    Impressive, the stock was at the peak near '11 when they discovered the mine (and copper was at $4), then 2 years later they made this video (stock down 60%), then very rough times with the stock down 90% from the peak, now it's come back up at around 3.6cad, and it seems not particularly an expensive stock.

    I guess this must be the small copper mountain, as it is far away from the famous "Great Copper Mountain" that was in full production for 600 years, before running dry and the operations company diversified to other activities. That mountain also contained some gold and had some foreign involvement in the ownership structure.

    Excellent! I wonder why Japan does the further refining? Not that I doubt their abilities, which I'm sure are excellent. But isn't there somewhere in the U.S. that could benefit from being the one who carries out this final refinement of copper? It's a mix of things I'm keenly interested in of late. Thank you for the video. Well done and I wish you all success. Why can't it be smelted in USA???

    • @loftsatsympaticodotc
      @loftsatsympaticodotc Před 9 lety +6

      Indeed, but a BETTER question- Why not smelt it right here, in British Columbia-at the source !! ???

    • @anvilhead59
      @anvilhead59 Před 4 lety

      Namely due to those smelters being at capacity and it is cheaper to ship by boat to Japan than to truck and/or rail to a U.S. smelter, or even a Canadian smelter too.

      Not even all the copper mined in the US is smelted here. Most is shipped overseas

    • @Marcoose81

      +Tobacc0 Below the total cost of production. The operating costs of production are lower. Capital costs are already sunk, can't get them back so they keep going. TCP = OCP + CCP. Economics 101

      Tobacc0 any Mine with any resource. The challenge is to get production per tonne as low as absolutely possible. I find it hard to believe the price of Copper would be that low. 175,000 tonnes of copper per annum seems very low to me. Here in the Pilbara Lithium Spodumin sells at $15,000 US a tonne. They produce in the millions of tonnes per annum.

    Who’s gonna pay for all the cleanup when mine is done producing copperAnd the tailings pond which will be very acidic nothing could ever live in that

    • @ericanderson4801
      @ericanderson4801 Před 5 lety +2

      Do a little research, hippie. Mines are required to put up bonds to ensure reclamation. It's cheaper to clean the place up than to forfeit the bonds and pay fines. It's already accounted for. As for getting rid of acidic tailings: You simply send it down the river. Very slowly. The process is closely monitored. Not a single fish will die. That's AFTER they extract valuable minerals from the tailings.
      The video showed you how they deal with the tailings pond. Try paying attention.
