She didn't try at all. A dozen people were assigned to help her learn protocol and how to present herself as a royal. They all said she was uncooperative and unwilling to learn. She couldn't believe she couldn't be number one and she wasn't nice. She bullied staff. She was there for the game, money, clothes and jewellery and thought she could skip to the front of the succession line. Her ex-husband Trevor said she'd had a hysterectomy at age 28 so what about those two children? More deception. When she couldn't have everything on her terms, grab more money and jewels, couldn't seduce William, she schemed to use her royal status to go home and take Hollywood by storm. That part failed miserably because Hollywood knows a no talent, lying parvenu when they see one. She did manage to get H to exit with her. That was the plan from the beginning. She could have put all of that on film in less than an hour.
Why would the royal family allow a wedding that they would then destroy? Easier to block it in the first place.

I went to England especially London various times during my lifetime and never once encountered prejudice from anyone. But I encounter it almost daily in California. The British people are in no way racists, in my experience.

The Earl leaned heavily on Diana as can be seen in the video evidence, but she would never have considered that her father would not walk her down that aisle. It was a matter of family pride. Everyone in attendance understood Earl Spencer's limitations and Diana was not embarrassed by it at all. She seemed happy that her father was able to perform this duty, which must have meant so much to him.
Meghan didn't want her father to accompany her down the aisle not because he was sick, but because he wasn't chic enough.
