I'm in Florida. I ordered mine 2 1/2 years ago and got it 6 months ago. Believe it or not I never drove it in rain until last night. I was not sure what to expect but all I got was damp elbows. As I go above 30 mph the nose wind pressure wave parts the rain and I feel not even a tiny bit of mist while the wipers are keeping visibility good. After struggling and almost dying due to poor visibility on a scooter or motorcycle with no wipers or even a helmet shield this was amazing. No doors or windows, just a narrow roof and yet I was dry as rain was pouring down. And I had the full traction of three car tires instead of two round motorcycle tires.
And yes, the interior of the Arcimoto is completely waterproof - I parked mine outdoors not even under an awning for the first 9 months I had mine. I put lightweight, easy-to-remove "waterproof seat towels" (DriSeats brand, IIRC) over the seats when parked just so the seats would be dry-ish when I went to drive; but no major efforts to keep the elements out other than that.
I used to have the XY150ZK enclosed scooter (and I drove that year round in Chicago weather including -20°F weather) and similarly the canopy does a great job keeping you dry and warm. Only issue I had was at stop signs or low speed that if the rain was blowing sideways, you would get a little wet until moving. Once moving it was perfect even in those conditions. It looks like Arcimoto handles it very similarly.
Their resistance to doors is pretty funny to watch. :) I guess it's needed to hit the low entry price. But Mark, as a lifelong Michigan resident I can tell you that exposure to the temps and elements in our winters do, in fact, NOT have any surprising health benefits 😆

Can confirm - in all but the heaviest downpours or high sideways wind, it's perfectly drivable in the rain. With the half "West Coast Doors" available now, splash from wheels is negligible - you only really get rain intruding in the cabin at lower speeds dripping on your elbows and outer edges of legs where it's wider than the roof (or when sideways wind brings it in.) At speed, the forward movement keeps the wind whipping the rain past the driver (rear seat passenger can get some spray at all times.) In rainy Portland commutes, my legs would get slightly dripped on while stopped. I would get far wetter walking from my FUV to the office door than during the drive. P.S. A mid-weight jacket (A Showers Pass "Portland", made for bicycle commuting in the rain,) light gloves, and a hat (if I had hair I could probably forego the hat) are enough with the seat heaters and handlebar grip heaters to keep me warm. Might not handle upstate New York or Rocky Mountains "well below 0" driving, but for just below freezing it's fine.
Just for our open states. CA and OR: standard drivers license, no helmet. WA: requires a 3-wheel endorsement and helmet. FL: required a M endorsement, no helmet over 18 years of age

Fantastic new product on so many levels, but it really comes down to price. It seems like many companies start with super high prices which penalize the early adopters and limit sales, when they should give them a better deal and get products on the road. The initial versions often have bugs that get solved in later versions, so why pay a premium for a lesser product. What do you think the initial price should be? My hope is $3,950.
This does not hold up to scrutiny. Price can NOT be compared directly with cars that burn gas, need oil changes, have motors and transmissions that can blow up and car insurace costs literally 5 times as much as the motorcycle rate we get. Mine is just $130/yr for a good Allstate policy. My power bill went up only $2/mo and I have a 3 year warranty. Suggesting 4 grand is just plain idiotic! The raw materials alone cost that much. Price has already dropped from $25K in 2020 to 18K in 2021 and the big new factory is still gearing up and adding automation.
We offer heated seats and grips for all our vehicles, and the windshield and panoramic roof do a great job of minimizing wind chill. @@arcimoto My other concern was whether or not Arcimoto's could use any public vehicle chargers. If that is possible and you are selling vehicles in Vancouver, Canada then I will probably put in an order this week.
I disagree, as a Florida resident. We don't have to be driving during the short time the rain is driven heavily on our sides. With speed the rain blows by the doors. Only about twice each summer would you want to stop and point the nose into the wind to stay dry and here the rain will not give you hypothermia if you do get wet. What a tiny insignificant inconvenience in exchage for burning no gas with a fun ride, and dirt cheap insurance rates.

