    I have the 27 gallon 200psi unit. I'm pleased with it. Runs my 1/2in snap-on impacts at full power no problem. Runs my air hammer and ratchets also. I keep the regulator set to 120 to 150.

      When I purchased this compressor it was the largest unit they had. I kid you not they came out with the larger unit about 4 weeks after I bought this one.

    I just bought the 27 gallon air compressor.. set it up and moment of truth spraying kitchen doors with husky air gun 🙏🏽. Big upgrade from 3 gallon porter-cable pancake air compressor … hopefully I’ve not overshot the mark! Great video .. I may make mine static also as soon as I’m more familiar with it.. I bought hose without reel but I can get reel and keep the other for extension.. if I paint the house 😂

    Very good, informative vid, thanks for posting it 👍🏽
    Unfortunately air compressors have gone up in price recently, like nearly everything else, about a 20% or so price increase would be my guess from a year or two ago. I hope the unit is serving you well.

      @steelforestweldingandforge  Před 2 lety +1

      So far so good. It works well for my plasma cutter. But for air tool usage it only works well intermittently. I wish I would have gone up one more size.

    Nice video and nice setup! I just brought one of these home from Harbor Freight yesterday and I'm about to "break it in" for 30 minutes. I've never had an air compressor before and I really like your setup. I don't really know how to use it, so any tips you have are very much welcomed. The reason I got it was to be able to ensure my tractor tires are at the right pressure because I had a problem recently resulting from low pressure. I ended up twisting my tire off the bead and had to take it off and into a tire shop. I had been considering one to blow out the crap on the grill after a day in the field anyway and the recent incident sealed the deal for me. While there, I also picked up an Earthquake XT impact wrench from Harbor Freight so I don't have to borrow my friend's Snap On one. I'm a n00b and barely starting out and buying Harbor Freight stuff is a great way to fill my tool collection. I hope it all turns out to be quality stuff. I also just ordered the 44 inch rolling US General tool chest. Anyway, I know this video was about the air compressor so thanks for letting me ramble here. Good job!

      Glad I could help you out! That's what this channel is all about. There is one additional piece of advice I would offer. When you're draining your tank after using it, tilt it forward towards the drain valve. The drain valve doesn't sit on the very bottom of the tank and water can get trapped in the tank if you don't tilt the unit forward.

    • @reedness
      @reedness Před 2 lety

      @@steelforestweldingandforge Sounds good, I'll do that. Thanks for the pro tip! Also, I haven't actually used it other than the initial 30 minute run, but I decided to drain the valve anyway and there was a tiny bit of air in there. Do I only need to drain it on days that I actually use it? I would imagine so. The air that was in there was dry. I'm now figuring out how to best make use of my starter kit with the couplers and quick connects. I think I figured that part out.

    Really liked the review. I'm about to purchase a new one since the old one is about 11 years old and it was just a 6 gallon tank. Has your opinion changed any since you initially posted this review? According to the video info, you posted about 5 months ago.

    • @steelforestweldingandforge
      @steelforestweldingandforge  Před rokem

      In all honesty not really. It is still working great and MOSTLY fulfills my needs. My only regret is that I would have gone bigger. I never have issues with my plasma cutter, but some of my aire tools quickly run out of power after medium use. A larger air supply would easily remedy it. But then again, I have limited shop space. So overall I'm still very happy.

    Thanks for the simple vid. I bought this a couple months ago to use for painting the base as part of my table saw restoration. In prepping the base, I basically hit a wall in rust removal by hand sanding and rotary tools, so I picked up a HF portable blaster. One thing I'm confused about is hooking up the HP air filter w/regulator to keep the air hose free or water, which I tried to hook up today, but I realized all my connections are 1/4, although the filter/regulator has 3/8 inlet/outlets. Since the time you posted this video, have you added an air filter/regulator combo to this compressor?
    Or anybody else who happens to read this?
    Thanks to anyone! 😇

    Hello. I got a question about the 26 gln fortess compressor. I have one and it was running very good. But after 2 months it started to shut off. I do let all the air out. It is in a well ventilated area. Does mot use oil. But i do have to turn the swith off or disconnect for 5 min. Then turn on and it will work for about less than a min. And shuts off again. Any ideas?

    • @steelforestweldingandforge
      @steelforestweldingandforge  Před 11 měsíci +1

      The most common cause for an air compressors shutting off before they are full is overheating. Are the temperatures very high where you live? If it's not the ambient temperature, the filters for your air intake may be dirty and the machine is struggling to pull in air. I am by no means an expert on air compressors. But this is what I have seen in the past. Hope this helps.

    Are you sure that's going to be enough to power your air tools? I have a 26g kobalt 1.5hp and it's not enough to run an air impact to loosen lugs, can barely run a 2in sander dor scuffing, I can paint cabinets (lacquer) at a slow rate. Let me know how it works out I'm trying to switch to a more quiet compressor and use my current one as a backup

    • @steelforestweldingandforge
      @steelforestweldingandforge  Před 2 lety

      I probably won't be using tools like that. The largest tools I will probably be using will be die grinders and maybe small sanders. But if I find it lacks performing power I'll definitely make an update.

    I just bought one. I am a newbie on a compressor. I am following this video. My only question is, when tank is full, as seen in the video. You turn it off and used it till its empty and restart. Or can you just turn in ON position till automatic will restart when its empty. What's your input on this?

    • @steelforestweldingandforge
      @steelforestweldingandforge  Před rokem

      When I'm using my compressor I typically leave it on the on position. When the tank pressure goes below a certain threshold, it will automatically start and begin to fill the tank again even while you're using it.

    I have the Fortress 27 gallon 200psi model and I cannot say that I am fond of it. I will not reach the 200 psi needed to shut off, I replaced the pressure switches inside and I goess it has defective reeds in the compressor.

      The PSI rating just means the tank is rated for 200 PSI. The pump and regulator will never allow it to get close to that.

      I've never owned a husky air compressor or any husky power tools. So I can't give an honest opinion. All I can say is so far this compressor has met my needs for plasma cutting and light air tool use. To date, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

  • @lionlocks5910
    @lionlocks5910 Před rokem +1

    This compressor sucks. The reason we buy bigger compressors is we figure it will do the job. Especially when it's dressed up with words like 150 percent more efficiency. It takes way too long to fill and you get hardly any run time before the motor kicks back on. It wouldn't be so bad if it were to fill up faster. Don't buy it folks. It's a rip off
