I'm always trying to learn about the tractor and trying to stay safe. Great information. Though the roll over demo said it all. Thank you.

My High School classmate Delmas Sassman, was killed when his tractor rolled over on him and he had been farming a long time. He might have lived had he been wearing a seat belt and had ROFS installed. Once when my Grandfather was towing an old fashioned mower with the seat for the operator to raise and lower the mower blade arm on it I was riding on that seat and he did something that caused the tractor to lurch forward I was launched out of the seat to the ground behind the mower. I was not hurt, but what if it had thrown me forward and to the right where the mower arm was deployed. Needless to say it was not my time yet, but I never rode that seat again! Thinking that you can jump off out of the way does not take into account the speed at which these accidents happen. If it doesn't look smart don't do it! If you can't tell don't operate the equipment!

The lap belt is what keeps you in place in a rollover. Most people think it is the shoulder harness. In fact if the upper anchor points of the shoulder harness are mounted to low, you will break your back due to compression fracture.

My mother's brother was killed when a tractor flipped over while he was driving down the road back in the 60's. He was 12 years old at the time. Should have never been driving a tractor at that age.

I saw when a guy half fell out the open window of a Kenworth Hi-Ab truck as it tipped onto its drivers side, he wasn’t wearing the seatbelt. His head was down towards the bottom of the door and from his knees to his feet were sticking up past the top of the cab and he was pressed into thick, soft moss. We had no way to get the truck off him and he slowly died from suffocation as his friend standing there completely lost his mind screaming. Ask me if I wear my seatbelt 100% of the time after experiencing that.

It’s not a roll over. Just a a fall over. I live in the mountains of WV. Last 6 years had two fall overs. And one rollover. Rollover pined me under roll bar. Was released from hospital a day and a half later😊.

May be the best thing about a cab. You don't have a choice but to sit there, and keeps your hands in.

Yeah, now try and get everyone to put their ROPS up and wear a belt. I rarely see anyone do both. I wear the belt and keep my ROPS up. I value my life.

How does it look when you have a long hill to roll down verses a flat field (I.e., on a mountain)? The demo is good for a ‘tip over’ but I’m interested in how it works when you roll 3-4 or more times.

Set the wheels out to the farthest setting if you dont have duals, I turned the inner wheels around on my 4x4 TN65, it feels so much more stable now on inclines but you still gotta use your head and not do things like what they demonstrated in this video, tractors dont have front springs or rear suspension to articulate.

Long time ago in the Navy I took OSHA training for driving the forklifts. Though, I was young and hated watching it. I remember what I was taught. They said to try and hug the steering wheel as tight as you can.
So, that’s my take on it. Makes sense. If you think different please share.