@@david77james You have never tried it and you have no imagination or ability to compare to other vehicles intelligently. A billion motorcycles do great with tandem seating. You are not aware of the acoustics in the design - the wrap around windshield, the roof and the trunk bulkhead form an acoustic conduit that means it is easy to talk to each other with no helmet mikes. The only thing you can't get is a BJ while driving. There are several alternate models with a front seat only and a flat bed or cargo box behind. You didn't consider that either.

I WANT ONE, but I am in Australia and we will not be getting these any time soon I am betting. If for no other reason than that our government makes it so Hard for EV's.
I was in Eugene and a woman pulled up in her FUV at the pizza shop. It was cool, had the doors on it..... after eating we walked outside to our car, and noticed the FUV seats and interior were wet from the rain event that came thru while were inside eating. Seems like a lexan window mounted to the door would fix that problem. The lexan window could be secured with a couple magnets to the frame as well, so the lexan isnt flopping in the wind.. The wet seat/interior is something Arcimoto needs to address....otherwise it makes more sense to just buy a motorcycle for 20K. A bench type seat option would be nice, so you could squeeze two up front in a pinch.
No. Motorcycle owners carry a cover or at least a rag for their seats to keep them dry and cooler while not sitting on them. I carry a waterproof rain cover for when I anticipate rain wetting the seat while not parked shelterd at home. Half a billion motorcycles around the world have no doors or windows or roofs and yet they do fine. A two seat wide vehicle would be an entirely different design that goes against Arimoto's goal of more sustainable transportation.

not rain, Snow! northeasterners midwesterners, mountain folk are concerned about snow, ice, slush, white outs, powder days. can you handle it?
The FUV performs well in the snow on plowed roads at safe speeds.
@@arcimoto most vehicles do well on plowed roads. can you test with snow tires on snow covered roads. what issues are there with a 3 wheeled vehicle?
Fun video, I was surprised at how far he had to go to get wet! Thanks for posting the video.
Somewhere I read that there will be full enclosure doors that can be removed, are there any videos? And the best i see in some pics are doors that open like wings, one of each side?
I'd love to see a video on how you handle snow in this. Oregon may have moderate temperatures, but not so in upstate New York!
Eugene got some snow and we made a video! czcams.com/video/K7exvoSMPBI/video.html
Nice ride n drive. Awesome content, looking forward to more like it!
Well i guess .. in holland we do have dramatically more wind .. i know for shure its not a car ... but he it looks great !!! Wouldnt mind having a good raincoat in the car !!
I think its good that oregon has a car company. This will help to reduce co2 emissions ALOT
Oregon is a great home for three wheel innovation!
That is so cool. We don't get much rain where I live. Up to 90 days per year over 100˚ is my problem. Any plans for that environment?
To cool off, just drive a little faster
@@arcimoto LOL
@@arcimoto Funny.
I've tried it convection oven style. Not my favorite thing.
when Arcimoto in Europe? ;)

"In the coming years!"
As someone who lives in an area that gets 32 inches of rain per year, avoiding standing water is pretty difficult.
Fun job, lucky dude!
lol 4:20. Great vid!!
Love these things! Looking forward to seeing your growth :)
Come on Apple....
Buy Arcimoto and help them scale!!!!! We want these bad boys in a bad way.
I would like the archimoto company to export this vehicle to Brazil
In 5 to 10 years that is possible.
@Acrimoto - Very cool. Like the idea of you guys still trying to innovate. Just get those solid doors done and even with the new factory coming (a year or 2 from now?) please boost the current production rate. What is it currently - 2 or 3 a day?
Video idea: Would like to see the FUV recorded on the road in the evening when it's dark out so we can get a sense of it's visibility to other drivers, not to mention to just to get a general look / esthetic of the FUV with its lights on in darker settings.
Winters are still harsh on the East Coast. Will Arcimoto's R&D design a sealed vehicle with similiar features like the Nimbus Halo?
There was a time when everyone simply stayed home and burned wood in the fireplace during the worst part of winter. Let's question if it was ever OK to use the raw brute force of fossil fuels to power through all conditions. It is not turning out so great, is it?
I'm in WA near Seattle. I was concerned about inclement weather. I want it enclosed to be able to lock my shopping bags out of sight as I make stops around town. Also do not want back seat open for uninvited guests at a stop! Otherwise looks great.
The lockable rear cargo box sounds like the ticket!
There are a billion motorcycles with no doors. One design does not have to be perfect for all climates. If that was true the snowmobile would never have become an industry. In Florida, doors on mine would just block the cooling breezes when I am parked and doors in cars were needed to hide the steel beams. The FUV cage needs no steel beam doors to provide safety.

