Australia doesn't have a tip culture, although some places leave a jar on the counter for tips if you want to leave some, and they won't reject a tip if you want to leave one. The food is very expensive so I guess it makes up for the tip, there are also other charges sometimes, like for weekend, public holiday or dinner time, so it's even more expensive to eat out. There is a minimum wage to be paid by employers that is larger than other countries, although in restaurants and coffee shops employed staff do not earn a lot as far as I know.

I'm from the UK, and in many jobs, the number of people who apply is in the hundreds. Where I worked, 186 people applied for one job, which means it's hard to get an interview, and when narrowed down, you must have an appointment, and with so many applicants, it's almost impossible to get the job.

Interesting video, CZcams recommended this, nice to learn about working culture in Japan, pity you don't have anyone with experience in england, its slightly different than those other countries.

Yah, you really have to be more proactive when looking for work in the West. The good thing is there is a labor shortage
in Canada and America so its easy to find jobs now. If you have a lot of skills. Emi worked at Tim Horton's! Famous coffee!

It's interesting that you had to hand in CV in person. I guess that may be because it is a customer service job. When I apply for a job, I just send it via email. Many years ago (1992), I went to Japan on Working Holiday Visa. I searched for a job in The Japan Times, which has a classified section on a Sunday advertising things for sale and jobs etc. I got a job fixing translations into English for Fujitsu (via another company). I got the job because I had an Engineering background. It was quite fun, but they were really strict. I worked for 1.5 years, and was only late once, because if you are late, you get less pay. Anyway, the pay was quite good, so I didn't worry about the strictness.

I had experience working in Russia and the UK (currently living and working here in UK as a chef/front of the house at a small takeaway place and teaching English online). Job application processes are generally similar - you meet the manager, hand over your CV (resume) and maybe have a bit of a talk with the said manager. Then after the meeting if you get the job they will call you. As for the customer services, you get both the good and problematic ones in both places even though the cultures are extremely different.

It's a quite interesting topic and hearing from three Japanese women's perspective.
How you guys feel working abroad. I have never done that myself, but I did get an offer to work at IBM (Callcenter) in Ireland back in my youth.
Sadly I had to turn it down because I have just graduated school so there was no money available for moving.

going in person with resume in hand to the place you are interviewing at is weird? (These are not huge corporate jobs) . How is it done in Japan? Which would help the video too if you explained how/why it's different from Japan.

I’m curious about family structure, marriage, and who takes the role of caring for an elderly relative. Also, how do you view genealogy?
    家族構成、結婚、年老いた親族の介護を誰が担うかについて興味があります。 また、系図をどのように見ていますか?
