Mara Wilson could be a Disney Villain with that laugh.
Oh please, she has become untouchable since the Faceless Old Woman who Secretly Lives in Your Home.
She scares me with that laugh!
@@crypticmrchimes Nah I disagree with that lol tho though.
She already played a Disney villain and her name is Liv Amara
@@juju_426 I posted this comment 3 years ago! How was I supposed to know?! Lmao
Ya know what, NC's got some balls to show that stuff from his past like that.
They can't dig it up if you leak it yourself.
❤
Yeah, I respect that! Embrace what you were and no one will ever be able to use it against you!
OMG you reached out to Mara Wilson just to have her grill you with insult after insult and a buttload of embarrassing videos to boot. Dedication right there. *Stands and slow claps in awe*
Austin Baker Actually it was kind of mutual. Someone had sent her the review of Thomas the Tank Engine and all the stuff he said about her. She had a bad week apparently and let out a tirade against the critic..not realizing he was only a character. They wound up both contacting each other to explain and Doug asked if she would like to cameo. This led to her doing a couple of things wit Nostalgia Chick to since they apparently are far from each other in NYC.
LaughingOwlKiller I'm glad she was willing to work with him on this one, her cameo is great here!
LaughingOwlKiller this is actually beautiful.
I like to believe Doug is a pretty cool guy. All of his reasons why he doesn't like something is usually backed by something logical and non personal. I'm glad they were able to do something productive out of this slight misunderstanding.
wait for real?
Dang! I didn't know it was her til end credits. Well done buddy!
Mara Wilson got into acting because she wanted to. She got out of it because she wanted to. Now, she's a writer.
I would imagine writing is the dream role for most actors once they make it big and have enough money to retire and live happy.
Let's them take a step back, and if anyone else fucks up and the movie flops it's the actor/director/other writers/etc.'s faults, not to mention most people are just flat out sympathetic to the "translating one medium to the other always fails" thing.
@@mutt9779 That's what Gene Hackman did for a couple years after he retired. He did two solo-effort novels (he already co-wrote 3 with Daniel Lenihan in 1999, 2004, and 2008). A western called Payback at Morning Peak (which I own) in 2011 and a cop thriller called Pursuit in 2013. Hope he decides to do another book. He's a good writer...
I mean she kind of still acts. Remember Helluva Boss? She voices the teacher from episode one.
but... does she want to?
I love that 🥹🤘🏼
Is nobody going to bring up the fact that, even though Anabel and Murray teleport back to Central Park, THE GIANT FRIGGIN' RABBI IS STILL ON THE LOOSE BACK IN NEBRASKA?!
Wouldn't he the spell wear off like the Dad?
Don’t worry just take him to a giant Synagog
I would love to see a Killer Tomatoes style movie called "Attack of The 50 Foot Rabbi"
Its Nebraska. Nobody cares
/r/NoContext
Before the Dante Basco cameo, this was the best celebrity cameo in the show.
JonathanToolonie I don't think I've had the honor to watch them yet, which NC episode are they in?^^
Foerster44v2 The 11 worst avatar episodes and the top 11 best avatar episodes.
JonathanToolonie
Thank you very much, now I know what I'm going to watch next :D
JonathanToolonie Dante Basco was more than a cameo. He was a full fledged guest star!
Scott Sandler I stand corrected. But he did have a cameo in the 11 worst avatar episodes.
Mara Wilson’s appearance in the end is the best part of the review
"Looking like Doctor Who if he graduated from Hogwarts." I can smell the fanfiction from here.
there are harry potter and doctor who crossover fanfics. most are bad... REALLY bad, but I do recall there being a decent one.
+329link I remember one that was actually really, really, really good. But, of course I never saved it and now it's drowned in bad writing, Mary Sues, and self inserts
Let's see... Doctor Who, Harry Poter... We are one Sherlock short of all the British fandoms.
The Doctor. simply The Doctor. Don't forget about supernatrual
He does exist actually, although he renamed himself Newt Schmander and got his chameleon circuit working in his tardis and turned it into a briefcase.
