  • Two things I forgot:
    1. I also run the stick on coils from Paul Messenger
    2. To fit T509 and T709 exhaust headers, one pipe needs a dent to clear the sump.
    Matris fork kit
    Hagon rear shock
    3-pot front brake
    FCR39 flatslide carbs
    High compression pistons
    Hotter cams
    3-into-1 exhaust
    97hp on the wheel
    etc.
    etc.
    etc.

    Very, very nice bike. The cosmetical mods you have done are very tasteful. And the performance mods are off the hook! Congratulations to your one off Thunderbird!
    Best regards from a Speed Triple T301 pilot 🫡

      Thanks! Any videos of your bike? I just swapped rear wheel for a 17" and scrubbed in new tires. Tomorrow I will go to the track, look out for a video from that in the next days.

    Very impressive bike Fredrik. Nice. I haven't done any engine performance mods on mine but have upgraded brakes and suspension. One extra thing you might consider is to re lace your rear hub from 16" to a wider and larger 17" rim which gives a better selection of tyres to choose from.

      Thanks! I agree about the 17" rear wheel I was actually thinking about that the other day and also your previous comment about it. Problem is to find one... From what bike did you fit yours?

      @@fredriksalmen5159 Ahh, well, I can't actually say as I had my mechanic access it for me so it may or may not have been from another specific bike. Part of his business was building/rebuilding wheels but it looked new and I accepted it as such. Sorry I can't be more helpful. I can say he matched it perfectly with the front wheel though.

      @@chrisheggie952 Bought a 17x4.25 rim from a Tiger 955i, uses same hub as all Thunderbirds and same spokes as Legend/Thunderbird Sport. I will use my own hub and get some spokes before next tire change 💪

    I wonder of rhe power of your bike, Really 100HP? My TBS has 77 HP. It's the original version in yellow ttwo pipes in every side from year 2000. It is running great.

      Well, 96.6 to be exact ;) But, it's not exactly near stock anymore as pistons, cams, intake, carbs, exhaust system and igniter are swapped out 😎

      Thanks! Just put something under the sidestand to make the bike stand up more. Then use a universal paddock stand and lift on the swingarm.

    Interesting with the cross-over exhaust! Where did you get it from? I have hotter cams on a Tbird S, but I cant escape the torque-dips..

    • @fredriksalmen5159
      @fredriksalmen5159  Před rokem

      It's from a Tiger 885i, so first fuel injected Tiger. However, you will need to make "mid pip" as it's quite short. Also needs slight dent on one pipe to clear the sump. I found on ebay jn Germany.

    Im picking up my new (to me) 900 on Saturday - What mod do you think had the most positive effect on HP? and if you could pick only 1 mod what would it be?

    • @fredriksalmen5159
      @fredriksalmen5159  Před 10 měsíci

      Nice! Well you have to do both intake and exhaust to get power, I'd say get some free flowing mufflers cheap. Open the airbox and re-jet the carbs.

    Would there be any difference installing trophy cams in a thunderbird sport?

    • @fredriksalmen5159
      @fredriksalmen5159  Před 6 měsíci

      How do you mean? Like difference from stock? Yes, for sure you would get more power up top but to the expense of low and mid. Remember, TBS, Thunderbird, Legend and Adventurer all have the same cams, head and pistons, only exhaust is different. I wouldn't do that unless you also increase the compression as those cams are made for higher compression. Exhaust system also becomes way more sensitive with more overlap in the cams as the Trophy ones have.

    • @fredriksalmen5159
      @fredriksalmen5159  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Best and easiest thing is to have some free flowing mufflers, open your airbox completely and re-jet to carbs, around 140 mains, 3-6mm shimmed needles and 40-42 pilot jets. That way you wil be at the 80hp+ at the wheel, probably a good 8-10hp ober stock.
