Talent 1:
Whenever this unit takes damage, restores 100 HP to self; when HP is below 50%, the healing effect increases to 160 HP
Talent 2:
Each time this unit defeats an enemy, increases own Max HP by 120 and ATK by 30, stacking up to 9 times
[Abyssal Hunter] Operators receive 50% of the Max HP increase
Skill 2:
Increases the effect of Talent 1 to 2 times, Block +1, Max HP +60%, ATK +160%
Unlimited duration
SP cost: 70

As I have said before, Abyssal Hunters are pretty much high-risk CC Boosted enemies, but as playable characters
*Enemy : dealing damage to Ulpipi
*Ulpipi : Heal his hp
*Enemy : 👁👄👁
This guy is basically a whale out of the ocean but mostly eat fire on land

the best thing about his talent is that not only it will give free healing against dot but also damage reduction(although only flat), he get 100/160 and with S2 he get 200/320(including true damage btw) damage reduction. on top of that with gladiia, he get bonus 30%. it's may not be game-changing for most of the time but still a helpful one
He basically have True DEF with that talent
That, and gladia's 3.5% hp regen will be transferred over as extra def, which is 590ish hps, means he basically tankier than every defender at base, minus hoshi damage ignore and mudrock's hit shield
The best thing is actually how the healing is calculated after damage reduction unlike def. It makes the damage reduction a lot more effective. He’ll be much stronger when you increase his healing effectiveness or damage reduction.
i.e. 1000 dmg vs 400 def + 50% reduction = 300 damage taken
1000 dmg vs 400 heal + 50% reduction = 100 damage taken (which is a massive 66% decrease from 300)
Don't forget that none of these count as Shelter, so he still has the potential for even more damage reduction.
@Zack_Zander Shelter doesn't stack though, and Hoederer has built-in shelter. So unless they give Ulpian a delta module, it wouldn't make any sense for one of the branvhes to have shelter as a baseline trait.

Having him and Gladiia in one stage is like the new 'SURTR WON'T DIE' comp, but its just two ops. Truly an ex-wife and ex-husband moment of all time.
While the other AH hardly survive without Gladiia, he can just survive alone. No wonder he can survive alone so long to go buy milk while leaving his daughter to Gladiia
Specter The Unchained doesn't have much problem surviving alone with no source of healing as long as you're good with managing the skill cycle (which is made easier with Module 1).
Ulpianus on the other hand can still be killed easily by big physical burst. He needs Gladiia or good Medic to assist him in such case.
So... not really lol.

Nah, I'm dmg user who can oneshot dps player (deal 45k dmg but they're average hp is 25k) but it's just 6k to tank player and they're hp is over 70k
I love his kit, because it makes sense. It is an absolute counter to seaborn and their elemental damage.

His E1 is quite strong and can help you pass most early stages but you will need to aim for Gladia E2 as soon as possible (Even prefer her E2 than Ulpianus E2). Tbh not that great for IS cause getting Gladia at E2 and E1 Ulpianus isn't simple task compare to many other strats
