of product or the end result will be a bulky nail!

I'm sorry, I'm extremely new to this so I don't really understand some things...So you're saying a client picks a design to create a set of press ons, you'd just give them 16 designed nails as their order? Then they just fit themselves at home to find which ones are right for their nails? Doesn't that potentially waste many nails and time for designing just 1 order if they might not even get all worn? Your work is incredible and you put sooo much into that 1 beautiful nail , I'd be devastated if they weren't even worn!! I'm so sorry I'm just really confused.. I just want to understand correctly so if I do this I don't make a costly mistake... thank you for time and all you teach us Melissa ❤️🤗

I’ve been wanting to make her some press on nails but didn’t know how to go about it. Like how would she apply it to her nails? Nail glue would suffice? Won’t the nail kinda tilt downward? This has hindered me from doing this. If it points down and what she could use to adhere them. She didn’t get her annual Christmas sets done from me this year 😖 sucks.

Honestly the price range I gave you as a guide. You could price them less if you would like. When you start seeing that encapsulation and extra stuff you’re doing takes more time you want to charge more. If you were just polishing them and doing something simple they would be less. I think it depends on several things such as gel versus plastic tips, encapsulating, products used and obviously time....to name a few. A good set of press on nails will last a very long time. I don't think that price is unreasonable for this caliber of work and products. But there's also less expensive versions for those that are looking for that or maybe not concerned with all of the other factors.

    • @mjaydelacruz8496

I charge that because I’m charging for my time in the work I put into them. Just like I would be charging for somebody I would be doing and artificial enhancement on their nails. To me I see it the same time and effort into it. Just different techniques. The cool thing about Nails is there’s many options! They could go to the press on route, polish route, acrylic, dip or gel. My question is, when using full cover tips, at least for myself, I need filler in between the gap and the nail bed. I’ve seen a lot of people use gels or such that need to be cured. But gel underneath can’t cure if the tip is painted, right? So would you just put a bunch of glue in the well and on the nail bed and hold it until it dries?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  Před rokem

When you pre-design the nails, you need to make sure you are using colors/glitters that are somewhat translucent to let the light through. If you are uncertain if they are translucent enough, you can always mix an iridescent glitter to break up the color. This will allow the light through without changing the color.

Yes I feel the same way but fir some reason it’s wrkink because the press ins are on fire right now. I heard they’re supposed to put glue on their nails and also on the enhancement I guess that helps build it up a little bit I’m not sure though but I feel you on the Apex it is higher and the thought of them pointing downwards came across my mind to what’s going to happen is I’m gonna have to try to sit on myself so I can experience the craze. These would be more for a very temporary set. If you/your client has an event or something for a day. They won’t hold up with repeated hand washing or if you use your hands a lot during the day.
If you want longer wear but still temporary, applying them with glue may be a better option.

If you are wanting to re-use the press ons, we recommend using the sticky tabs to adhere them. They won't be as permanent as gluing on or adhering with gel, but it is the only way that won't damage the press ons or the natural nail.
