- This demo explains how to use Script Lab, a Microsoft Garage project.
Get Script Lab at aka.ms/scriptlab
Script Lab is a tool for anyone who wants to learn about writing Office add-ins for Excel, Word, or PowerPoint. The focus is the Office JavaScript API, which is the technology you need for building Office Add-ins that run across platforms. Maybe you're an experienced Office developer and you want to quickly prototype a feature for your add-in. Or maybe you've never tried writing code for Office and you just want to play with a sample and tweak it to learn more. Either way, Script Lab is for you.

This is absolutely awesome, thanks! love that i can js in excel now.
I moved a few of my VBA macro to javascript using script lab. Me being completely new to Javascript, it took me some time to find the corresponding commands I wanted in Javascript. But then in a short span of time, I have three of my macros moved to javascript. What I love the most is the user experience that I get from the Html Run pane. Kudos for doing this!
P.S: By any chance, is it possible to provide shortcuts to access these addins from excel?
Is there anything in Script Lab, akin to a macro recorder in VBA?
I can nog find a sample to populate an excel spreadsheet with data that should be extracted from an (external) endpoint. Please add such a sample.
Do you need Script Lab installed in the Excel file for the code to work if the file is shared?
Hi, How can I import jscript libraries? Can it be done? - Thanks.
After 2 years, did you figure this out?
Yah - this is awesome. Michael - how to debug in script lab? This is so freaking cool... but if i could inspect objects at run time i could learn even faster ;)
so you can do this in VS IDE but i guess no way to do it direct from excel?

@@MrRes63661 If you can use Word Online or Excel Online, etc, I'd think you just use Google Chrome Dev Tools or [Your Choice Browser] equivalent.. (F12, CTRL-SHIFT-I)

This seems like change for the sake of change. VBA worked fine and was easy to use and understand. Once again, Microsoft has screwed up.
VBA only works in Windows, though.. so seems like a change in the right direction.
you stopped development of VBA, for this rubbish? You really have no idea who your customer is anymore Microsoft
