I am always annoyed of makers making Cinderella empowering and all. She wasn't meant to be empowering or badass. She was a kind soul who was being abused by her step family. She was lonely. She talked to mice (lmao). In this the step mother was actually telling her to dress up. And this so called empowering Cinderella wanted to open a dress shop. No thanks the mice make way better dresses than you. Cinderella didn't go to the ball to f*ck a guy but to escape from her family, have a little time to herself, just be happy in her world. This makers don't understand at all anything and I am getting frustrated. This was the last straw by making the fairy godmother a guy. Just enough

Ok so few points but long on why I think Lily James' Cinderella is better JUST by watching this vid (I haven't watched this movie sorry) so:
- The mice don't look like pieces of plastic
- It gives us a backstory on both why Cinderella is how she is (kind, brave and well orphan) and ALSO on the step-mother when she talks about her loosing her late husband (both of them actually XD)
- It gives a message by showing how hard Ella's life is but she goes on with faith and compassion, she even freaking forgives her step-mother and step-sisters! Which is just so powerful! Like it doesn't mean you should let everyone go over you but to learn forgiveness as a key to happiness
- Do I need to say Cate Blanchett is a QUEEN!!! I love her as the step-mother!!! Just ugh beautiful
- I like the dynamic between Ella and Kit (the prince) because it's like they enjoy each others company as if they were friends first lovers second
- The mayority of the costumes are so pretty and on point! (I say the mayority because I feel like the step-sister´s dresses for the ball are a little um out of the blue)
I don't mean to say this movie is like the worst on history and I mean no harm to anyone involved in the production but I personally feel it's odd and random at least from what I have seen. Also, sorry for any grammar or vocabulary errors

Each Disney princess (contrary to the public opinion) is unique and has a special charm/power whatever you call it. For Snow White, it's her purity and naivety, for mulan and merida it's their fierceness and bravery, for cinderella it's her gentle and soft strength. I love LOVE the Lily James version because they captured it 100% accurately. This one looks so bad, because they completely distorted the very essence of the protagonist. It's 2021 yall, Can we please stop shaming women for their softness and femininity, like it's some sort of weakness?
Also, classics only really make sense when they are made like classics, like, that poor girl was literally dependent on marriage because during that time, feminism didn't exist. She didn't have a choice, realistically speaking (well i guess she technically couldve gone Jane Eyre but how would that have been any better tbh) And now, siutations like those ancient times dont exist, like, what are the odds of you finding a girl who's a slave to her stepmother? So how is this modern retelling even relevant now? What good is sloppily giving this classic, outdated story a feminist spin?

the worst part is how inconsistent the setting is, clearly this is meant to be a quasi-Victorian era but then you have people running around with 21st century fashion, singing songs that wouldn't have existed and speaking in ways that are too modern for the setting and as a result have a noticeably offputting vibe. I also don't understand the casting choices AT ALL because usually you want actors who can act, y'know?
It’s not even Victorian. Victorian is a very specific era in fashion, and this movie’s “old-timey meets modern” aesthetic doesn’t even pick one time period to mix with modern elements, it’s just so all over the place that you can’t even trace a general time period
I'm always down for a jukebox musical, but the song selection for this was all over the place.
It’s like the writers picked the music first and wrote a script around the songs.
There are only a few adaptations I accept as canon: The Brandy and Whitney Houston rendition of Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella/ 2. Cinderella with Lily James/ Ever After with Drew Barrymore the rest is “we don’t know her” territory. Except for this version which is in the “we don’t acknowledge her existence for our own mental health and sanity” level.
What about Hilary Duff? And Anne Hathaway in Ella Enchanted? (Though tbf the second on is more of a based off not really a complete retelling)

Honestly, i don't understand why they are still creating new adaptions from an old history that already has MANY remakes. I think that the message they are trying to send it was great, but it would be so much better if the character wasn't Cinderella. They totally dismissed Cinderella's entire personality. She wasn't mean to be a "Girl boss" who wants to rule her life and stuff, she was a dreamy girl and kind girl who want to go to the ball to enjoy one night trying to forget her horrible life at home. They could try to make a whole different history for Camila but i guess that's too much to ask. Besides, as a theathre child, i can tell that this movie has some of the worst acting's i've ever seen.
