Let me know if you were committed enough to sit down and watched the whole thing 🤣
Cool. excellent video and even better describing what is needed in way of tools and torque specs. Question....why not use a Trickle Charger on terminals to avoid the computer reset for loss of memory when battery disconnected. I have a 2015' RCF 20,100 miles. ATLanta...peace.
@@markbarr3733 well really when working anything electrical, you dont really want electrical current to be present. Also there was no loss of settings.
MEEEEEE!
@@BWItoATXF haha thanks!
Great vid as usual bro! I thought the 370Z plugs were buried...these are worse, but definitely doable with patience. THANK!!
You are a maintenance pioneer in the RCF community !!! I greatly appreciate all your knowledge and videos !!! Thank you 🙏!!!
Always man. Trying to help people save money is the goal.
And time
Notes to others:
1) be more careful with battery, potential to cause havoc if you accidentally ground the negative to positive.
2) prior to spark plug removal, blow out or vacuum any debris. Grit in the cylinder(s) might mean a $20,000+ rebuild.
3) Check the gap prior to install, most of the time its fine, but not always.
4) very light coating of Antiseize might help next removal and ensure a good torque wrench reading. Also properly torquing the plugs are recommended.
Too tight and you may strip the threads in the aluminum head, leading to $6000 of work to fix. Not tight enough and the plugs may loosen, causing issues and also may end up with grit ruining the cylinder walls.
You really help us all thinking about owning the RC F, thank you.
I appreciate that. It didnt look too hard right?
Every time I look for an "RCF HOW TO" video, my man Barry has already done it! Thanks for what you do bro and I hope to see you back in an F!
Thank you! Haha
Just hit 60k and the dealer wanted $915 for just the spark plugs 💀. This video will be saving me quite a bit of money so thanks man! You're always coming in clutch for the RCF community 👏.
thank you for your kind words. This was the goal of the channel.
I watched the whole thing. Excellent job. Looks really tight up in there. Did the plugs for my gs350 and is350. This is another level of frustration. Haha
I think the V6 is harder to do.
Excellent video my friend! Thanks a lot for taking the time to shoot this. As a DIY enthusiast, the more details the better. I certainly was committed to watching everything thoroughly, twice actually. I will refer to it again when I have to.
Thank you for watching. I hope I showed some struggle and not make it look too simple even though it kind of was.
@@thehuangbros The only thing I would have done different, is utilize a torque wrench. I wouldn’t take a chance on this motor. That’s just me, otherwise I certainly appreciate the content. I think we had one of our IS F members snap a spark plug in one of his ports. I think it caused for a motor change. I can’t recall the details. What’s next on the RC F?
@@XBrandonLeeX765 chassis bracing up front and rear rotors.
Great vid. Very clear and well done. Good to know what tools I'd need to do the job. The 7th plug you did seems like the toughest one.
Yeah, had to remove little extra.
Thank you for making this! I needed to get it done on my car soon
Im always happy to help the community.
Made it look real easy!
Simple enough to follow and to not deter away from this.
U guys are awesome
Wish i had neighbors like you
Thanks.
Thank you for your effort! It will help me out to do same thing for my car!!!
I hope it helps you! That is my goal. Thanks for using this as a reference. I hope I made it look doable.
You made it look fun lol. Now I don't have to reference the CL IS F forum.
Also inspired to perform and record a caliper swap now. Trying to catch up lol.
Great vid.
What calipers are you switching to?
@@thehuangbros swapping to OEM orange on all 4 corners. Excessive, but necessary.
@@BWItoATXF itll be a good look
Nice job man, seems like Lexus went out of their way to make it easy to do.
I remember the first time I did battery and it died after first start up I got nervous af 🤣.
Lol many still believe this spark plug change is hard to do but i like to think I made it “look easy”? Maybe.
A lot of people say it’s very difficult. Doesn’t look any more difficult than a transverse V6 where you practically have to feel around without being able to see anything. Even my hemi was more difficult than this looked. Thanks for making this video, I think I’ll tackle mine soon.
@throttletherapy_nh
@@ragilbert2004 np
@@ragilbert2004 hemis have two spark plugs per cylinder right? My friend showed me on his ram 1500. Even for him it was hard getting the second plug in the back.
Great video as usual
Thanks for watching as alwaysg
Do those plugs come pre-gapped? If not what gap does it require?
Amazing Videos Begin to End now I need claw and magnet lol
Its true. You never know. Things just drop.
@@thehuangbros true that
Thanks for the video, got any idea what is recommended when to change the coil packs? I got a gs f
200k would be fine. If tracking, i recommend every 100k
Gr8 tutorial as usual. Can you add a supercharger to this vehicle? How many extra horses and any idea how much it would run?
A supercharger is in the plan.
Thanks for doing that. Now I have a better idea how to do mine. Just got my 2015 RCF a month ago.
