For me my pocket pick when l just wanna chill in ranked, is Thresh top with Static shiv, just keep dominating lane, and farm. Gather more money and souls. And hopefully, carry the late game with so many souls. And since your "Support" Champion, you can really easily just pull people under your turret, and still survive 2v1 fight under your turret just because of the tools that have been given to you.
It might not look dangerous at first, but after 10min of just forceful soul grinding and forcing almost every minion lane under turret because of Static Shiv and overall playing more aggressively and making their jungle have to gang me at some point of the game, gives my team huge lead elsewhere.
I still remember the first few seasons of league where double and triple dorans items on everyone was the norm.
Back then the norm was 4 GP/5 items so you can do river shen and never think about gold again. That was a good life man

@@jonaselbers8906 triple doran last patch was 210 health and 45 AP for 1200g, with the new setup you get 410 health, 225 mana and 33 AP for 1250g
it doesn't sound like a terrible deal, even without considering corrupting damage and the extra AP Dark Seal can give you

considering they changed snowballing i say they care a little but man do i miss the 4 dark seals on my singed when it had the +25% potion healing

To be fair they giga buffed all Doran items but the price remained unchanged. Being able to stack them would make them the most gold efficient early game build for a lot of champs.
If I see an ADC or Akali top I go Future Market and proxy the first two waves between 2nd and inhib tower. If you start with no items and get both waves you can go back and get a pickaxe, 90% of the time the enemy messes up their wave and you can catch one more wave, recall and TP back with a Tiamat before level 3. Early titanic rush from there.
Once you master your one champ that you love, you somehow discover unique play styles and pocket picks. And they usually work because of the champ understanding you gained from constantly playing them over and over.

I play pretty much exclusively sion mid and I would say before this patch I would have considered Radiant Virtue one of my pocket picks against certain roaming champions. Now that turret gold has been so severely nerfed (and thus roaming buffed) it might become one of my main mythics tbh. If teamfighting is a win condition then it's hard to go wrong with it. Unless the team already has so much healing that the enemy will buy antiheal, of course.

@@Tilterella Ah true, looking forward to that. Ambulance Sion will be no more, but I like that proper counter building will be more rewarding. I feel like that was more of an issue with Sion than a lot of other champs, seeing as you need sunfire first for the damage, and you can't build heartsteel any later than second really. With no mythics builds like bami>abyssal mask>sunfire into mages might be viable. Good change.

before the 2020 item system changes, i had the "bamboozle" sion, which only worked into tanks.
i was also taking comet, start longsword + refill pot, against e.g. a shen, cho mundo or maokai, anything that wants to have an armor or MR item early, like sunfire or abyssal mask in its 2019 version, were popular 1st items.
usually i would do that, to bait the opponent into buying some armor, for tabis or sunfire, but i would already be maxing W, or maybe put a 2nd point into Q before, but not more than that.
i tried to get a back after them buying armor, and return with lv 7/8/9, 4-5 points in W and the 1.5k gold item that built into liandrys, the haunting guise. this item gave u 35 AP and made anything deal more dmg, the longer u are in fight, up to 10% after 5 seconds.
this wasnt too committive and with the 200 health u could easily go sunfire and build titanic hydra with the longsword.
i often had tanks build some MR and be genuinely confused, while being poked out of lane and even tho i was building a 1.5k component, more often than not finishing my sunfire before them.
U were a bit weaker lategame, due to the missing grasp and the liandrys, but the lane went from both 0/0 every game to me having an edge every game in these matchups. and by taking gathering storm, conditioning and overgrowth, ur lategame was still decent.
I've fucked around with E start, lethal tempo sion into hard early game matchups, it's crazy what you can win now--expecially with exhaust, which is kindof slept on for sion cause the slow persists post mortem opening up more kills in passive
with rakan midi like to go nahor's into jak'sho if i'm against a relatively tanky team or nashor into lich bane into rabadon if against a squishier team
on rell top i like to stand on damage items components and finish items later based on the damage output of enemies
I used to run the "ripstart" build for Darius, 3 rejuvination beads. Ranged champs couldn't bully me out of lane ever with all the regen, but then the item rework happened and it dieded.
I always bought it on Darius and Garen. Now there is no reason to anymore.
Not a pocket pick for sion, but I used to pick illaoi supp against nautilus, bully him all game and leave him no opportunity to dive the carry. Was especially strong during kaisa/nautilus meta a lil while ago.

Against Akali you can go full tank. She will not be able to kill you even with riftmaker and demonic. And your sunfire will be more then enough.
Allows her to free farm and scale though
@@Tilterella Yep but you can just ignore your team and push. If Akali cant stop you, and support probably too then only 3 other champs can try.
@@delta4135 depends on team comp, if they have a mid laner who can take over the side lane you have lost. That’s why I use it when I must win the lane

Hey tilterella you can try dorans dark seal similar hp an ap(slightly less) and then get a ruby crystal which is a component of demonic embrace. It should be almost exactly the same please try it and tell me if it feels the same. As a singed player this is what i am currently doing

@@soulsemblance3163 yep :) but like all regen items it scaled/scales base values rather than numerical amounts so each d ring made less and less of an impact.
Dark seal does help with the flat mana though; equivalent to something like 4 mins of each doran ring so assuming you base every 5 mins or so its only slightly less effective.
This was what made nasus into teemo fun... Goodbye my infinity gauntlet.
For me its tank swain top, Conqueror, presense of mind is the most important rune and i recomend conqueror for main, rush rylais, then jak sho and after that you could build demonic embrace for high ap and good damage vs any champ, spirit visage vs ap or thornmail vs high healing or full ad comp.

