Abu Dawud was born in Sijistan (present day, it is known as Sistan and located in Iran) in 202 AH (817 or 818 CE) in the outset of the golden scientific century which witnessed the rise of Imams of Hadith, such Imam Bukhari, Imam Muslim, Yahya ibn Main, Ahmad bin Hanbal, At-Tirmidhi and many others. He grew up fond of knowledge, especially Hadith of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.), aided by his unique talent of memorization that helped him commit a great deal of Hadiths to memory. Thus, at a very early age, Abu Dawud collected lots of Hadiths in a short time. Just as all Hadith students, Abu Dawud toured the Islamic regions and cities pursuing Hadith wherever it was.

*Take care of your Hereafter and Allāh will take care of your life.*
Abu Nu’aim reported that Sufyan Ath-Thawri, may Allāh have mercy on him, said,
*“Behave well in your private life and Allāh will make your public life excellent. Take care of what is between you and Allāh, and he will take care of what is between you and the people. Work for your Hereafter and Allāh will suffice your affairs in this world. Sell your worldly life for your Hereafter and you will profit in them both together, and do not sell your Hereafter for your worldly life or you will lose them both together.”*

Whoever says SubhanAllah (Glory be to Allah)
one Hundred times, a thousand good deeds are recorded for him or a thousand bad deeds are wiped away. [Sahih Muslim; #4:2073.]
Whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi (Glory be to Allah and Praise Him) a hundred times during the day, his sins are wiped away, even if they are like the foam of the sea. [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:168, Sahih Muslim; #4:2071]
whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi, Subhan-Allahi 'l-`adheem (Glory be to Allah, and Praise, Glory be to Allah, the Supreme)
Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two words are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, they are loved by the Most Merciful One." [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:67, Sahih Muslim, #4:2071]
whoever says La Hawla wa la Quwatta illa Billah (There is no Might or Power except with Allah)
    [the above is] a treasure from the treasures of Paradise.[Sahih al-Bukhari; al-Fath al-Bari #11:213, Sahih Muslim #4:2076]
