1977 was a very great time for me .these programs cheer me up and take me back to a time when it was amazing growing up with things like adventure playgrounds and local swimmng baths , cinema and magpie to come home from school to watch ...these days its all gone taken away and kids. addicted to phones when they should be reading books and playing outdoors ...for us oldies we saw and lived through the best of england . # england is unrecognisable..

Wow! That Jaffa Cakes advert must have run for years! I fondly remember watching "Magic Circle" and "Magpie!" I am 51 this year, and can remember coming home from infants school to watch these and 70s era "Sooty/". Thank for bringing back these cherished memories!

The mid-week racing SP was provided by ATV's main daytime off-screen continuity announcer, Peter Davies. Great to see these wonderful rarities.

Thames' adverts or ATV's? Hopefully, one day we'll see some breaks with the ATV break bumper animation!

Why did they discontinue Texan bars? (And was the other cowboy supposed to look like Lee Van Cleef or was that just coincidence.

This has to be from ATV surely? Also,if this is 1977,what election is Douglas Rae talking about.....there certainly wasn't a general election in 1977 anyway...?

As I remember we were under a socialist regime labour putting everyone through a cost of living crisis and recession....😢

@@NOTODIVERSITY The recession actually started in 1980 under Thatcher as that’s when GDP started contracting, the UK wasn’t in recession in 1977.

This might actually be June 1977, in which case it could have been referring to the local elections the previous month?

at that time unemployment under Labour was about 2 million.
and half way through 1977 employment figures rose by the same amount
By the mid '80s under Thatcher unemployment was over 3 million...officially
as people on "training schemes" were counted as Employed it was probably higher.
