Hey! I've been getting a lot of questions about what supplies I used in the video, so make sure to check the description under "materials" for the list. If I missed anything, please let me know!
JelArts from where you've learned to draw?
JelArts I need some advice I'm in 8th grade and I love to draw. I doubt myself a lot and I think I'm not very good at drawing no matter what others say. I still think I'm bad. I haven't had a art class since 5th grade so this year we got a art teacher at my school. Anyway I was excited cause u was put into a class that is advanced and gets high school credits. But now I'm doubting my art teacher. She shames my cartoon-ish art style. Because it's "not realistic" should I start changing it or stay with the art style I like but also trying out realism. It's really hard when you get no motivation from your parents or art teacher. So what should I do? I really like my way of drawing and I'm improving on anatomy. But she wants it to change to realism completely. I know that I'm young but I think I know I shouldn't change everything for her. What do you think I should do?
JelArts 😍😍😍😍😍😍
JelArts 😍😍😍😍😍😍
I use my sketchbook for studies. I'm studying human anatomy and learning how to make different poses
I’m a perfectionist _and it haunts me_
Zntx
_Me too…_
Zntx haha same I cant do that for my life if I try I think * i need to fix that*
Same and it will neVER LEAVE ME ALONE
SnowySlayer don’t leave out the crippling anxiety :’)
Zntx yup yup i can relate lol
Um... Wut if ur weakness is like... everything...
Lol im usually too scared to start because of that I usually just play with flowers

"A sketchbook has no rules"- but my perfectionism does.
Hahahahaha
lol agreed
PERIOD she says that cos she’s messy but I like every page to be worth a nice picture 👏🏼
AGREED
I always keep my mind on that
I never filled an entire sketch book
**Draws on the first 10 pages**
*"I should buy a new sketch book"*
Nah. They are expensive
Same 👌
That’s so me
I keep on buying nice sketch books but there too pretty to fill and Its too much pressure so I just use normal papers 😔
I fill my sketchbooks (I don’t mean to brag)
Just draw until its full.
I see you everywhere in art youtubers commentsections

nice to see you
@@za9602 haha yes! good to see you. I'm so excited to work on a sketchbook. Wanna do some color.
How dare u still live
My sketchbook is also my notebook, my agenda, my secret dairy, my storybook
My sketchbook is just my life...
This is what I want my sketch book to be, just to be my secret place but I struggle to draw in it, I feel like I am a bad artist. How do you get over this? :( what sort of things do u draw in it everyday?
@@PringlesOriginal445 every artist is special in his own way, even though idk whats your style, i don't think that ur a bad artist
i feel like you're an amazing artist but if you don't try to appreciate your own art, nobody will
try to draw using a reference, an object or a person, etc
eheh keep with the good work, i believe in u. also, sorry for my english, its not my native language ♥
M J draw something, anything, a stick figure, intill your proud of SOMETHING, I was in that phase for a long while, but I’m not anymore.
And one day, your sketchbook runs out of pages.

is it just me or do other people deal with this? i think i only doodle on things im not supposed to doodle on like school work but i just cant doodle in my sketchbook
Star Chaser I have this problem too! I’ve started tearing out the pieces that have good doodles and taping them in my sketchbook on a blank page so that I have a starting point that I know I like for some doodles, or I’ll tape them over things I absolutely hate
s a m e
I'm kinda like that.
Omg yes I'll draw on my homework yet I won't draw in my many empty sketchbooks

1. Draw
2. Draw more
3. Draw even more
4. Draw so much
5. Draw and test
6. Draw and realize wow I got kinda good
7. Draw until you feel content
8. Draw and see how much you improved
9. Draw and see your sketchbook is almost done
10. Finish the sketchbook and see wow that’s pretty cool I improved
Then look through it until it all looks ugly
Hahaha😂😂
That's the firs thing I do lol

