Thanks a bunch dude. I just got some new shoes that fit a little loose. Having to tie them extra tight I ended up with extra lace which kept coming untied. The double knot has made all the difference in keeping them tied.

Almost forty and I only learned how to tie a double knot from this video. Up until this point it was never an issue but I got a pair of running shoes that just would not stayed tied up with a single knot when I actually went running in them (cough* Nike Pegasus* cough) which is something of a problem for running shoes (cough* they also consistently give me blisters *cough).

They need to nerf the double knot, its too simple to create a knot that never comes undone. There needs to be more room for the higher skill one level knots.

You do NOT need a double knot. All you have to do is change step one of a single knot.
In the first step, if you put the left lace UNDER instead of OVER, and then in the 2nd step you put the first loop OVER as usual, you don't need to do the double knot. It'll stay put. And it will look clean, not crooked.

There is a better way, if you tie your shoe with loop swoop pull you can just loop it around twice. They will stay tight but much easier to untie.

Loops don't remain for me at the second step when I pull the right loop underneath the gap of the two loops. They just turn into a knot at the bottom and the loops vanish. Sorcery! 🤣

I don't really do step 2. I just make one loop and wrap my other string round it and under and pull and it makes the second loop as long as you keep the outside string free from fully going under the hole if that makes sense. it still looks like what step 2 I'm just not holding 2 loops while making them. I know it's easy for you guys to do it because of muscle memory but it looks like it would be quiet annoying for me to have to do.. I pretty much taught myself how to tie shoes because I forgot when my family showed and they refused to help after the first introduction to be honest.. they said just tuck them but I eventually just had enough of that.
