Because Poneke affiliates to Wellington NZ geographically, and because they were born in the Wellington region, it was only appropriate that their pe’e be exactly about that. Not all of them were born back in the Cook Islands. They went to the Maeva Nui representing all the Cook Islanders in the Wellington Region of NZ. Not their OWN island. So their tribute to Maui and the haka at the end is very fitting.
