Very good review. Good style&class. Exactly the texts needed. This should have many viewers. Its that good.
About the SP40. Of course I have a SP40 too. But, as you said, it does not give much light. 1200lm? Oh no. More like 900lm or so.
I use it only indoors because of that.

Thank you! Still good for many tasks. This is probably better than other headlamps exists. I will include this once I got new headlamps for review.

It's a nice light, and probably ok in use, but I think they missed it with its beam pattern. To me, a headlamp should be floody with wide, bright even spill. This one just doesn't do either well. Poor throw, which to me is unimportant in a light like this, but it doesn't impress me with its spill either. You are correct in saying this needs a TIR lens. I also think it needs more levels. 5-30-90-225-450-turbo. These would help both indoors and outside. Like you said, just use Anduril firmware. The brown and green colors are really beautiful though! We'll have to see what version 2 has to offer 😊👍

I could not agree more on this. That is the main reason why when I tried to use it as a walk light on that dark area, 90 lumens was not enough, when in fact on other flashlights especially the ta30 max 70 lumens is damn enough. One big reason behind this is the tint of sp40's beam. Logically speaking warmer tints give out less lumens than whiter tints.
The spill is quite good at close ranges. I have tried to like point it while using the headband on stuff like 0.5 to 2 meters away from me and its alright. The reason is i am imagining this as a great tool for technicians that needs a hands free lighting.
TIR lens and an anduril UI is really a must on the version two. The SP40 was released quite a long time ago compare to other headlamps. We may have a different comment if i were to review this like 8 months earlier, the good thing here is that we were able to compare the sp40 with the recent releases P80, and C3 and the old but still good sp32a v2. Also this means that we can suggest them to use the most efficient new stuff all other brands use on their recent releases, specifically the TIR lens.
It is just a matter of time before we see a new sp40 version from sofirn. I feel it. 🙏

@@LumenVaultReviews The problem I see with many of the headlamps is they have a bright center hot spot, and it becomes a problem when using the light at close distances. I would just prefer an even illumination across the entire beam.
I too have an SP32 v2 and it works great, but it really sucks as a headlamp! lol

Hahaha. I dont have any other headlamp yet to compare to sp40. But i think my comparison subjects had a great purpose of higlighting what are the improvements this sp40 needs.

@@LumenVaultReviews I don't have any actual headlamp myself. I would just wear a cap and clip on my Lumintop Tool AA or AAA. That Lumintop Tool AA is bright with a 14500 cell!

@@craigs7181 true! Haha and if only the sofirn sp10s has a two way clip thst would be an awesome alternative too. For a high CRI illumination.

Music is so sad. I'm too depressed to buy a flashlight now. I need to buy tissue paper instead to wipe away tears from the pain of the past.