How I fill my notebook:
"I am going to buy a sketchbook so I could improve on my drawing"
'Three pages later'
"I AM GOING TO START A NEW MORE IMPROVED SKETCHBOOK"
People are like, " why are you so poor?!" And im like "ummm, well, i have a problem with buying sketchbooks"
Three pages? Damn, i don't get past 1 before i buy a new sketchbook lol!
BURGER Entertainment this is legit me 24 7
lmfao my parents hate me for it i dont even think ive ever finished a sketchbook before but im gonna try to finis this one *gives up*
me
One thing that helped me was having different sketchbooks for various purposes. A large multipurpose dry media sketchbook to use at home only. A small travel drawing sketchbook. A cartoon-only sketchbook. A watercolor sketchbook.
When you don’t have an art style-
that was me when I first began drawing ;w;
i *kinda* do
Draw from a refference and that'll help you see what your art style is
You don't have to have a style so don't worry you will discover it soon
As a somewhat pro artist, here's what I know :
Don't try to go out of your way to find your style, just DRAW
and hopefully you'll get there
How to fill your sketchbook:
Step 1: *Draw everyday when your not busy.*
Step 2: *Always have fun in colouring or shading.*
Step 3: *Have fun.*
Step 4: *Realize you don’t have paper to draw on.*
*Draw on skin with sharpies*
*Realize it looks good*
*Begs to go to store just for a journal*
*not allowed to go to store*
*Steal paper from someone*
You had me in the first half not gonna lie
@@ambie7437 draw on receipts afterwards.
Step 4 is always me
Step 5:Realize that the drawing of the eye is off

Well I'm..
RIGHT HANDED HAH!
Y E S
I'm left handed too
Can we agree that we have a sketchbook for "nice" art and a sketchbook for pure chaos?
Late response but nah i think thats kind of counterproductive, a sketchook is to document your progress. Unless you have multiple themed books then ig
She: *Mindlessly doodles*
Me: *sitting and staring at my sketchbook* - i can't😂😂
Same tho...I’ve tried I must focus completely and block out the world or I totally fail...there is no mindless doodling for mr
@@lexieequestrian4706 my doodles consist of random lines, shapes, and flowers, and they all look like TRASH, at least her doodles look good :/ i have to actually try for anything to look anywhere near good
@@naimalamar3301 same. But right now it’s even harder because I have an art block and I physically can not sketch, they all look horrible
Relatable af 😢✌🏼
Does anyone else give their sketches comments? Bc when I draw something that I hate I write out ew or something like that 😂
- DÊMØNÊTÎSÊD - when I draw something that’s looks like crap to me I just put a question mark next to it or I just put “ugh” or something like that even when I draw something nice I comment it so nah you’re not alone
JFlowers101 ! Lol yay
Yeah I do that too... 😭
I either put a ? if I'm not sure about something like color or a drawing and will say oops on places I messed up. And if it's a really bad drawing I put things like "dis looks like maniac running around in the streets" or "dis look bad" or "this proves how bad I can be at drawing" to try and get a laugh out of it.
Whenever I don't like my drawings, I write a line through it and write either "what is this?" "Ew no" or "wtf was I thinking" and try it again
How to fill a sketchbook?
*Sketch in it*
@Ein~draws haha
I know right? As easy as heck
Hello Blink im a Once i love BP too

Duh ding dong CH 🥁
Just a suggestion; if you want to try drawing realistically, go on a CZcams video pause it, and draw what you paused! It’s really fun for me and has helped with my ability of drawing faces/realistically.
I appreciate the effort in the scripting, planning and editing for this "educational" sketchbook tour. I've seen countless sketchbook tours as I do research for my own videos and this video has so much more effort put into it than 90% of all sketchbook tour videos out there
One thing that really helps me when I'm doodling, I shuffle a song playlist, and use a song lyric and draw it
EmilyArt Videos omg that's actually really cool I'm gonna try that
Probably how Araki makes Stands.
Bruh that's an epic idea
Isn’t there a certain thing that some artists have where they can see the music and draw it or whatever? I can’t remember what it’s called, but it’s really cool. If anyone has an explanation please comment on this to explain to me 😝👍 Thanks! 😀👋
@@heredity5213 When I first saw your comment, I legit thought you were just talking about just simply artistic expression, but then I literally looked up exactly what you said. Then I discovered this whole new thing that's incredibly interesting, but I'm not sure if it's a very good thing. But this artist is making something positive out of it, and that's a good thing. I think I found the article Where you discovered it (did u find it like this?) www.google.com/amp/s/broadly.vice.com/amp/en_us/article/gyxq73/melissa-mccracken-synesthesia-painter-interview
Then here's an article discussing what that thing is, www.mnn.com/health/fitness-well-being/stories/what-is-synesthesia-and-whats-it-like-to-have-it
Who can relate ripping pages out of sketchbooks just because u drew something wrong and it looks bad?
MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Next time you get a sketch book, if you feel tempted to ruin the page backseat you feel like it’s bad, take sticky notes or some kind of paper, and tape it over. Then just draw over it. I’d recommend drawing on the paper before taping it in cause you never know if your gonna like it. I use this all the time and I love it. Also, if you really don’t like a page, just tape that page to the next. That way people can’t see it.
I am it’s not so fun
Me
Yeah I used to do that, but it's dumb because you can reuse those pages or draw little doodles on it. If you make a lot of mistakes try drawing lighter so you can erase mistakes easily 😉.