In Mara Wilson's defense, I still adore Matilda. Hell, my whole family loves Matilda. Looking back on it now, it's a bit cheesy, but it's a harmless movie and still has lots of charm in my book. That was Mara at her best, I think.
Mara Wilson as an adult has such an attractive voice.
Also those braces were worth it because Doug's teeth are beautiful now.
Not only an attractive voice but she grew up to be very fine looking lady imo.
I know she isn't acting anymore, but I'd love to hear her do voice work.
I met Mara Wilson at a comic convention in Edinburgh last year. That was a magical moment for me. She was also flattered when I told her how much I wanted to met her
Why hasn't Mara Wilson got more roles as an evil lady?
she stopped acting, became a screen writer
@@onenonlyprincess2 Check out the new Big Hero 6 cartoon. She guest stars in the show!
Because she is one irl.
She was a demon in Helluva Boss if that counts
Is it just me or do you respect Doug more for criticizing his own Movies just like he criticizes everyone else? I think its really great of him to do that :)
+ter0revil I hate everything about that part, but only because it reminds me of all the stupid awkward things I used to do as a little stupid shit a.k.a. "child" that I just wanna forget about.
+linguicaguy everyone has those embarrassing childhood memories. I still have nightmares...
It's the code of conduct for every great comedian. "If you can't make fun of yourself, you have no right to make fun of anyone else."
Thats awesome! she still has that mad expression look after all these years. She should definitely be in more reviews. And Critic, prompts for showing us your old work ;)
That’s one SSSSSSMOKIN’ profile picture
I LOVE IT!!!
she was good in Matilda
true
Doug has actually gone on record saying that he really dislikes Matilda, mentioning it in his "10 Movies I Hate but Everyone Else Loves" (he even spoke about it in his Shut Up and Talk interview with Mara Wilson). He planned to do a Nostalgia Critic review of it, and the fan backlash was so fierce that he actually cancelled it. It's the only NC review he has ever scheduled, announced and then backed down on.
NewhamMatt That, and War of the Worlds old .v.s. new.
I loved Matilda. I saw the movie a a year or two after reading the book, and though the book was my favorite I liked the movie too. It helped to see another little girl go through so much and find happiness. It was also cathartic to see her dispense some justice ...and who wasn't jealous by the end? I don't want to spoil it. Some good memories.
I find that hard to believe since he reviewed Jurassic Parl.
**reads description**
Uh... okay?
**gets to that "moment" at the end**
OH! OKAY!
>:)
That evil Mara Wilson bit was brilliant.
Awesome episode! I love the cameo by Mara Wilson!
MrBanankartong Mara's awesome, the sad thing in the scene where she had to talk about mommy being in heaven was hard on her since her mom was in heaven at the time. What an amazing woman
+Princess Strickland No she wasn't because heaven doesn't exist
#Imthatguy
+yoyoyoshio267 whoa 3edgy5me
Brin Ioca I'm Shadow the Edgehog
yoyoyoshio267 keep your opinions to yourself
Can anyone else see Mara Wilson in a villain role with that evil laugh?
Connor Caldwell totally! Even then, I’d still have a crush on her!
Interesting fact: Mara Wilson is now playing a villain in "Big Hero 6: The Series", Liv Amara.
Kathleen turner you mean
She's a shoe-in for Agatha Harkness.
19:53- Wow, she's almost unrecognizable now. Surprising cameo though, and she still somehow has that certain charm that I found likable in her childhood roles. Mrs. Doubtfire is probably my favorite of her works. That scene with her doing jungle cat faces with Robin Williams gets me every time, plus the part where his makeup comes off after saving Pierce Brosnan and she goes "Daddy". The 1994 Miracle on 34th Street is a close second, as I also enjoyed her banter with Richard Attenborough (God rest him). Overall, Mara Wilson had more talent in my opinion than several child actors today, and she showed it mostly just by being herself :)
Wait a Min.. I GOT THE JOKE!!!! Roy turned into a GIANT RABBI, because Rabbi sounds similar to Rabbit while Giant is the opposite of Tiny. Because the Wand is malfunctioning. Like When Ron's wand was broken in Chamber of secrets
Oooooohhhh okay. Still pretty weird though.