Me personally when im fight8ng a darius i like to go wardens bamis frozen heart sunfire, the amount of armor you get from the build makes it so darius doesnt do damage and as long as you can survive until you get wardens and get your jungle to come top once or twice you usually win the lane and get to a point where darius does no dmg, i remember a game where i was 1/4 i bought frozen heart snd sunfire and i 1v2d the darius and graves that came top, its a really good build for me when they have alot of ad aswell, i also use this build vs riven, and irelia.

Its been awhile since i Sion'ed but i used to have a specific pocket pick against high mobility top laners and during then was when Lillia top was somewhat common, that being PTA Blade of the ruined King into Iceborne Gauntlet sion

i also stopped playing sion after heavey nerfs to tank items
@@mutatabib it worked pretty decently for then, the idea was to just perma proc slow after slow so you can stick to them and let PTA and blade of the ruined king do the work, but ita definitely a troll build
When I play sion adc I go duskblade axiom arc and then hullbreaker titanic and transition into a splitpusher for fun
If I play against Morde as Sion I always rush QSS. Sounds dumb, but his ult is the number one reason I die to him since I can't escape and it reduces my stats. Even if I survive the ult the enemy JG normally shows up for the gank. Early QSS just shuts down his kill pressure.

I really liked the laid back montage. I think maybe too much league content is artificially hyped up. Felt like a smooth gane off the winning early strategy

I personally never play Sion but my pocket pick is against Illaoi with ap thresh, the perms cc and high damage basically just negate her.
Atm just pick any champ that doesnt use the mana/resource bar.
Her e just doesn't work and rito hasn't fixed.
Not a sion pocket build but I play a decent amount of garen. Whenever trynd gets picked into me (a matchup I historically had trouble with) I go for a really specific build; still take phase rush however I take conditioning and demolish secondary then I grab a bamis (helps with early waveclear) steelcaps and then pick up a wardens mail before finishing sunfire cape. Trynd cannot win small trades with you. Ever. If he tries to long trade on you phase rush just gives you that gtfo button.
You just completely destroy him; he can't match wave control, he doesn't do enough damage you just shove waves and take demolish procs for easy plates.
After lane you can rush to get a randuins if they have a strong crit adc but its not too important if you played lane well and put trynd in the dirt.
From there you can build whatever depending on the rest of the map; sometimes I even just go back to standard and build stridebreaker plus pd or something like that.
Obviously your damage is less; mages are an issue because you heavily invest in armour. But the pros of getting an easy win in lane hugely beat out the cons.
Eventually trynd will do damage to you; but trynd will always have to pop r if he all ins you; sunfire just too OP for that not to be the case. If you just hang on to your r and you save q for his slow you can kite him out in his ult and still get pretty easy kills even in mid and late game.
You also just become a huge nuisance in team fights; its super hard for a team to peel off a garen with a bunch of tenacity and randuins aoe slow that tanks a billion damage. If you get chunked you can also just hang back for 10 secs and get a bunch of hp back.
I'am an udyr otp and against master yi / true damage I always build full ap with double mask, tanks are literally useless against true damage so why not just do the most amount of damage possible and then die? Always works, even in masters
I'd go phantom dancer and bork after sunfire titanic and heartsteel against Darius and Aatrox, at least I can fight them late game instead of just being a blob of hp
i am playing in silver but still i usually counter darius by rushing tabbies into wardensmail into sunfire, you can just statcheck him once you have all three (if you didnt die before) which is quite funny
back in season 7 when every toplane tank build tripple dorans and just wavecleared 24/7

i never understood why those aps that tell you match up counters are so popular, like dont you just know whether you are positive or negative going into the match up if you just look at it? then i remmembered i am a looser who has been playing this game since second half of its first year and so i know a little bit more then your average lol player...

I feel like this build is kinda troll though, sure you might win lane into akali but since Sion is a Scaling champ it feels weird to put yourself behind by building AP.
It's like they only want you to play a champion one way and not the other. What ever happened to creativity being rewarded?

@@Tilterella I've played this game for years, maybe not seriously but I've been there for many a change. Every time we find something fun to do, they just answer with a nerf or change something completely. Then a lot of problematic items, like the mythics you mentioned, have been left for ages.
I mean look how many times they've changed something like duskblade. It's a little ridiculous.

These 3rd party addons are cringe lol, taking skill out of the game. Similar to deck trackers in hearthstone. I understand the info is there in the game already but thats the point.
People who are able to manage their back timings cause they can do basic math, press tab to see items and levels of their enemies etc should be rewarded for their effort.
