I finally ordered a variegated whalefin. I just knew it would be an Itty bitty leaf for $40. I opened the box and I got two 15 inch leafs and 5 teen leaves!!!!

I ordered a sayuri from the same company, it didn’t come with a stick to prevent shifting, it was filthy dirty, lots of splits in the leaves, dehydrated and overall not a beautiful plant. However, I was expecting a MUCH smaller plant for the price I paid. And I was expecting some of the damage. So, I bit my tongue, took her apart and washed her leaves and let her dry overnight. I planted her up and gave her a good drench. I’ve had her for 5 weeks and she’s looking better. Still have lots of scabs and splits but she’s hydrating up and the silvery gray/green variegation is showing through and she’s my ugly duckling. I’ve named her Sarai and she’s giving me 2 new leaves and I can’t wait to see what an unblemished leaf looks like 😍 I also have 1 leaf with roots but no ‘tuber’ in it’s own pot and another leaf broke off and I have that propagating in water and it does have baby roots. I’m curious to see if either one revert to something else.
Hopefully It flourishes….. I have my Sayuri outside in a pot, it is doing great…. I will check to see if it has new growth…. I believe the new growth is the same. I will check mine and document it in an upcoming video…. 💚💚💚🍀
@@GreenLadyDV an update would be great and when my 2 propagations give me pups, I’ll try to remember to let you know also… so many leaf props revert back to a parent plant so I’m excited to see
I have several Whales Fins both green and variegated and they are just beautiful! Quite the conversation piece with friends and family.
