Ginny's Minis! Mini Di's! Mini Ginnys! GINNIATURES, if you will!! Get yours here: only-games.co/collections/ginny-di
You had my like just from posting. You have my admiration for the groan-worthy wordsmithing that is ginniatures.
awesome job and I'm glad you had fun! For those of us with 3d printers will these also be up on MyMiniFactory?
I can't choose which name I love more 😥
These look good, and are excellent for tabletop play. And the most important part is that you had fun painting them. I'm really happy to see this video, because most people are not going to be painting master level competition minis like Sam Lenz or Trovarion or mini witch, Lyla Mev--especially straight out of the gate. Thanks much for this one. Holiday best and cheers!
As someone who struggles with mini painting, it's really nice to know that other people also just mess up and then repaint over and over and over and over..... they look amazing!
i used to be sorta ok at it years ago, but 20+ years of turning wrenches, chemicals, and broken parts, my hands arent stable enough anymore. i used to draw a LOT, cant anymore.
Try the ‘slapchop’ method of minipainting. Several of the CZcams mini painters have released tutorials on this recently.
As someone who has won awards for painting miniatures, that process never stops dude
Those characters, all somehow thrown together into the same adventuring party, that'd be an amazing thing!
Oh my gosh, it would be DELIGHTFUL chaos. Elliwyn desperately trying to keep everyone alive. Augury being the only person Nymwen even mildly respects. Na'Krasha hitting on Elliwyn relentlessly. Nymwen ready to wring Wisteria's neck. It's like a sitcom 😂
@@GinnyDi "'This Odd Party', Spring of 2023, only on Crave!" 😄
I may include them as a party of NPCs, like rival adventurers, in the future! My players are wise to this channel (as they should be) so it will be a cool extra thing for them.
id have to agree. would elliwyn accept na'krasha's advances? those two are such an interesting ship.
@@Atma_Weapon Probably not, sadly. She said in her matchmaker response videos that soldiers are a non-starter for her.
3:00 I took a hair (literally one hair off my head) and I use that for painting really tiny details such as Nakrasha's scar. If you use a stiff hairbrush bristle, that can do the same thing. Another option I've used is the very tip of a needle.
A SINGLE HAIR....... that's actually genius.
Sadly my hair is very thin to try this
I typically will use a toothpick shaved down to a point.
Cheap, easy to re-sharpen (a couple of times) and very easy to replace.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to use my own hair as part of my process. I've been given some funny looks for some of my more creative solutions to crafting problems. Lol!
I know someone who saves her cat's shed whiskers (when she finds them) to use for the super super fine detail painting. They're the perfect combination of durability and stiffness while still being a very very fine tip. They're even free (if you already have the cat), you just have to find the whiskers like some sort of rare loot drop
I love the logic of using makeup techniques to think about the shading on the face. So cool!
I loved Miniacs "Magical Face Painting Tips?" video on this topic. He basically looked at makeup tutorials to improve his techniques on miniature faces
Ginny's Mini's! Brilliant!!! 😂 They look fantastic, it must be such a thrill to have miniaturised versions of your characters/cosplays!
The minis look amazing. Love all the details and to my untrained eye you did great on the paint job
Ginny's Minis!!! The excitement was definitely worth it!!
That's an awesome paint job. I especially like that you mentioned using some of your make-up skills for determining highlight colors. People in the mini-painting community have been discussing that recently. For basing, you have sand and dirt and rocks right outside your door! Hobby tip though, bake them in an oven for a while to kill all the bacteria and make it safe for use!
Welcome to miniature painting! I started a year and a half ago and love it! It's so therapeutic to just put on some music and focus on your painting, forgetting about everything else that's going in your life/in the world.
Looks great! * turns head towards a bunch of unpainted framework and pre-set nolzur minis waiting to get painted * Thanks Ginny, you game me an inspirational kick to get some actual fun work done! Orange, Purple and Yellow dragonborns of Sorcerer, Ranger and Fighter classes 😁
Just an amazing job painting Na'Krasha there. So good.
As someone that has been painting miniatures for about 30 years and has taught my friends and family how to paint, I gotta say that you're doing a great job! you've got the basics down pat and you understand layering concepts well. Just keep practicing and _enjoying_ the painting!
The one suggestion I would make for you would be to set up a miniature stand for the mini's while you're painting. I use some poster tac to secure the miniature to an old paint bottle so I dont have to touch the miniature while painting. It also makes it a LOT easier to rotate the mini and get into hard to reach spaces.
If you have videos of painting the other mini I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we'd love to see that!
Heck yeah, man! These are great! Sensibly dressed, fantasy women minis from a creator I already enjoy? Yes please! I know where some of my Christmas money is going already :)
I'm thankful for Ginny Di releasing videos. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.
You've finally hit the big time. You don't just have minis, you have minis based on you. Next up, action figures and play-sets, board games, card games, comics, novels. Maybe even 1M subs. Who knows where you'll be in a year? "Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there's footprints on the moon!"