This helps because everytime my little cousin scribbles in my sketch book when i fall asleep, i can turn it into somthing
I love the "messy" rough sketch aesthetic, but, as a perfectionist, I can't do it myself and it BOTHERS me.
My tips:
Search a random country generator and draw things associated with it
Draw things in one colour
Draw monsters
Practice anatomy
Ask someone for ideas
Draw outside for inspiration
And have fun :)
thank you
Underrated and more useful sort of comment
I’m a big fan of just drawing outside. It’s so peaceful and enjoyable during these times and in general ^-^
Akckaaq
how do you save comments-
It's kinda uncomfortable everytime i open my sketch book everyone in my classroom starts gathering around me and just watch me draw ._.
Kookie The Nochi same im my art class like 6 people would just watch. apparently I was "the best artist in there" I was just like.. no.
Kookie The Nochi OMG I CAN RELATE...helpful tips
Use summer to blow through you sketch book (I do this)
My school doesnt have recess anymore I'm going into 7th so if you still have recess....what I did when I had recess was I found I quiet place in the classroom or on the field to draw and no one gathered around me accept my friends who I didn't mind. I have no idea what I'm going to do next year 😓
Lord help me....
Audrey Lowrimore yeah in art class people would tell me how amazing I was (they always came over to watch over my shoulder and say,"Your such a great drawer!" And inside my head I would think,"IT'S ARTIST NOT DRAWER!!!" DRAWER IS A STORAGE PLACE FOR YOUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS!!!" But what I would say is,"thanks but ummm it's artist..." And they would never respond....) I HATED my art and I still do....sooooo....I had a good friend of mine in my art class who was an amazing artist...I would just shooo everyone over to her to watch her draw 😏 I'm such I great friend.....
Nutella Cat man I wish I had recess I'm in 10th now dont be rushed to grow up girl. I'm 16 I wish I was still 12 or 13 tbh. but yea when people say "drawer" it does get on my nerves because its artist but I just keep my thoughts in my head.
Nutella Cat aww thank you so much for this! :))))
"I`ve been going through an art block"
*no pun intended* 1:26
Her: talks about hands
Sketch book: haha sike *shows feet*
Do people actually need help on filling out their sketchbook. It’s super easy.
Step 1: Get a sketchbook
Step 2: Draw/Sketch in it for only 5 pages
Step 3: Relies that your previous sketches don’t look that good compared to your latest sketches
Step 4: Put your sketchbook in a cupboard
Step 5: Get another sketchbook
Step 6: Repeat until, you realize your way in debt because of how much money you wasted on sketchbooks
Step 7: Spend the rest of your life eating ice cream in the dark depressed and regretting everything you’ve done up to this point
It’s that simple people.
Same
That helped me so much. Thank you so much.
me!!!
So true!
I'm eating ice cream right now any other advices?
My weakness is drawing hands & boys 😂😂😂
Same xD
well hands I just draw gender-less people. *_*
I hate hands
the_one_and_only_ Megan SAME OVER HERE
Same lol
when I want inspo: Pinterest
But then I never draw anything cause I look at so much and it’s all I end up doing.
When you end up in that loop, make a board of the pins you would love to draw later and the next time just scroll through your own board and if you end up pinning too many and struggle to decide which one to choose for now, take some more time to star/favourite the pins that "call out" for you to draw and draw them first
Something I LOVE doing in my sketchbook is creating cover art! It’s the thing I do most often. What I’d do is I’ll think about my favorite show or book or movie at the moment and I’d go back and rewatch or reread the thing I want to create cover art of, and I’d really study the color schemes, style, characters themes etc. Then I’d come up with multiple ideas that I would quickly sketch. Then once I’ve found a good idea, or one that I like the most, I’d broaden out that sketch and really go into detail and flesh it out. Once I’m done with that I’d go on a new page and create the finished piece! It’s something i really enjoy doing and I hope this comment can help you guys too! I just got out of a huge case of art block by doing this and I’ve found my motivation again! I hope this helped! xx
don't you just hate it when people ask you to draw them or just stare at you while you draw?? i dunno maybe its just me.
Ginger Head I was drawing in class since it was raining and everyone was looking at me :( I felt so watched..
Ginger Head No ur NOT the only one
thats what gets me kinda ticked off the most tbh xD
I used to feel that way, then I just stop caring.
Ginger Head yeah I hate that too
That moment when you think "ok, I am finally going to make an organized sketchbook with no ugly doodles and half empty pages!"
*some pages later*
This is SO me. I just got a new sketchbook two weeks ago and I thought, "Okay! This is gonna be filled with beautiful art and Inktober stuff, and no ripped pages or scribbles that hardly look like art!" Pfft, now I want a new sketchbook...
Something that helps me is that whenever I want to get a new sketchbook, I go back and if I don’t like a sketch, I’ll erase it and start again or tape in a cover up until I’m satisfied.
HA H
hahah hah
Lol
Ruecat ok
I’m really “strict” with my sketchbooks, I realize now that every page doesn’t have to be perfect.... but it’s hard!😳
