  • Title: A Multi-pronged Approach to Lipedema Treatment
    URL: lipedema-university.lipedemapr...
Intro: Lipedema is different in different people. You all have genes that modify your lipedema, and everyone's in different stages. Just in this room we have stages, stage 1, 2, and 3. And I think as time goes on, we should also not just be satisfied with those three stages. We should talk about how we can better define lipedema, because the more you define it, the more you learn about it, and the more interest you're going to generate in other people. And this is coming again from people coming back to me and saying, "This is what I did."

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the enlightenment that liposuction is NOT the only answer! This video is an amazing one to take to our PC's to encourage them to look further, and research further! Thank you Karen Herbst, MD.!!!!!!!

Thank you for posting this video Dr. Herbst. I have developed both lymphedema and lipedema after cancer surgery and you are a Godsend. I live in SE Arizona and am hoping to see you in person when I'm well enough to travel.

But primary care doctors don't really know about this. And if even if they do, they won't even look and my legs and tons of lipomas and water retention.

Do many of you NOT drink much water thinking that it reduces swelling?? Could this cause cells to 'hang onto' fluid retention?? Could reducing inflammatory foods help with inflammation around fat cells?? Can essential oil therapeutic massage help unblock lymph cells??

I am trying to understand this condition so that I am informed, and can help a friend with advanced lipodema. It has got to the point where her mobility is severely compromised, and the fat build up on her hips is such that she is having to have the doorways in her home widened. In the UK there is so little help available. Any assistance that you could provide would be very gratefully received. I know that she is in great pain, but the attitude to pain control is so restricted. Her quality of life is very much reduced, and the future doesn’t bear thinking about.

I keep hoping I’ll find a rundown on what will help. This came the closest. But it’s so fast. Mentioned some supplements. Idk. Bout to just give up again.

Do you mean that the fluid is inside the fatcells, or around, or both?

So if a woman lowered oestrogens, and slightly upped their testosterone - would this help reduce?
