DIY CAMP SINK - Foot Pump Operated Hand Washing Station

- This year (2020) has brought with it many new challenges and one of those has been excessive hand washing to keep everyone safe. We built this camp sink so everyone could wash up and keep clean. The sink consists of a foot pump and does not require electricity to operate. It's easy to setup and the whole thing packs back down inside the buckets.

Made one of these five years ago for my wife’s Girl Scout troops when they would go camping and it works great! It’s a good idea to spray the wood with some type of waterproofing because they will get wet. We would tie a bar of soap inside a nylon stocking on the side of it so the kids can wash their hands with soap.

This is how all the river rafting companies provide hand washing stations. With biodegradable soap, the grey water doesn’t pollute the rivers. I made one for my backyard so I can wash my hands outside and not track dirt into the house. The grey water goes onto plants that need watering.

A small drawstring mesh bag is great for a bar of soap. You can tie it up wherever

I love this! Can’t wait to get started! Does the black lid used as the draining bottom for the sink stay put? I can imagine it slips into the grey water bucket below with very little pressure. Any tips to avoid this?
