Mower Wheel Bead Reseating! This is video on how I reseated the bead on my mower tire!
Today is Day 198 of the Metal Relic video challenge! The script is mine, the voice is AI's. This is one of those things where you figure it out as you go. I had a wheel get low enough to break the bead. I've seen videos on the internet where people use ether or starting fluid to get it back on the rim.
Well, I had no ether. I tried brake cleaner first. Apparently it's not the good stuff anymore. I threw it in the oven for a little bit to make it at least a little bit softer and easier to deal with.
My big compressor was missing the tire chuck so I was just about out of luck when I thought about using the torch. Well it works! I had to give it a few tries to get it to pop and generate enough pressure to reseat both sides of the tire.
This is dangerous and just because you saw it on the internet, does not mean you should attempt it without knowing what you are doing.
This is the same tire a few days later and so far it's holding just fine.

Easier to just use a ratchet strap around the tire then fill with air and loosen the strap.