Did sparkplugs on 2007 LS460, similar process.
Very similar definitely recommend removing the stock strut towers and brace. Really just moved everything away.
I would assume that this would apply to the GS-F as well. Thanks!
Of course. ISF and GSF. 😁
Has bolt tray but doesn't use it to hold bolts...
Top man 👍👍
Thanks 🙂
So after one year of using those plugs how do you like them?
What do you recommend should I just go for this set or the same heat range of stock plugs?
And how do they compare to the ruthenium hx spark plugs. Thank you 😊
I cant compare to Ruthenium HX. Ive never used them. They work just fine still. If ever unsure, best to go to OEM.
I just got a 2016 RC-F it only has 19k miles on it. Do you rec I do the spark plugs this year since its 60k or 6 years so would you wait for a little more mileage
Still good to to. Do it at 30k if the starts are sluggish
How often do you need to change the Lexus rcf spark plugs?
I recommend every 50k miles. Every 60k miles is what owner manual says
what is the extra torque wrench extender you used here
The extensions? It makes it easier to do this job.
hey barry! have you had any issues with your rotors warping? ive been through two sets of rotors because of warping in only like 20k miles
What are the symptoms you feel? Vibration? Hot spots?
I don't have any CEL but I feel like an intermittent little vibration at the steering wheel. I wonder if it has anything to do with the ignition coils. I've replaced the spark plugs. I cannot find anything about ignition coil replacement. Do you have any idea when Lexus advice to replace them??
If you dont feel the vibration while parked and idle, then it could be front wheel alignment
@@thehuangbros it happens while driving or parked
@@GiotheGhreat what mileage
Thanks a lot are this from RR-Racing
I got these elsewhere.
@@thehuangbros ohh ok
did you have to gap these or did they come gapped already
They come pregapped but definitely check the gap regardless.
@@thehuangbros where did you get them from? bc rr racing says they gap the plugs to spec and there the same part number
@@D.rexofficial i get mine through amazon.
@@thehuangbros oh be careful amazon sells alot of fake ngk plugs
Huang I have the question. My rcf 2015 after header install I have check engine on. And lost the torque.what can I do know or u know some ones know about this please help me my man thank you
Is there any exhaust leak? May need a tune to get max power & tq from the headers.
With the one step NGK spark plugs is only with tune or FBO? Can you use one step if you don’t have tune or FBO?
I just have an exhaust lol. No tune
@@thehuangbros Thank you for the video🙏
@@Blackntanxguy no problem. My channel is here to help.
How often do you change spark plugs?
Every 60k according to owners manual but i do it every 50k since im not using oem.
Same process for the ISF?
Yeap I did this same process for my friend’s ISF. Took an hr
@@thehuangbros For sure, thanks!
Did mine today thx Bro
Amazing. This help much? Did you use the same or similar setup as mine?
@@thehuangbros yes your video was definitely helpful bro. I went with the OEM replacement from Rockauto. One thing I did different was warmed up the engine before doing this job. I can't seem to recall who but some one mentioned on the FB page that warming up the engine helps in preventing the spark plugs from loosening up if done cold. So I warmed up the engine before replacement and tightened the plugs to 15 ft pounds. I also did the front lip install using ur video. I bought that from Yasho Chen. I took bumper off and bolted the lip to the bumper but I had hard time installing the bumper back on and it also don't line up properly at the clips on the side there is a bit more gap than It should be. May be I bolted the lip too tight and it's pulling the bumper down. Took the bumper of couple time but it still fits the same for some reason will text u on Fb.
@@karambir87 damn that is a whole process.
Did you need to gap them?
Im a firm believer all spark plugs should be gapped to ensure it is correct. I just didn’t do it on video
Me too is why I asked. The gap is .040 or .032 I seen it varies on the brand so I'm confused.
@@josegomezberrios5930 ive left mine on .032 and ive also heard different gaps as well. All dependent on what the car has; Boosted, NA, Tuned, etc.
What milage is this recommended..
Same question. IS 350 F
Every 60k for the GSF schedule.
This is every 60k for Lexus RCF and GSF. I will be doing it every 50k however.
@@thehuangbros cool. ISF might be similar mileage
@@allboutthemojo its most likely all the same scheduled mileages for the services
18:41 mine wont come out and starts creaking after enough pressure 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Wait really? It could just be rust or seized.
@@thehuangbros Had to take it to the Dealer and they confirmed it was seized and after using a borescope, they said if I had pushed it I would've stripped the threads...... turned out I had 2 more "seized" plugs but thankfully they didn't charge me anything extra re labor since it was the first change. Factory prob had them on tight and then 60k miles of usage. In either case, appreciate the video bro and I'll give it another go at 120k!
@@Skittlezz45 should be easier this next time!
Jesus no working room
there isnt but it isnt too bad
