The HP OMEN 27u is impressive and it does stand apart from the HP OMEN 27c and 27i displays. You will need a powerful system to push all of the pixels on a 4K 144Hz display so this should last people for years to come.

Thank you, DaPoets, for this educational monitor tutorial!...Planning to purchase the HP 27u along with the desktop HP45L - In Canada, since we can't customize the HP 45L desktop, what features should a novice gamer be looking for?
Thanks for sharing your first impressions/review!
A few questions,
1. How is customization of the RGB on the back of the monitor?
2. How noticeable was the jump from 1440p to 4k at the 27 inches? Was it a notable visual upgrade for gaming?
The RGB is fully customizable using their software and yes you can easily tell the difference when viewing 4K content
The jump from 1440p to 4k is noticeable for sure. At 27 inches, the increased resolution takes the image quality from "high definition" to "life like". It's a little surreal when you play games at such a high pixel density; 4k really bumps up the fidelity at the cost of like 30 fps across the board.
Good evening. Wow, I like the new monitor.
🔥👍👍👍👍
I got the omen 45L w: the 3080ti / intel i71200k. Now I have to try star citizen too 💪🏼
🔥
Just in case you don't know - you can unscrew the quick attachment and have a 100x100 Vesa mount
Hi, ips panel 8 bits or 10 bits? thanks
Is there backlight bleeding on this model?
Are the sharpness options still level 1 level 3 etc or is there a more gradual option like TVs?
I'll have to check but there was no need to adjust settings since it was perfectly factory calibrated already
How do you remove the holder after attaching
Odd that I didn't find any mention of the speakers in the product page!
Interesting
Nice I'm thinking of upgrading to a similar screen this summer from my 1440p gaming monitor. :)
Nice!
Does this monitor (27u) have a fan? I currently use an LG 27GN950, but I'm tired of the high-pitched warbling whining noise the fan in the monitor makes. The volume of that fan isn't that high, but it's just enough that it annoys me every evening when it's quiet outside.
If this HP has an image that's nearly as good, and no fan, I might get one.
Also, is the USB-C port a video input, or just for USB data?
Another critical thing for me is not having any PWM flicker. Not sure how you'd test that -- maybe dim the screen and look at it with a phone camera with a high shutter speed?
Great questions, and sorry due to time on my end here is the link www.omen.com/us/en/displays/omen-27u.html
@@DaPoets The LG I have doesn't say "has a fan" in the specs, and the HP doesn't really say anything either. So I was hoping somebody who has the display could just put their ear up to it in a quiet room.
@@danagoyette7932 I've never seen a fan on HP OMEN displays
Does the 150% zoom cause issues in applications in general?
Not that I know of
Thanks for uploading, great stuff! I do have two questions for you:
1. Is this is a Nano-IPS display? If you're not sure, is the emission of reds unusually bright?
2. Do you notice any eye strain at all using this monitor?
They call it an IPS oxide panel. And they have their own blue light filter to prevent eye strain.
Primarily interested in the OMEN 27u 4K Gaming Monitor: So very interested in your given observations and impressions. So far so good! ~ However, not being a gamer, but 4K-drawn and speciations-attracted, would love to know how this monitor performs in viewing, say astronomical images (BLACK-space with colors of luminous stars and nebulae, etc.). And viewing still pictures, generally. Also, what about READING on the Internet, news, history, whatever: TEXT on white, or lighter on dark-gray or black - SHARP, crisp, CLEAR, even in small-print or standard-size font of sufficient-size: small and fine, not BLURRED or SMEARED in line, without COLOR-ABERRATIONS of any kind?
Would the monitor be, well hopefully, exceptional as an all-purpose monitor: for still-picture-viewing, reading, CZcams video-viewing: 1080, 1440, and, of course its native 4K.
One would assume, movie viewing from, say a Blu-ray disc, would be outstanding? (Gaming features, I ASSUME, would also dramatically improve simply watching a Netflix disc-film through the monitor (I have NO TV).
Thanks for an interesting review!
P.S.: While showing the image quality and performance, THANK YOU for not showing violent virtual-mayhem and bloody-gamer mass-casualty events, like some do without batting an eye.
Out of all of my monitors that I have in rotation this is my favorite and it's an excellent balance for everything that you just described in my opinion.
@@DaPoets ~ "Out of ALL my monitors"... 🖵 That is a pretty darn-high recommendation! And "excellent balance for everything" I was concerned about, is encouraging to considering that HP model. ~ Appreciate the swift-reply!
Hope to have one soon on its way.
Best Regards.
You seem to have a video about this monitor at least two weeks before anyone else on CZcams? Did you break an embargo?!
There was no embaro, they sent it to me before others.
@@DaPoets This video is now a month old, and no sign of anyone else reviewing it or even mentioning it. It was supposed to be out in May? Sounds like they're having problems, you did well to get to the front of the queue.
@@andyturner4197 sold out quickly
pls can you help me, how big in CM is the stand the monitor is on? i need to know if it would fit my desk
It sits about 10 and 1/2 inches deep
@@DaPoets thank you so much! this is big. it needs alot of space but i rly think its a nice monitor!
hey man for the 27u how do u turn on the volume
There is an audio jack but I don't that that model has speakers.
lmao literally ordered the 27i after watching your last review a few days ago.
😅
@@DaPoets odd. Can’t even find that video anymore. Tried searching but only see your 27u and 27c review now.
@@FrankInkStein I showcased it in a number of videos but didn't do 1 specific video just for it which is why you can't find it probably. You can look at your watch history to find the video though.
I hear you saying 165 hz. This monitor is 144 hz right? You can unlock it to 165 hz? I read in a review it does have some input lag. Is it any better than Gigabyte M28U?
Edit: never mind the first question lol you talked about the Omen 27i apparently ;) Really need to know the last question about input lag. I have currently the Omen X 27. It's fast. Does the Omen 27U has many input lag and is it any better than Gigabyte M28U? (the best at the moment according reviews)
How much bandwidth on hdmi 2.1?
When you look up the standard you'll see all of the capabilities, not just the bandwidth
How I can put 144hz on windows? It only allows me to 120hz with Display Port.
what's your hardware? Did you read the manual & specs?
@@DaPoets I think is my graphic card that doesn’t allow but I’m not sure. I have a nvidia 1070.
@@R15PP That's an old GPU and you may not have that ability. You will have to look it up and read the manual
Will it support VRR on console?
Yes it has variable refresh rate for consoles via hdmi 2.1 for it's 120hz capabilities. Full details like that are listed on the omen 27u website as well :-)
Does it swivel / tilt right to left?
no
27inches is my friend
This or the odyssey g70a?
27u has better DCI-P3 and is brighter.
What about price?
I believe it will be $699.99 but don't quote me. The price is not on HP OMEN's website yet.
Will this work for my xbox?
It has HDMI 2.1
Can I run 4k 144hz through hdmi?
HDMI 2.1 for 120hz 4k.
