    • @volcrazy89
      @volcrazy89 Před 4 lety +4

      IGOR honestly should've been nominated for AOTY, but it would've come at the expense of Lil Nas X, which was clearly the album that didn't deserve to be nominated for AOTY (not even close). In terms of him complaining about the genre placement, it's as much rap as anything else. The Grammys' criteria says an album must be at least 51% of a certain genre to be nominated for that genre, which is true for IGOR. Was his album just a rap album? No, but by virtue of the criteria it qualified for the category it was placed in. The only other category it would've possibly been put in would be Urban, which was always going to Lizzo. So he got a Grammy by being placed in the rap category, so I don't see WTH he's complaining about. Also, he could've been nominated for AOTY and not been put in a genre category, like what happened with Lana Del Ray and what's happened with Janelle Monae and Lorde in the past couple of years, but those never win the award. So again, by being placed in the rap category, he now has a Grammy, so I don't see his bitch with the process. Same with Lizzo, who won Best Pop Solo for Truth Hurts when it's not a pop song. Would he rather be nominated for AOTY and not win vs. win a Grammy for Best Rap Album?

      Most of the awards given out are for categories that people don't really care about. They could add some to the show, though, like Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Song Written for Visual Media, Best R&B Performance, etc. They basically pluck one award each for pop, country, R&B, and rap and do the Big 4 and that's it, which is stupid. That's the same for all the categories. Also what you said is the same literally for all the genres, since they all have 6-7 main artists in a few years' span, so not sure what your point is. None of those were even nominated in rap or R&B this year. Bey got two (unwarranted) nominations in the pop field. Also, Bey and Rihanna have won their awards across more than one genre.

    • @volcrazy89
      @volcrazy89 Před 4 lety +4

      She did. Lemonade not winning was no more of a snub than Gaga's Born This Way losing to Adele's 21 in 2012. 25 was a great album and Lemonade wasn't this earth-shattering piece of work that people make it out to be. And Formation is a great record (not well-written, however) but it was nothing compared to Hello. If anyone other than Beyonce had put it out people wouldn't pump it up as much. However, the Grammys consistently do not reward risk-taking by artists. They prefer to award people like Adele, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Bruno in the big categories over the risk takers like Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Lorde, Lana Del Rey and Lady Gaga. I think it's more about lazy picks surrounding sound and mainstream popularity vs. race. But people have to go out of their way to be woke, especially on The Real where every single perceived "snub" is about race.

Meaning we can’t expect anything different until the executives and the ones at the top do something about it and stop using the old dated ways of voting and using the same old white people that don’t diversify what they listen to

      @@brandonfrancis9465 Bey has no gripe except for maybe the year she got beat by Beck. She and Gaga both have a gripe for when they lost to Taylor for AOTY (I am Sasha Fierce and The Fame were both legendary albums), but Bey won SOTY that year for Single Ladies, which was hella dumb. Hell she got two nominations this year (Best Pop Solo and Best Pop Vocal Album) that she wouldn't have gotten if she weren't Beyonce. Made a damn album for The Lion King and the Grammys gave her two pity noms, lmao. Also Ariana is pretty new to the scene and doesn't really have much of a gripe. She doesn't fit in at all w/ who you listed. If you wanna list someone, list Lady Gaga, who was shut out of Best New Artist and lost AOTY twice, one to Taylor Swift's first album which was trash, and then to fucking Arcade Fire.

    I believe there’s a problem too but the most overlooked statement made on show is that All the artists complaining are ON the Grammy Academy ... so the problem they have is with themselves or Their peers are the problem meaning the other artists didn’t vote for them! So complaining to us broke péons out here ain’t gonna change nothing because we don’t vote lol 😂
    N some of these ppl complaining ( n you can guess which 2 ) have trunk loads of Grammys in the genres of hip hop n RNB ... Again I’m not saying there’s not a problem I just think some of them WITH numerous Grammies need to be quite n stop being greedy because the vast majority of the complaints have been centered around the years he and his spouse didn’t get one ... like I’m questioning are y’all really complaining so that wonderful artists like HER can get Grammies or are they complaining because they want to keep winning themselves? There’s a difference between complaining for a cause and just complaining cuz you didn’t win for once y’all ..... again I’m Not questioning all the complaints I do think it’s true but I do question the « couple » who is complaining bcuz they got about 30+ Grammies combined lol 😂 yes ppl like artist HER are getting heavily overlooked and that’s a topic but there’s at least 2 artists on this band wagon that seem like as long as they win there’s no problem but the second they don’t now it’s a problem ... I don’t trust their motives ... y’all can check the list of who has the most Grammies and y’all will see why I say what I say about those « two » lol ...
    I didn’t watch Grammies lol and haven for the past 5 yrs
    My point: are you really getting discriminated against/ snubbed if you’ve won 20 Grammies already??? Let the artists who are really being discriminated against be the voice in this debate as it would apply to them ... but it doesn’t apply to an artist who had 20 Grammies already whose in line to beat Stevie Wonders record ... its about proper voice in my opinion that all I’m saying. Or if they’re gonna be supportive of it , then they being Grammy winners themselves should approach it differently... some of them are complaining as if they never won nothing n that’s not true n it’s misleading
