What people don't realize about all of these street fighter "video game tracks" is that they were carefully crafted by some of the best music writers in Japan -- Many of whom were notationally educated at prestigious music schools.
I think it shows, actually, even if many people (that’s the musically uneducated majority) can’t quite put their finger on the reason why. Instinctively, however, they intuit what’s there that they can’t quite articulate.

The theme songs for Ryu, Ken, Guile, Balrog, and Vega were my favorite. So awesome, brings back memories. So many of the classic Japanese games had such beautifully composed soundtracks, always stellar basslines! Life Force, Contra, and all the Castlevanias (especially SOTN) come to mind also.
Vega was my favorite character to play. Back when i was 8 years old none of my friends could beat me. Not to mention he looks pretty badass with those claws.
I grew up with these songs. Had no idea how to do any special moves was a button masher....Still probaly is...But that didn't take away the fun I had, this was one of my first games ever.

depends on the version. this versiom is brilliant you hear the extra elements that are brilliant. in some other street fighter games they made hondas theme fall more flat and made other themes have the brilliant aspect. little things can sway the brilliance of a beat.

I thought the SF2 soundtrack was created by someone who bluffed their way into CAPCOM as a musician, and then proceeded to make godly music.
You could never quite hear Dhalsim's theme clearly due to a certain animal never shutting up.

At the beginning of each of these songs, I can’t help but hear the voice of “ROOOOUND ONE! FIGHT!!”. This was my childhood.

The SNES sound chip did a great job handling these tunes. The difference in sound between the SNES and MD versions is like night and day.
