"Why the stars in the sky,
are the same kind of stars,
that I see in your eyes."
What a beautiful line.
I thought the same thing!
My grandma played this song all the time when I was little, and it gives me an unmeasurable sense of nostalgia.
Carlo not only had a killer voice, he could riff like a jazz singer, was a producer, and played the drums! RIP Carlo your fans
miss you.
I was beginning to think I was delusional---this song has been bouncing around my aging brain for a couple weeks. I tried searching for it by the lyrics, but all I got was "new" stuff. I finally found this one when I entered "Do Wop--Tell Me Why". I was just a little kid when this song was popular, but it definitely left me with a fond memory. A "feel good" song!
Love it!
I grew up with this record! Played it over and over. I bopped to this disc for years. I'm still boppin' to this at 73 years old....forever may it still be played....
Listen to Norman Fox and the Rob Roys the original.
MAY I HAVE THIS DANCE?
I'm with you. I heard this song years ago then forgot about it. A few months ago I had this vague sense this existed while listening to another old song, then I found it again by chance!
I was born in the small town of Oxnard, California in 1953. I was 4 years old when the Rob Roys version came out and 7 or 8 when the Belmonts sang it. "Tell me why" brings me great memories from my childhood. Especially from my "Teen Idol" who is my older brother David who I love very much. Big brother, you'll always be my teen Idol!!!!😎👍
I love this song. Makes me want to get up and dance.
A CLASSIC from May 1961...
Met Carlos and Angelo at empire Hotel in NYC I was with Dion and they had a reunion concert that night at Madison square garden. Great guys. Memories aren't they great !!

Up-Tempo Doo Wop is the BEST!
Heard this song on the local oldies station. There are several versions, so it took me awhile to find this version, which is superior, IMO. What a great song, I was learning how to walk when it came out, which means I’m getting pretty old.
Old is new.
Love this track definitely a favourite
So great to hear this song again. Many memories.
Thank goodness for CZcams.
Da. Bronx. Love. It. And. The. Belmont. Just. Great. Music. Timeless.
Both version are great two Great Bronx Groups one classic
I sang this song with Freddie and Angelo of the Belmonts in RAO’S in east Harlem one night the place went crazy every single person in the place came over to meet them but the best was Frankie pelligrino one of the owners of RAO’S as he shook there hands saying I know who you are it’s a honor to meet you guys I also had my old friend Carl Casano singing bass who said it was one of the best days in his whole life Phil caggiano
WOW!!!! What a story! 👏💪
I love it❤
such a great song.
Freddie was my fave of the group, he had a beautiful smile. They were all great guys.
I agree. He was my favorite, too. I hope to meet him when I get to Heaven.
Wah wah ooh... love it
Been looking for this song all week. Glad I finally found it
Great Sound love the bass backbeat
Great song ❤️❤️
Un sonido exquisito para mis oídos.
One of my all time favorites back in the day.....I love that I was a teen when doo wop was in style.....
Carlo had a really nice voice.
Belmonts were great even without Dion.👍🏿
Hell yes!
Dion fabricated his coin toss story, with Ritchie Valens...Im sorry, I lost respect for the man...it was well known. Waylon himself said who the two were...Dion wasn't one of them
@@aaronking7326 it wasn’t a coin toss. He thought it was too expensive
@@dukejohnson1956 with all do respect sir, it was a coin toss
Totally agreed! NO doubt....
Great song by the belmonts I listen to it all the time whatever happened to them
I was there when they made that song
love this

I played this at the gas pumps. A young lady heard and didn't leave without asking me who did it. Good music is timeless.

