      And if you look in the background during the ascension ritual, there are two hooded figures standing on each side of Mother Aniseya. They look similar to the witch-guards, but they don't have the bows or any sort of weaponry. Also, you can't see their faces even under the hood -- its all black. They do not participate in the ritual, they do no chants and they don't wave their hands around. They're just watching. And when the Jedi arrive, they look around and then disappear -- they do not follow the rest of the witches.
      I feel like the Sith were already there. Probably would explain how the twins came to be (some dark side experimenting with the Sith -- which would explain where Plagueis got it from).
      Once the Jedi learned of the immaculate conception, I feel they would be very reluctant to leave since they would believe one of the twins could be the chosen one from the prophecy.

      Seriously doubt that is what happened, it would be against jedi code. My bet is the witches internal conflict (between two mothers) finally came to a deadly conclusion. The jedi arrival and attempt to get kids was the fuel that ignited the final confrontation. One half of the witches probably poisoned the other part and attacked jedi. The jedi feel they are responsible but not for the self-defense against the evil half, but because they were reason of the conflict start and deaths of the good half that wanted peaceful resolution.

    Anakin was created BY the Will of the Force due to Sidious and Plageuis’s actions.
    Mae and Osha were created WITH the force. Like the Nightwitches, Mother Aniseya manipulated the force to create the twins (with her genetics) and placed them into Mother Koril’s womb, her lover, who carried them.
    But it seems the girls have a motherly bond with Aniseya and none with Koril. They still call Koril “Mother Koril” which is a title. But they call Aniseya “mama.” Must hurt like hell for Koril.

      I mean I think people are also forgetting that this is a sci-fi show. They have science so it is just as easy to explain without the force as in it was Aniseya's egg and Koril was a surrogate because Aniseya couldn't or wouldn't carry them for one reason or another. Of course the force could be involved but a simple explanation is also possible.

Though they don't say it, I think this definitely deals with a dyad, and also creating life through the Force. If the Sith are involved, I think we can now see THEIR interest in this coven and the twins. If the Jedi knew, the Sith probably knew as well, and it would not have taken much to provoke the witches and Jedi to fight. • @Flettwin
      @Flettwin Před 2 měsíci

      The Path Of The Open Hand are a Force Cult from the earliest part of the High Republic Era.
      They believe that anyone who uses the Force is damaging the fabric of the galaxy. They become more and more militant over time and their leaders, “The Mother” and “The Herald” (the latter of which is a Nautolan with his head tendrils sliced off) gain access to something INSANELY lethal to Force Users and that leads to a battle on their homeworld that gets so brutal & costly that the Jedi Council bury and downplay it for years afterwards.
      The events the Path set in motion have such massive ramifications for the Order that there’s a line in the Chosen Prophecy that Dooku & Qui-Gon both read talking about it.
      There are off-shoot cults of the Path in the books and the Witches in the Acolyte share some symbolism with them.

    • @jasonmarbach
      @jasonmarbach Před 2 měsíci +2

      From wookiepedia:
      “The Path of the Open Hand was an extremist cult whose fundamental belief was that no one with Force-sensitivity should use or manipulate the Force. They believed doing so abused and hurt the Force, disrupting the balance of the galaxy itself. Furthermore, the Path believed that the Force would always seek to balance itself: in their opinion, if one used the Force to save lives, at least that many lives would be taken away somewhere else in the galaxy. In effect, any use of the Force would create unforeseen consequences. These beliefs developed into inherent resentment and antagonism towards the philosophically opposite Jedi Order, the most prominent group in the galaxy that used the Force. They believed that the Jedi were the source of much of the misfortune and peril in the galaxy because they thought they used the Force constantly, selfishly, and with abandon and brought it out of balance. Another critical part of this belief was that no one should have access to Force artifacts and weapons or use thier powers. Because of this they had a subgroup called the Children that "liberated" or stole these items to be held by the Path for safekeeping.”

    I'm betting the reason the fire spread so quickly was because Mae was feeding it with the dark side. She's definitely got a lot of anger, if not fear and hate, in that scene.
    I also don't think the fire alone was what killed the rest of the coven. My guess is that tensions were high when the Jedi showed up to collect Osha and the sudden outbreak of the fire probably escalated the situation.

    The coven is not innocent in this, they kept pushing the life they wanted for the girls onto Osha, who clearly had reservations about it. In one of the trailers or TV spots we see Kelnacca attack him, so something goes down between the Jedi; a philosophical or ethical disagreement, or mind control or something. Total shot in the dark: the Jedi had orders to investigate the coven and shut it down if need be. Indara, who gives off kind of hard-ass vibes, has a particular, extreme idea about how to handle them, which Torbin goes along with because he was her padawan. Sol likely objects to this course of action, and rushes to the fortress to stop them, which is why he’s there already when the place is coming down around their ears. Sol’s probably keeping that Indara and Torbin was responsible for the reactor sabotage. Still, I wonder if something beyond the Jedi is at play with the deaths of the coven. We didn’t get that good a look, but they seemed suspiciously lacking in physical injuries. Sure, there was a lot of rubble around them, but it didn’t look like enough to kill them all.

  • @Serenity113

    My thoughts on this is that things were already tense between the Coven and the Jedi so when the fire broke out, the Coven, having no idea it was Mae, thought it was the Jedi who started it when they came for Osha (and Mae as well). One of them made the first move and a fight broke out. Since this is from Osha's perspective, she believes Mae was the one who started the fire and it killed everyone. Maybe later on, we will see from Mae's perspective of what happened and thinks that the Jedi was responsible since she had already decided to not trust them. Which is explains why she is out for revenge towards them and thinks Osha was dead. She was already "ripe" for the dark side since she already showed a tendency towards using violence even at a young age. She's quick to anger and is absolute. A perfect student for that mysterious teacher.

That said this episode felt like a step up Sol has been consistently the best part of this series, and continues to shine. I liked Osha in episodes 1 and 2 but May didn’t feel like a real person in those first two. Not sure if it was the writing which has struggled so far or if the actress is just better at playing heros over villains. I’ve seen her in other stuff and she’s been good. That said the actress playing child may in episode 3 was way more convincing. I think adult May struggles for me because they want her to be sympathetic, but kid May is straight evil. And Lucas very specifically states in The Star Wars Archive interviews that the Whills, which Lucas says feed on the energy of the Cosmic Force, created Anakin as a means to stop the growing presence of the Dark Side from “souring the milk”. Sidious could just assume that it was Plagueis who created Anakin through the technique Mae taught her Sith master (? Just my theory at the moment, but the implications are there), which is all stuff Filoni, who now oversees everything, including this show, would be aware of.