Oh, duh. I was thinking there must be some logic to it, but didn't get it.
Masquerade Yeah it's still pretty stupid....
Its creative, i give them that.
I thought it was obvious and english isnt even my first or second language. Btw frogs=snails lol.
I'm kinda hoping the Nostalgia Critic will review Mathilda one day, with Mara Wilson doing a crossover with him.
Omnicidal Clown Nostalgia Chick talked about Matilda with Mara, so I don't know if Critic will do one.
That would be great!
Omnicidal Clown He wont, he said that he thought about doing a review about it, but the backlash he got from the suggestion made him stay away from it. Check his top movies that he hates that everyone loves video. Its on there and he talks about it.
Ronnoc713 I know. I saw the video, but since he's done Signs and Moulin Rouge, both from that list, plus during his Top 10 movies/TV shows he'll never review, he never mentioned Mathilda.
Omnicidal Clown there's a video he uploaded once, where it's the top 10 movies he'll never do a NC review for, Matilda was on the list
"Hey! It's that guy we know is funny, but is constantly not funny!"
-Adam Sandler
-Bill Murray
-Chevy Chase
-David Spade
Robin Williams?
Alex-Zander Browne He was hit and miss, but that's just an opinion.
yeah adam sandler could be funny. and some of his old movies are....just whst the fuck happened.
Chevy Chase was pretty good in Community.
+ZachTalksMusic 94 You forgot Kevin Hart.
A. I liked A Simple Wish.
B. Seeing Mara Wilson and other special guests just gives Doug that little bit of credibility in his criticisms.
A: a simple wish was absolute unfunny dogshit and I wish I could punch the guy who played him in the face for doing it
B: see above
A: I agree. A Simple Wish is fun to watch, especially when Kathleen Turner is on screen. She’s a riot.
B: yes
Actually, the dance scene does make a bit of sense. Its a reference to the "Red Shoes" where a woman is given enchanted shoes that force her to keep dancing until she dies of exhaustion. Pretty horrifying.
Oh the humanity!
Sweet jesus
Yes, but the horrifying part of the red shoes is that she dances for hours, until she dies of exhaustion. Not that she had one short dance scene. Being a meat-puppet probably isn't a pleasant, but they didn't really convey it that well.
This was my favorite Cameo in the show. Thanks Mara Wilson and NC for making this happen
+Donovan Wilkerson And also Dante Basco and now Don Bluth!
Yeah those are great as well. I don't know why this one is my favorite though (not downplaying those other two cause I'm a fan of bother of their work as well). I just always wanted to see her back again
I went to wikipedia.
Turns out Ms. Wilson was actually herself in this one. I'm scared. :(
dont forget about the
random dude:FUCKING BUBBLES!!!
shat
She's also related to Ben fucking Shapiro which blew my mind ngl
Him going “Yeah that’s right WHAT THE F@?&! AM I LOOKIN AT” has such a great delivery and I keep rewinding to that part
Those childhood videos explain so much, yet so little.
Modern day Mara Wilson has a great voice
If Mara Wilson is ever looking for new ammunition against the Nostalgia Critic, she could always look up "Melvin, Melvin, Brother of the Joker"...
@@KevinLuper99 you don't want know
I think that was awkward on purpose I actually found it funny
God, I wish Mara Wilson made an acting comeback. She's still got it after all these years!
I don't know why but the 50ft rabbi was really funny lol
little rabbit: GIANT RABBI
I like how they just ignore the fact that a 50ft Rabbi is possibly destroying a small town in Nebraska.
Ah it didn't occur to me that rabbi is one letter short of rabbit lol, that explains it a little
Annabelle's teacher: "You're in my classroom! Not the other way around! I know everything! And you...know nothing."
I think Mara Wilson is awesome! I especially love her in Matilda. Great movie. Can't really blame Mara for a bad movie, she does her roles well!