What I can't understand is that Dion left the group to pursue a solo career into Country western and blues. he said he didn't want to do rock & roll anymore. I don't think he was telling the truth since his following songs were not of that genre and used the Del satins to back him up on his so-called solo songs. Runaround sue, the wanderer, etc. These were songs he could have done with the Belmonts. I think he just wanted solo billing so only his name would appear on the record and make more money for himself. I don't think the Del-Satins ever got credit for doing backup for him on his solo career. Not right to turn your back on friends you grew up with. But then I heard that the Belmonts were fed up with Dion because of his drug use and maybe it was a mutual parting of the ways?
Dion never said that. He wanted to do more rock oriented music whereas the Belmonts wanted to keep doing clean cut doo wop.
jgv007-I am sure you are RIGHT - he wanted top billing! After researching info of the Del Satins with their NY work, the billing said 'he wanted a rockier felling' to his song The Wanderer. In my outro on my show, I mentioned about money, and wondered if the Del Satins got proper royalties or just 'studio' rates. Betcha the later! PeanutzinUK
The Belmonts are said to have thrown Dion out of the band because of his worsening drug use.
jgv007 I knew Dion from New York when I was a kid I’d sneak in bars just to see the Belmonts
precision Brown thanks for the useless info
thanks
Nice song

Do wop forever!
Doo wop,is the best music in the fifties. Filtered into the 70s and 80s minus the British rock of the 60s.
The Belmonts covered this song very well. Norman Foxx and the Rob Roys came from the same neighborhood!
XD perfect!
Why Dion why!!!! Why did you leave the Belmonts and deprive us of your talents !!!
Heroin
@@stephenbrower4216 get a clue. Heroin wasn’t the reason Dion left
@@BoomBoom77156 He was a addict...listen to his hour long interview
I’m late to this convo but pretty sure Dion just wanted to do his own thing while the Belmonts would focus on their Doo-Wop career. Of course Dion and the group would still stay in contact afterwards.
With Dion or without Dion 👍🏻❤️
The Rob Roys did it FIRST. I like both versions.
R0b Roys rock!!!!
The Belmonts version is far superior to Norman Fox & Robroys version. Carlo Mastroangelos vocals put this over the top
Oh ya! I'm not sure when I first heard this song, possibly on an oldies LP, even though I'm old enough to have heard it when it was new. But I don't believe we heard very much doowop in Vancouver, B.C. in the 1950's.
You had to be in NY, Chicago, or LA to really get a lot of it.
Also performed by Norman Fox and the Rob Roys with good success.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Is so crazy i,m dominican
Great song. There's also a good Sha Na Na cover version as well.
Great song. Lead singer is on par with Dion.
No.
It's Carlo. Dion had already left the belmonts.
Killshotx7 no in this song dion hasent joined the belmots yet
You guys are totally misinterpreting what this guy said. I believe the lead here is Carlo Mastrangelo and yes he’s on the same level as Dion in my book!
@@marianneravina6795 Shut up idiot. You don't what your talking about
I like this version a little more than the Rob Roys; it's more up-tempo. An awesome arrangement.
In a different era, the Rob Roys was more R&B and the Belmonts with the Twist beat.
Belmonts were great even without Dion
1962......
Daddy Cool ❤️🎸💃
I like this slower version.
Love this song. When exactly was this released? Thanks
Dis shit 🔥
The best sound & version of this great song! The Rob Roys did it too, but this version is best!
I was friends with Carlos
Too bad the Belmonts couldn't make it after Dion left. Carlo was a truly great singer.
Is this 58'?
the belmounts high chart hit with out dion #18 of5/22/61 the bellmounts carlo and freddie canyon all told rack up 9 chart singles with out dion and on 10/27 /62 the belmounts only chart album 127# on billboards album charts the carnivall of hits album gave them 10 chart records with out dion
Who are The Belmounts?
@@jonnychingas5757 oh shut up you know what he meant
Another great group was the Chantones who backed up Jack Scott (Scafone). Too bad Non-Anglos had to change names to hide ethnicity, I like their birth names better.
Jack Scott was white...
Much better than the Rob Roys! The Belmonts took it from very good to Great!
Not the Rob Roys
I lived that crazy life honey with the Mafia and black leather coats you think your cool I don't think so say that to my Sicialian friends