Come to the Netherlands please, I like this so much! I have a motorbike and drive allways. Our country is normal to drive with a electric bike. So I think this is a good solution here for all the wet weather here.
Snow next? Go for an icy parking lot and show us what the F stands for
Exactly. I would buy it but it snows here and even when it doesn’t I would like to see an option where it is completely covered. Something you can remove like a “convertible”
I drive mine in "just below freezing" temperatures.

Arcimoto people!
Duuude! I'm getting so stoked everytime I see your videos! Shout out from Sweden and keep it up!
This truly does look like fun! Do you have a listing of laws in each state for 3 wheeled vehicles?
Just for our open states. CA and OR: standard drivers license, no helmet. WA: requires a 3-wheel endorsement and helmet. FL: required a M endorsement, no helmet over 18 years of age
Hope to see this beast in India ❤️
Perfect!!!
Maryland. Come to Maryland please
"Start spreading the news! Starting today, we are now accepting vehicle orders from customers in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, *Maryland* , Virginia, Georgia, and Washington D.C.. If you order today, deliveries are expected to arrive within the next 120 days."
When can i buy one in Texas?
You can preorder now, working on opening Texas sales later this year
Couldn't you install the splash guard on the support bars in some way and having it like a bungee sling where it slings back to its original position when you don't have it extended and locked? Feels like the current solution will take too much work for it to be convenient.
I was thinking that too. It seems like the front fenders are where the r and d department need to be working on
Really really nice 👍🏾
Are you guys planning on exporting out of the States to other countries. I'd love one of those down under.
We are currently accepting preorders internationally, including in AU.
We are now delivering our FUVs to pre-order customers in California, Washington, Florida, and our home state of Oregon. As we expand our service and delivery networks, we will open up vehicle reservations for new regions. We will then reach out to our pre-order customers in turn to complete their reservations, customize their FUVs, and arrange delivery.

Come to Texas where the rain go’s sideways. lol soaked
Planning on it! Texas is one of our most popular states for overall preorders
@@arcimoto thats cool but when the 40 mph wind is blowing rain sideways, those little feet tarps wont keep us dry. I'm am however looking forward to future R&D on this , and to test driving one. Maybe you will have them at Port- Aransas this summer.
how about snow? what's the wind like inside at high speeds on a cold day?
The front windshield blocks a lot of wind, and on very cold days you can turn on the seat warmers and throttle warmers to stay extra cozy.

Price has already dropped from $25K in 2020 to 18K in 2021 and the big new factory is still gearing up and adding automation.
how much does it cost for one that can go 20 mph?
That would be an entirely different class of vehicle, an ebike or velomobile that needs no license.
Next video.... Snow!
How about IN THE SNOW?? I’m moving to North Idaho! Will a FUV be usable 12 months a year?

Bring to Singapore
Most of our rain in Florida comes from wind driven thunderstorms. A twenty mile per hour side wind would be a soaker.

Lack of side by side seating really sucks.
Not really. Still a very comfortable and social experience, once you try it!
@@arcimoto - It's a great looking vehicle, but a motorcycle type seating sucks, when you have all that structure for one person, and a distant passenger. Just not my cup of tea.
You didn't consider that either.
do you need a license to drvie a Arcimoto electric scooter
Right Now I Am Looking 4 A three-wheel electric scooter that doesn't need a driver license my friends
I WANT ONE, but I am in Australia and we will not be getting these any time soon I am betting.
If for no other reason than that our government makes it so Hard for EV's.
We're working on it mate!