i honestly love this! tbh, having a messy sketchbook helps you build up your skills and just something you can mess up on because its for your happiness, right? its not like everyone will see it, its like an activity for your free time!:) and actually, your sketchbook can be anything, your agenda, your diary, your journal, honestly just anything!
I've always loved these one colored sqaure backgrounds, I don't really know why but I just always thought it looks really cool
+Coratison Me too! They're just really fun and aesthetically pleasing.
Coratison same
Coratison you do those background squares to let a sketch pop out so lets say youre brainstorming and you find one sketch particular good and you draw the square behind it so its the first that pops into your eyes
Coratison www
Coratison I want to do them so bad but it scares me that I'll use all of my ink lol
The main purpose of a sketchbook is to practice, not to be perfect. You’re not going to sell your sketchbook page by page.
i did i made 45 dollars sold each page for 1 dollar
I try to think like that but all my friends keep going through my sketch book and i start feeling insecure if i do a bad drawing or i don't feel like it's a good sketch....
if you dont practice perfect in your sketchbook then where? on a payd job? very idiotic if you think about it. in your free time you waste it with your comfort zone, and whenyou have to actually do somthing you stress out becouse you work well only in your comfort zone.
@@catalinafl9371 they don't have the talent that you have so they won't understand. I have been in this place too :^ so all you have to do is don't give your sketchbook to anybody
My art and math teachers always told me before quarantine to not erase the mistakes and embrace when something’s wrong bc later it shows how much you’ve grown so ya
Even watching this years from when it came out, I still love all of your tips and it still helps me with my art block to this day!
Some of my tips:
-If you don't like a picture you can get some nice origami paper (i have spirited away pieces) and just stick it on top.
-Do a bunch of patterns or mandalas.
-Do studies
-ask other people what you could draw
-practice composition
-do something silly or out of the ordinary (finger painting, dipping your foot in paint and walking on your sketchbook, purposely spilling something on it etc..)
-do a light watercolor wash over the top of a page to change the color slightly, then draw ontop of it
-design creatures
-get stickers
Just a few ideas ^-^
Jazzyhead123 ~ i literally can’t do ANY of those.
I nearly always purposefully drip tea round the sides of my mug and stick it on the paper. Leave it for a bit whilst doodling, then pick it up and I have a mug ring! Normally some patriotic Brit thing gets doodled in there, like the union jack or something :P
@@minyiecake why?
Theres always only 1 good picture in my sketchboocks
Flem li I tend to do lots of scribbly sketches and unfinished stuff, and I end up not liking most of the pages 😂
That's still one more than zero!
Flem you spell book wrong
stfu all of the pages are beautiful.
JelArts Same! 😂
Thanks for the tips! I think another useful tip is to think of your sketchbook as a diary and draw the things that happened that day, try and use colours to show the emotion you felt during that part of your day if you can too.
Time to save this video and watch it every day.
Also:
Draw in pen. It’ll feel like whatever you’re doing isn’t finalised and you’ll be tempted to experiment more with random things that you wouldn’t consider in a finalised piece. It also makes you think about every line you draw and if it improves it. It personally helped me draw cleaner second sketches.
Yellow Beret ~ but i can’t sketch in pen.
Illuminated Lamp A tip. Always sketch with a ballpoint pen, not an gel pen. Sketching with a ballpoint pen will be easier, because you can control the pressure of the ink instead of gel pens. Hope this helps
Lady Callow ~ idk types of pens. i only have 1 pen sooo
Illuminated Lamp Ballpoint pens are pretty cheap, and you can buy them typically in any stationary or book store, or they even have it in any pen sections. I got mine for a very cheap price.
Lady Callow ~ i am litterally 10 and am broke. 😂 also i hate drawing in pen so like what’s the point.
Honestly, I don't let anyone flip through my sketchbook. Not because I draw anything strange and questionable, or psychotic even, but because I'm very private about my art. A lot of things I draw usually represent a feeling I have and that moment, and I fear that others that live without anxiety will label me as a freak. I have a different style, experimenting with looks like Tim Burton and other famous artist that have a unique look. I think of it more as an outlook on the world, your style. Iv'e been thinking of having a sketchbook where I only show my better art rather than what I'm comfortable with. This way I will have something for my friends to flip through without seeing another side of me.
Certainly. Your art is a piece of your soul, and you don’t just walk around showing you biggest secrets, so why should you be expected to show your sketchbook?
Same(+_+)
I have a cousin(she's 12, I'm 14) who calls me a coward, just because I didn't show her my sketchbook....
You don't have to show them ur art but for me.. I draw lots of creepy things and i show them to ppl and they say that they love the way i draw even tho its weird...art is art no one have the right to judge u😁
Same! Same same same same same!!!!
"I don't like drawing on the first page, I think maybe I'll draw something on the first page later."
*I pretty much relate to that*

