  • This is my review of the Gravity Blanket and the modifications I made to improve the blanket.
    Aside from the changes made to the size of the blanket from the kickstarter to production, the blanket is fair (3 out of 5).

    Great Video. Thanks so much. Seems like a a lot of hassle to enjoy a cozy blanket.

    I have had my Luna weighted blanket for a month now and I love it. Their beads are spaced out in individual sewed 6inch squares that keep them from shifting too far. A much better design.

    Thank you for this review. I've been looking into getting a weighted blanket for some time and I kept seeing stuff about the Gravity Blanket kickstarter. I wasn't sure about the quality and what you showed was something that I had feared, the shifting weights.
    It doesn't look like it's that much of a chore to fix it but it's still just... doesn't seem like it's worth the price. And with some people claiming they haven't even gotten their blankets, I don't know if it's worth the trouble, as well.
    I'm still looking to get a weighted blanket at some point, just have to keep looking for a better place.

      The sizes and weights people are receiving are also widely inconsistent.

      Mosaic Blankets seem good to me, I think I'm going to get one. Also they don't get to hot because they're thin and breathable, but still heavy.

    Your Idea about the buttons is good. My ideal would be to put anther button on the other side and fabric strip and then the inside would be attached to both the top and bottom. I would also replace the "ties" with the button ideal. Also you could just sew ribbon tie onto the three pieces.

    I'm using mine out of the box, as is, loving it. No mods, don't care. I don't lift the blanket up by the edges, ever, which might cause any bunching or lumps. It just lays flat on my bed. Yea, maybe a hippo hub would be better. I'll give this gravity blanket a few years before I go hippo.

    This was total fraud. They advertised this as being well made. This is a cheap shitty blanket that cost probably like $15 to make.

    • @Emeraldljs
      @Emeraldljs Před 6 lety +3

      Total fraud. A cheap copy of something already being produced on alibaba.

      Lydia S I'm about to throw my blanket away. The inner padding keeps moving out of place because of the cheap straps. I tried doing what the guy in the video did by modifying it so it stays in place but even that doesn't work. Now that I think of it, this blanket probably cost less than $10....

    • @Emeraldljs
      @Emeraldljs Před 6 lety +1

      Maybe even less.

      S R I'll try to get a video up in a few days. Basically it is get iron on patches, fold them in half and iron. Cut a button hole in them and sew them onto the seam of the outer cover. Place the button hole on the inner blanket and sew it on so it matches the flap with the button hole. Repeat this until you have enough attachment points.

      It is ok in winter. Much too hot in the summer, even with the cover off. Takes a while to get used to the weight.

    Did your blanket come via ups or dhl? Did you have to pay duty/brokerage fees?

    • @brokenboy124

      Chris Buechler it came through UPS.

    Can I ask about your experience with Kickstarter and the Creator?

    • @brokenboy124
      @brokenboy124  Před 6 lety

      Lydia S. He updated sparsely, and changed things about the blanket's size but did not inform the backers until after they started shipping them.
      I've kickstarted other items with no problems and a lot better communication in the past.

    • @Emeraldljs
      @Emeraldljs Před 6 lety

      Do you think this product lives up to the expectations of what you thought you backed? Aside from the size change - it seems like from your review there were multiple quality issues as well.

    • @brokenboy124
      @brokenboy124  Před 6 lety +1

      Lydia S
      Honestly is was a not as good as I would have expected for the price, even with the kickstarter discount. Seams weren't even, and the weighted section inside was not fully stiches to the edged, and it was a simple single stich throughout.
      The fact I decided to modify it once I had it, within hours of getting it, was a bit surprising, considering all of the product adjustments and changed that the creator claimed were made.
      The size change being communicated late also was a let down, but the blanket overall was 3 out of 5 as delivered.

    • @Emeraldljs
      @Emeraldljs Před 6 lety +1

      Awesome, I appreciate your honesty! I *never* got mine from KS, so I'll definitely be looking for another manufacturer, but was interested in the quality overall.

    I've been watching this sad Kickstarter campaign from the beginning and reading many comments. Whose brilliant idea was it to fill it with loose beads, not even pocketed or compartmentalized? Sigh... I hope everyone gets their blanket.

  • @TeeColibri

    Wait. Did you even sleep with it? I came for a review on how it felt.

    • @brokenboy124
      @brokenboy124  Před 6 lety

      Tee Colibri Yes. It was ok. But the weight moving around too much is why I made the video. It was better after I made the modifications, but until then it was pretty annoying to use.

  • @PetroicaRodinogaster264