Seriously, these are really cool. Good for you! ❤
Never added something to my cart so fast. I would love to see the paint process of the other models down the line. Helps me so much as a hobby painter seeing others who are rather new to the art share their experiences!
Great job on painting those! It's a really great feeling when you bring minis to life with paint, even more so if they are your custom characters!
The minis looks great! I'm so glad you're sharing these with us.
Your minis are so beautiful!!! Great painting, Ginny! I completely agree with the notion that it is all-too-easy to lose hours in hyper focus on this amazingly meditative task. I think everyone should get to experience that at least once in their lifetime. So happy you’re having fun!!! Please keep sharing!
I cannot wait to get the whole set and paint 'em up!
The minis look great, and you did a fantastic job painting and showcasing them! I especially liked the dice around each mini as you highlighted them.
Killer work Ginny! Love watching you try out (or more so show off) other hobbies that I also love doing.
I love her. Have her dice set and can't wait for the mini. Want to play her in our next campaign. You inspired my current character my tiefling barbarian
Great job! And YAY, they're finally in the store!
This is absolutely one of my favorite videos!!!!
Awesome!!! Congrats Ginny!
Oh wow!! You did such an incredible job Ginny! Cannot wait to add these lovely characters to my miniatures collection.
Amazing! I've been painting minis a decade and I'm still learning new techniques. You did amazing and it's cool to see your OC's as minis!
This is awesome! Love the commentary. Easily making me want to paint up my minis again!
as someone who is also an absolute beginner at mini painting, I am EXTREMELY impressed. mine have never looked that good
YAY Mini Painting! They look amazing, they look like they were a lot of fun to paint
They look so good!!
This video was brilliant. I enjoyed seeing your painting process. And I can't wait to add the whole set of your miniatures to my campaigns.
25+ years mini painter here :) You did a pretty outstanding job!! (you should see the chaotic glob I did on my first Space Marine xD)
You handled lights and details great. And special mention to the gradients in Wisteria's skirt, which are usually hardcore for an initiate. Very good!!
Your minis look really cool and I like the painting. I only started painting this year (as well as actually playing D&D) and I too find it meditative.
As my life's been completely turned up side down in the last couple years (problems at work and lots of health issues for my partner), your humor has been a welcome light moment when I could find the time to watch your videos. But painting minis, that's really been helpful for me to discover this hobby and allow myself some time for it occasionally.
Thank you and keep being yourself
Love these figures and I adore those personalized dice sets for every character. Beauty is in the details.
As a miniatures painter, I do always like seeing others venturing into the hobby, very good job and glad you had fun with them too :D
Aww this was so cool to watch! I haven't painted minis in years but this brought me right back :') And you did great! Feel free to do chill painting videos any time you like, it's so relaxing to watch 😊
I just want to say that I've finally found a group and your tips help me be a better dm and make my players love dnd. Thank you Ginny
ive been waiting patiently since the live for this video to come out and omg it was so worth the wait!
Great work! We love how you are always willing to try something different and expand your artistic talents!
bloody awesome paint job ginny
Love the vid! I don't paint minis, but I love watching them get painted!
Awesome video as usual Ginny! The mini sculptors did an AMAZING job creating them and I love the way you painted them! So fun!!
Your skills with makeup (which are awesome by the way) are totally transferable to mini painting! Great work Ginny 😊
Literally painting minis as I watch this. Welcome to this corner of the hobby!
They look soooo good!! Awesome job!! 😊❤
Always happy to see new orc lady miniatures. Will be fun to see how that miniature response to ink-washes.
What a great paintjob on all the miniatures :D
Ah, such a wonderful job! I love how your minis turned out!
And the joke in the beginning... Chef's kess :D
These look awesome! Well done, both on the sculpts and the paint! I also struggle to paint faces, you did really well!
Thanks for the video! Great job on the new mini. Keep at it and I look forward to seeing how you paint the others. 😀
Awesome work on the painting! I’ve ordered my set of minis and can’t wait to get them and ideally paint them (the pile of shame grows ever larger).
Really cool work you! I can tell you're a creative because, even for someone uninitiated in mini painting, she turned out so well!
They're lovely! Way to go!
These are looking awesome
You did a good job Ginny! They look great.
Got into mini painting with a reaper start painting set. It's one of my favorite hobbies now, and the paint jobs on these minis look really good to me! Really recommend it to anyone, there's always room to learn but you'd be surprised how good you can get a mini to look with just a few basic techniques.
Love stuff like this!
Thank you for introducing me to this site! I appreciate it!
Wonderful video! I would love to see more miniature painting videos from you - something I see fairly commonly in the "mini painting" CZcams world is experienced miniature painters experimenting with tools and techniques from the makeup and cosplay world, and I think it would be absolutely grand to see what an expert in cosplay like yourself can bring to the creative table.