@@aaaaaaa-vm1oi that's also me 😂
I feel like everyone is going through an artblock all the time
Funny , I always see people complain of that, but never ever had felt anything remotely like that. There is so many things in the world to draw.. how can someone not find one to draw is beyond me.... Just keep doodling like mad until something makes you want to go further on that idea.
@@tiagodagostini that's not the only kind of art block. Another kind of art block is you want to draw but you just don't have the motivation to
@@snowberry_19 ah yes I got that art block and it’s still kinda there
i absolutely love videos like this. i come back to them every once in a while to just kinda refresh myself
Take your sketchbook with you. The library is a perfect place to draw.
"attack your weakness"
*HEY YOU! FEET AND ARMS CMON SQUARE UP!!!*
Drawing with a ballpoint pen is very helpful 😊 I tend to use it more than a pencil or a mechanical pencil because you can't really erase the lines, and it helps you build up your confidence when doing linework :D
Ej L that's actually what I did before using pencils, I just get frustrated using pencils, so I turn to my good ol' buddy: the pen
Nalyah Negron haha I get what you mean!😊
I agree, but I like some variations. I also prefer pencils when I sketch
I love using ballpoint pens so much
I'll try that.............
What I do alot is to put on music and draw what the music makes me think of. I also like to go back to old art and old sketchbooks and redraw something because I suprise myself with improvement and seeing that improvement is inspiring!
*How many people usually skip the first page of their notebook?*
I do
... you can skip the 1st page of the sketchbook?!
oh heck yes!!
I do it if strangers go in your scetchbook look at first page she a bad :(
i drew a “bad” drawing on my first ever true sketchbook
I didnt like it so i covered it up with construction paper and wrote “sketchbook #(number)”
it feels better now
I don't, but the 'Like' button was at 79, and my OCD be like: Press it. PRESS IT.
My problem is: I have several sketchbooks but... I draw like on everything i see and *not in* the books i have 😂
*Edit:* When i wrote this i thought i was the only one that does this but holy heck i couldn't imagine that so many people relate to my comment :'D
_Potato on drugs_ Oh haha! Well maybe you could stick all the drawings you have into your sketchbooks and collect them that way?
Nice idea but i already have like 200 to 300 pieces of different shapes and that because i like drawing smaller and often just use one little piece of a paper and never use it again ^^"
I tried so often to draw on the papers i already used but... Ehh i don't know! I hate this habit of mine 😂
you could try binding them into a book or collect them in a sketch-scrap-book
_Potato on drugs_ hahaha that is exactly what I do
_Potato on drugs_ Thats sad XD
"No one has to see your sketchbook"
*_me drawing at school_*

