    I love my P20E. A bargain in my book. Traded in a GS Mini on it and never looked back. Plays like butter. Lives in my living room (parlor!) and gets more play than my 00028 and D18. Mostly due to size. Don’t get me wrong, love my Martins, it’s just the P20 is easy to pick hanging out watching TV etc.

    Just got a deal on the vintage mahogany p20e. It looks great. Didn’t sound great until I changed the strings. I put Elixir strings on. I think I’m gonna love it once I get used to it. Sounds good plugged in.

    Now this is a really interesting post thanks! Particularly in my case. I love this little guitar BUT it has had a serious problem... playing on stage then the original butter bean tuning know snapped ... disaster. Then after repair under warrantee it happened AGAIN ... At home tho. So I heard this was an issue with others. Then I see you posted an "after market" sample with Kluson vintage deluxe tuners which have replaced the originals.... I wonder if there is any sign of old screw holes or whether the Kluson were an exact fit..(??).. thanks again for posting...

    I have had one of these for a couple years. When I think about trading it in towards an upgrade , I just cannot part with it because it is very transportable and hard to beat in terms of value. Most of all it sounds great.

    "Made in China." "Eastman has done a good job of proving that's not a negative." Great shout out to Eastman. I've owned 6 Eastman from their double top DT30-GACE to a PCH3 GACE, so a big fan. By the way, the PCH3 has laminate sides and back yet sounds like a solid wood guitar. I've owned Martins, Breedlove, Eastman, Bourgeois solid wood guitars so I know what I'm talking about. Point being, when built with proper bracing and the right laminate wood combination, laminates sound fantastic.

      100% Agree! I learned early on from Yamaha that when done properly, laminate sides can have massive response if they pay attention to thickness and bracing!

      But this is a PRS not Eastman. Hmm. I like the one Suzanne Santo has.

    THIRD time returned under warrantee for broken / snapped tuners.... your idea of replacement set justified

    • @JonathanWimpenny
      @JonathanWimpenny Před rokem +1

      @Ramona Music Center Yes I know, apparently many others have had the same thing and there is a post somewhere how to replace all the tuners. I do like my little (black satin) guitar though... pity it spends most of its time in transit back to gear4music. If it happens out of warantee I'll take others' advice and switch all tuners ....

    Played today and knew it was a soild mahagony top because of the midrange grunt it projects. It was listed $650 and had the smaller vintage white tuners. Honestly, it doesnt have an inspiring sound but it it compensates in playability, looks and modern/vintage vibe. Im going back to buy it because with a Anthem pickup and some EQ to tame mud, it will really punch thrlugh on its own with other intruments in the mix.

    Would you play the parlour se yourself as a small easy to travel with occasionally using plugged in kind of guitar? I need something like this for acoustic numbers in my covers band but also nice to practice on?

    • @RamonaMusicCenter
      @RamonaMusicCenter  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I do travel and play with a parlor so the size is great!

    As many others I've had the exact same issue with the those crabby tuners. I've had mine for 1,5 years and the 6'th E string button broke of yesterday. It feels like it will happen very soon with the G string too. Before that you could actually see the contours of the metal through the plastic, as if it has not been placed right in the middle from the factory.
    Otherwise I love the guitar, but those tuners stink. Come on PRS ...you must do better than that!

      My friend, the heart is not enough, i need an answer😆. It looks really cool. I searched some on ebay, i guess there are plenty of custom covers.. never had this idea before... but how do you know if it fits? i mean this one is probably made exactly for p20

      Lol Those are actually pretty good words. In my case, I only review guitars that come through my store, not one's sent from any company so I have no financial incentives to go soft on them. That's the main reason I use that word but always open to suggestions. Thanks for watchin!

      I have one, my Dreadnought is 50 years old and I'm really not interested in drilling holes in it. I'm also not interested in taking it up to a tech for 200 and something odd dollars of pickup stuck in there not including labor.
      I purchased one of these, it was an open box it was a nice discount.
      It looks like a parlor guitar the neck feels kind of fat for a parlor guitar but it's nice, and it plays very nicely and it sounds like a parlor guitar, a little thin but kind of bluesy old school kinda in a Robert Johnson way unplugged. (I'm not a blues player per se). Plugged in sounds good.
      But I want to talk about the neck. At this price the neck is superb, what I like about PRS necks is that the G tuning post string lines up pretty good with the G slot in the nut which means the G generally sounds better than if it was angled towards the outside of the headstock like most 3x3 acoustic guitars and quite a few electric guitar are. The neck is sort of fat, and the scale is slightly less than a full size but not as small as a baritone ukulele.
      Say hi to Grandma for me.

      Anyone reading the comment it sounds like a toy, it doesn’t! Just bought one, this review really helped. The guy doing this honest review did exactly that, he is obviously a very good player indeed, better than me and I play professionally, he has nothing to gain from lying about this guitar. It sounds great!