Your paint job looks so good!! Well done!
The struggle is real! These minis are really nice - keep up the painting, you only get better the more you do it. Great work and nice video too 😁
It's neat that your skills with makeup translate into miniature painting. I love how one form of art can influence another.
Ginny's Minis!! Woo hoo! I can hardly wait!!
They look terrific!
That‘s so epic! 😍🙌🏻
The greatest strength of mini painting imo is that it has a low floor and high ceiling. Extremely talented and experienced painter's make their minis into astounding works of art, but it's also fairly easy for a beginner to make something that looks pretty decent. It is essentially just a 3d coloring book.
It’s really cool to see that the minis turned out really nice without much in terms of materials. I’ve been hoping to get back into painting minis myself. I think when I first started I was too impatient and tense but maybe this summer I’ll buy some and give it another go 💚💙
Super cool, I've got a ton of minis hanging around, and am intimidated by painting them. It's so cool to see them turn out well, props.
They look amazing. Might add these to my game, my players all know your videos, so having them come up against this bunch would add an extra dimension to the game. Both the characters and players having heard of these adventurers would be a good twist!
This is amazing. Helloooooooo Christmas List!
Great minis and you did a lovely job painting them!
Oh boy! New minis!
*looks over at unfinished pile from splurge at local con in October*
*And the clockwork dragon for a contest*
*and the free monthly mini from GW*
Now, the battle between wanting these cool new things and knowing I'll get overwhelmed and not paint anything for ages if I have too much begins!
Also, your mini painting's great! Keep at it and you'll keep getting better.
Thank you for another great video!
How did I not see this video. So awesome!
looks great. keep at it!!!!
Good job. Nice sculpts.
Absolutely awesome work Ginni from a fellow DM and miniature painter, I combine both skillsets in my campaigns to create hugely evocative game sessions that my players have really enjoyed, and have left the table thinking wow!
You got this! 👍
gorgeous!! Our campaign is about to order our PC minis and print them so this is perfect timing!!
This is so cool and N'Krasha looks amazing!!!!! Im very meh at mini painting but I still love doing it!
Awesome work!
They look so good 😍
Those look fantastic especially for a beginner!
Those minis look awesome!!! I’d love to see more and I just might buy some
AAA I love her! Something that might help with the faces: watercolour pencils! I do doll repaints where those are commonly used, and I brought them into miniature painting. A super sharpened pencil point made doing tiny details SO much easier compared to even the tiniest brushes. (Another doll repainting hack: Mr. Super Clear UV is a great sealant and makes paints/pencils/pastels adhere WAY better to the mini!)
Yay!!!! So cute!!❤❤❤
Good job! Looks better than my first attempt. Tips from friends was what took my minis to the next level. Dry brushing is great for armor and weapons but hell on a brush. I used an 000 brush for face detail.
So, so lovely and cool
I recently got back into mini-painting (specifically Horus heresy) after a 15-ish year hiatus from the hobby (played warhammer40k before) and i find the painting much, MUCH more enjoyable than i did before.
There is a much wider range of types of (technical) paints available making it way more fun to add cool effects to your mini's
If you can, try out some contrast- and/or speedpaints, and use oil washes for easy shading (it is an easy and early step adding a lot of depth to your stuff)
As a last cool tip, for basing there are some really cool and interesting technical paints which 'crackle' in cool and random patterns that i would really recommend giving a go it's one of the things that gave me a good surprise and a lot of statisfaction when i got it under control. (i even used a ground texture effect on one of my mini's as a camo-effect on his cloak. lots of fun. :)
oh, and for metallics, try 'drybrushing' most metallic paints aren't really good for opacity and coverage, but with this technique gives you a great effect.
Just have fun, and the best thing i've learned painting recently, is that it's an additive process, you can keep coming back to it later and make things better :)
There's a lot of cool ideas to be learned about mini painting from the warhammer community. Things like washes aren't as common for DnD minis but add SO MUCH DEPTH to them if you can recreate the look.
These look great! And unlike a lot minis, they actually come across as distinct characters with personality!
I only recently got into D&D but have been painting mini's for 20 years. Very nice job on these mini's!! For basing you could just scoop up sand from your yard and sift it in the grade you want and then bake it to kill the microbes. For the skulls i saw shooting by i would recomend a sepia wash.
Also a wet-pallet makes a big diffrence!
Fabulous just fabulous
👍👍 just awesome, I love them 😃!
This is so cool, also I would love to see some more pov role plays with Elliwyn
u slayed as usual ofc
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
I've been painting minis for over 20 years now. Great job as a beginner Ginny. You're figure looks great! I'd suggest using some Citadel Technical paint as your base. Then you can use a wash to tone it down a bit, and a couple of drybrushed highlights. Then add some grass and flower tufts from Army Painter, GaelForce 9, or another basing materials company. Keep going and happy painting!