_im a weak person_
[ Tranquiled Sirens ] right! I’m always drawing in my little sketchbook but I’ve began stopping because everyone asks to see it and it gives me bad anxiety because I think they’re gonna judge me for my drawings.
easy, just put it in your bag and say "no"
Not Delusional i would like this comment BUT it’s at 69 likes and i cant ruin it 😭💀
@Averys Gacha :/ same ny sis does that
@Averys Gacha yes
The colour palette idea seems so cool gonna try it soon

I have seen uncountable number of sketchbook ideas, how to fill your sketchbook videos but your video really inspired me, all these sketchbook thoughts... thankyou so much!! Let's gets messy ✨🎨🌈
I always say to myself :"I bought this as an investment to improve my art, I should use it, not waste it."
It works every time and I think people should look at sketchbooks this way too :)
Thank you for the video Jel ♥
I thought that too, until a couple pages later
I love your work :)
Silver - Diamond your death grip on perfectionism is prevent your life. Fix this before you die without living.
I think that but then i thinl to myself "i shouldnt waste this on useless thing i need to make everything perfect" and then i end up on never drawing
Sweet Pigment ~ i start drawing and then throw my book.
Your sketchbook is already filled ( with paper )

I am the no skills, but idea type ;-;
Don Kapsalon yes, just scribble anything. You learn so much from your mistakes or inaccuracies. Then you know what to do next time. This is not instant gratification.
Agnanas02 so true
Lol I can’t draw that well but I have so many ideas

