It's movies like this that make me shake my head. Not because I dislike them I loved these flix. I just can not believe it was 40+ years ago, I remember watching this on HBO early 80's. I always wondered what happened to Terence Hill, he just kind of faded away. If I remember right Terence was from Europe, Italy I believe but you never would have guessed that watching him on screen. Speaking of HBO, I remember when it first launched on cable it was like a whole different world. All the networks would sign off the air at midnight but when cable came to town you lost track of time. Everybody was late for school back then. lol

My first Terrence Hill movie was "They call me Trinity". It was 1971 and I was in the US Navy stationed in Londonderry Northern Ireland and we had a small 50 seat movie theater on base. This movie was the hokiest movie ever but funny in its own way. That was the only movie we had on base for about 3 weeks so needless to say everyone knew most of the dialogue by heart from watching it so many times. I still recall one scene where the horse that Terrence arrived on was caked with dirt in one shot then clean in the next. I was 18 at the time and I just now realized that's my first movie blooper ever.

Free movies they had a pool, bowling alley, library, baseball field, a bus that would run every hour from the base through the town back to the base a big Pier they use in ww2 to fuel subs turn in to a fishin pier best fishin ever. @@billywayne902 On base in Derry were vending machines for soft drinks & beer (I didn't drink). The cans were 100% steel and no pop tops so most of the drinkers carried a "church key" aka can opener. Cigarettes were 25 cents a pack (I didn't smoke either). It definitely was a different way of life then. My just married wife was saving Mac & Cheese box tops (purchased in the Exchange) for an offer of a set of cooking pots. I looked closer at the details and discovered the offer had expired 2 years earlier. Needless to say we didn't always get the first choice of products sent from the states.

Type into your CZcams search bar, Rare Cult Movies and a channel by that name should appear. And at the bottom of the homepage you will see the movie title and the year it was made (1968).
The action supposedly takes place in the Rocky Mountains of Utah in winter (though in reality it was filmed somewhere in the Alps!).
The beautiful snowy, frigid, landscape helps to give a bleak, stark undercurrent to the impending air of menace, complimenting the story beautifully.
It breaks all the conventions of westerns; no wonder the studio system wanted this film buried. They hated it, but they won’t take it down because that would draw attention to it. So long as it’s only watched by a few knowing aficionados but not the wider public, they are happy to leave it alone.
      Very brief overview:
A grieving beautiful young mixed race widow hires a mute gunman to avenge her husband’s death at the hands of a gang of vicious bounty hunters, hired by a rich politician who wants to use a food shortage in an extremely cold winter to drive the locals off their properties when the prices rise exponentially, hoping to make a huge profit on their holdings as they become ever more desperate.
The bounty hunters ruthlessly kill anyone trying to steal food, no matter how minor the infraction or how desperate they are. The scene is set for a confrontation. Especially so as Klaus Kinsski is the ringleader of the bounty hunters in this one ... !

But VPRO ('left winged' radio & tv programs, from humor to cult music, artists, writers) showed great humor and progressive programs every sunday evening. And on the German channels there were great movies, but they were synchronised from the English language to German language with the SAME two exaggerated voices for EVERY classic American, English, French, or Italian movie for 20 to 30 years(!!!) 😆😝I'm so very glad with the internet, CZcams, and NetFlix, now I can see everything I want, and in the right language with Dutch subs. My mom and I loved this movie when I was a very young kid. We talked about it through the years but could never remember the name. Every few years we'd bring it back up and would try again to find it. Today after 40 or so years it randomly popped up and I knew this was it. My mom died a couple years ago. Wish I could show her. We kept thinking it was called super cop. Such a vague memory for me.

Kelly Bundy: Let go of my hair, you little psychopath!
      Bud Bundy: Die, commie bimbo!
Peggy Bundy: Now, Bud! I thought we talked about this before.
      Bud Bundy: What's that, Mom?
Peggy Bundy: You know, sneaking up behind your sister, pulling her hair, pretending to kill her. You remember the effect it had on Grandma? nobody likes it; nobody thinks it's funny, so cut it out, okay?
      Bud Bundy: Sure, Mom.
      [a horn honks from outside]
Peggy Bundy: Now, go to school.
Kelly Bundy: [to Bud as they walk out] I *hate* you!
      Bud Bundy: Good!

I watched this movie so much as a kid. Probably appealed to me so much because the whole script and premise is so childish and silly. Part of me wants to say that the movie was aimed at kids, but the whole smuggling subplot that pops up from time to time seems like this movie is trying to take itself seriously at times.
I remember singing the Super Snooper song... with the benefit of the subtitles, I see my lyrics were wildly off the mark. But they weren't any less nonsensical and insipid.
