    How do you harden fondant? or whats the cmc ratio for that much fondant? beautiful work

      You don't need a lot of cmc to harden the fondant.I used about 2 tsp of cmc to 500g of fondant for the sewing machine and sprinkled a few more as I went along if I felt it wasn't hard enough. The trick is do this like a day or 2 earlier than you need it so its firm and hard for you to place on the cake.

    This is a beautiful cake I am only a beginner but will try this next week...can I ask how did you get to stand the sewing machine upright or is it secure enough once it hardens ...thank you xx

      Also what is the needle made of please x

      I made the sewing machine a day before before putting the cake together. This way the fondant had time to set and harden. You can also achieve a firm fondant by adding a lot of tylose powder to the fondant and kneading together. Alternatively, you can also use a cake dowel(or bamboo kebab skewers) to secure the sewing machine to the cake for extra hold.

      I used a cocktail stick(also called tooth pick) as the needle. You can also use a strand of spaghetti and make the end a little pointy.

      If making all the accessories to go on the in advance does it matter if I make them a week in advance and how is it best to store them ...not covered I guess? Thank you xx

      @@lisarichards2527 Its fine to make them a week in advance.You want to leave them in a dry airy place so they set. I usually place on a tray somewhere cool and away from direct sunlight.Once set they can be kept in an air tight container for much longer.

    How mane gm o fondant?

    • @KlairsKakery
      @KlairsKakery  Před 2 lety +1

      I used about 500gm for the sewing machine (black) and about 2kg (white) to cover the cake. The cake was 10'' round and about 7'' high if I remember correctly. Hope that helps
