  • Another project completed :-) This antenna was first made for contacting the "international space station" (ISS) using my Wouxun HT.While making it I added a center mount to use on a PVC sectional mast for Horizontal- SSB on SOTA activations.
Its a very light antenna and as always with moxon's shows a very good F/B..

The moxon antenna build is quite useful, especially for the VHF/UHF bands. I like the way you set yours up. Now the light bulb is shining over head and I'll have to make one for myself... doggone it!

Moxon work very well like your design

The brass on copper eliminates galvanic reaction between metals.

    Great job

Pity you didn't show an SWR sweep, and also on air test - listening to a signal, and then changing polarity and swinging side to side to show the size of the lobe and null (F/B ratio)

Hi John. I did that on a 20m moxon on this channel. Take a look

Great vid, how did you connect up the driven element? I'm after a neat way of doing it...cheers, Keith GW4OKT

Sorry Keith. It's so long ago I can't remember. I don't have that antenna anymore but I probably tinned the coax tails and used a 5 amp chocolate block to connect the driven elements to it. The connection was internal so wouldn't needed to be watertight. 73

I'm using Al welding rod, 2.5mm. so will use Gorilla glue to set the driven element in, then cut the centre to enable me to fit the 15A connectors in. The glue doesn't provide a 100% fix to the PVC, I tried overnight, so will need to think of some other method maybe, but should be strong enough for initial testing. Cheers n thanks, Keith OKT.