Very useful video! I liked the unusual colour schemes and weaknesses advice. Thanks!
Ok, I know this is an old video and you probably won’t see this but you are a huge inspiration to me, this is the first video I saw starting out doing art. You inspired me to keep going and honestly started my journey to being an artist. It’s been around three years and you have no idea how many times I’ve rewatched this video. So thankyou so much for being such a huge encouragement. Keep up the good content 💕❤️
I used to do a thing for a year called 'Monthly animal', (I was around 9-10) where I draw a new animal every month.
XxGaming CutiexX adorable
omg ive never been soo inspired in my life before this video. thank you soooooo much for this. i have solo much inspo now. keep these coming
The XL Mixed Media, 7x10, is the best sketchbook I've ever owned. I.adore.it. It really is perfect for any type of media. Markers and pens really don't leak through (bigger alcohol markers sometimes do). It holds watercolor super nicely without warping the paper a ton, and it also works super nicely for any kind of pencil or pastel drawing. I use it for all of my college design classes, and to take notes in other classes too. It's the perfect size - not too big, not too small - which for some reason just sparks my creativity! 10/10 recommend to anyone, even if it's just to take notes in during class or to use as a bullet journal/planner.
For the first page I usually do a Meet The Artist
Oh that's so cool!
JelArts thank you :))))
Amanda G me too xD
Amanda G Oh cool! I’ve got to try that!
@yes ikr you say stuff about the artist like name age blah blah blah
Another tip! If you get stuck because you feel discouraged, do an art trade or collab! For me it helps me a lot because I feel pretty obligated to make something nice because it’s for another person.
Same
irrelevant ~ i can’t do a collab or trade cause, i don’t know anyone. plus i can’t draw original stuff so there’s no point.
What’s an art trade?
@@stella7794 An art trade is when you exchange art of (usually) equal value.
My past experiences with collabs haunt me because anxiety keeps attacking making me nervous if I was disappointing the person I'm collaborating/trading with so... no for me.
I love your personality!! This video was so helpful
this has been such a help, i really appreciate all your encouraging words and all the time and effort you have put in to this video, thank you so much
My biggest struggle right now is not being as good as I know I could be. I kinda gave up drawing back in high school to focus on writing. On the upside, I've built up _that_ skill, but I have soooo far to go to catch up with my art.
I've filled up half a sketch book since the start of the month, though, woot! ^_^
+Maria Rae Wow that's a lot of progress, nice!
Practice drawing cubes and cylinders, in perspective. Don't draw the vanishing points; just eyeball it.
The purpose of the exercise is to improve your sense of representing concrete forms. Make the cubes look like they are cubes, not irregular boxes. Make the cylinders look round, so that they edges of the ellipses are neither pinched nor bloated.
That will make it easier to draw everything else.
thank you
this
I actually just went and bought a bunch of brush pens coz I love how much easier it looks to just add a little bit of colour to your sketches, hopefully they arrive soon 🤗
Me: *came here to figure out what to draw because I can't decide*
JelArts: *teaches me*
Me: Oh my God now I can't decide which one I'm gonna draw first
But your “doodling” and “making a mess” is my drawings on my best day.. 😂
headless chicken on the run
Omg same 😂
Just keep on guys! You'll get better
Mickey Rembiszewski
Hopefully one day :D
No 1. Don't buy expensive sketchbooks. You'll feel too intimidated to draw
ChocoLate Milk too late bought the biggest one I saw
True mate
ChocoLate Milk
exactly, I have that problem
ChocoLate Milk
That's why I practice techniques or doodle around on cheap printer paper and if I want to start a project, then I use the Sketch pad
Same here :(
WOW!! Your drawings are AMAZING!! I'm inspired by YOU!!
Excellent arts. Weakness for
many is to just get started. Your video is life changing. Your a great example to the world so thankyou
Even if I stuck random stuff in my sketchbook I’d throw it out, my problem is. I look at other people’s sketchbooks and feel shamed of my art so I just throw it out.
Same here!
It's really hard to overcome and I still haven't, but they key is to let your hand fly and *have fun*
Let your hand free, listen to some music and draw random, weird shapes and things.
Even a messy, stupid sketch is a style and it will improve!
You're not alone, never forget that.
Parrot Carrot ~ it’s not easy to fucking have fun.
@@minyiecake Not with that attitude!
Jeez, just try to slowly work your way to being more positive and you'll see what I mean.
If you don't know how to do that, I can lend a few tips.
I feel your pain
"Feet are my weak point"
*shows sketches of feet*
*sketches are perfect*
Me, crying: okay alright i guess
Thank you for uploading this video ! it really helped and i think your voice is really soothing
Here are some ideas on what to draw if you have art block right now. (So relatable-)
1. House. Make a haunted house, your dream house, a modern house, a old themed house, etc.
2. Drawing a person with only ONE color, but all shades. This is like the DrawingWiffWaffles trend, I like this a lot though.
3. Animal. Draw a new or a normal animal. Try to make lots and lots of details!
4. Pets. Do you have a pet? Draw them! If you don’t, think about what type of pet you would want and draw it.
5. Styles. Draw yourself in YOUR style FIRST. Then try youtuber’s styles or cartoons!
Hope this helps you!
I like to have a "calendar" on one of the pages where I just doodle or draw fun stuff that has happened that day and I'll have one page for a whole month. I've done it both with a square for each day and then also random spaces
wonderful idea!
Take an algebra class half way through the year and I’ve already gone through all of it
Matthew Harvey #relatable
well the thing is everything you draw looks like a perfect finished drawing!
Thank you so so much I was having a really hard time finding motivation to draw and you really helped I can't thank you enough
*Draws on the bus, and friend is sitting with me. I put my sketchbook aside to talk to someone else.*
*.... Friend scribbles a big hard line in a page.*
*Inhale.*
*Exhale.*
Nukoduke I have had that feeling before.. I was drawing in math and I turned to see they had marked all over my art
*they said, "you shouldn't be drawing in math class*
boi
There not a very good friend if Tharp do that since they know you worked hard.
i relats

I love my art so much, I would kill. *takes out a knife*
Just doodle eyes or write quotes. Mess with new art products or let yourself again like Jelarts said whatever your comfortable with. Just remember that art is all about fun.
+Maki K. That's a really great reminder. I should tell myself that more: art is supposed to be fun! I stress about it too much sometimes.
i loooved the tips, its super helpful and encouraging, but its so comforting and no pressure on us at the same time
This helped a lot on a bunch of different levels. I only recently came back to drawing, and it was intimidating, I was constantly worried that if I skipped a day I'd stop drawing again, but I also didn't know what to draw, I didn't have much experience with coming up with ideas, and executing them was twice as hard, and when I'd look for ideas from other artists I felt like a hack. I dont anymore, and am better at drawing from my imagination, but this helped a lot with what to draw during my art blocks. Thanks