Mara Wilson got hot, like really hot.
Schwing!
Agreed.

she can get it anytime my dude 'u'
Dude she’s like four in the film
Gamer Orp He meant later in the video you dumbass
the whole "I love this mirror" scene didn't actually have any problems from what i can see, I think the critic might've missed the joke on that one. it relates to her character; basically she's saying she loves the mirror because it makes her look better which implies that she's really vane
I also think it's another nod to Snow White, you know, her obsession with being the fairest of them all
She is, clearly. I think you missed that.
It's a classic example of a Chekhov's Gun: something that initially appears unimportant, only to become crucial to the plot later on. Examples include the Mershawn pipe in National Treasure, the cat's collar in Men in Black, and the coins in Larry's pocket in the second episode of Telltale's The Walking Dead.
A big problem I had with NC videos before is how he always makes a big deal out of stuff that isn't a big deal.
***** some might argue that's a critics job
In the 3rd released episode of Demo Reel "Lost in Translation (Bromance Version)" Wilson cameos as Donnie's wife, and in the previous episode it was said they have kids. The Plot Hole made the Nostalgia Critic fuck with Mara Wilson. Literally.
20:45 I... kinda want to see those videos. they look hilarious!
Mara Wilson is was the 90s Shirley Temple. I wonder who's the modern Shirley Temple.
Desmond Is Amazing.
21:00 We are aliens.
Holy shit, it's a Vindaloovian!
Isn't that right, Bhindi Bhaji?
The mirror scene was showing her vanity
It's like me discussing my broken toaster and then staring at a wall and then saying "I hate this wall", it's just so naturel.
"I love this mirror" as in "Because I'm (reflected) in it."
I also thought that was pretty obvious. And then she's literally in it at the end.
Chad Hook it's a movie trope that usually tells the audience that's the person is either pretentious or evil.
+Chad Hook Check out CinemaSins "Everything Wrong With" any movie with someone eating an apple.
+Chad Hook Well...that's what it was TRYING to do, anyway.
Mara Wilson is so awesome and gorgeous!
Ikr
She should get some more movies. I would totally cast her if I were making a dark comedy.
Joshua That would be pretty stellar. If I were a legitimate indie video game designer (which I strive to be) I'd offer her a voice role. I think her experiences involving the great things she's done with her life would enhance more of her acting ability.
Little Green Gamer So would I.
Doug: “F***ing bubbles!”
Manager Doug: “And who is that guy?!”
The dancing isn't inconvenience, ever read the story of the red shoes? They're cursed to make you dance until you die. That's what was happening to Mara and Murray.
I give Mara props for choosing her own path. She’s a good writer too .
Mara Wilson needs to come back and mess with Critic some more.
doug walker as a kid were amature films... mara wilson as a kid had a movie budget... that is a BIG difference
Sweet let's get Macaulay Culkin to do a video with Nostalgia Critic :) wonder what that adorable Rugrat is up to nowadays
:0 He looks worse than Gollum.
Tici Toty Tony Wait till you hear what JonTron called him...
Spike- -Eye Corpseface xD
Tony Lawliet *yeah... drugs did that to him.* That boy had one of the most devastating pubescent teen life the world has ever seen a still-living celebrity go through. Traumatizing to think about actually.
He’s cleaned up and is returning to acting
If he can show up in an AVGN video, he can show up in a NC video too.
Doctor Who that graduated from Hogwarts... I lost my shit. XD
Mara Wilson?! Wow, you really have some clout, Critic. Also, Mara Wilson's a babe AND has a sense of humor; That's awesome!
I wonder if the Critic will ever do a review of "Clifford." ~Insert evil laughter here~
Which one? Clifford or Clifford's really big movie? Or perhaps the curious George trilogy. *CDI Bowser laugh*
21:50 This is where Spoony's "I LIKE WEARING WOMEN'S CLOTHING" in the Alone in the Dark review came from???
That was Doug when he was younger?!
Mathew Godfrey oh yes it was *evil smirk*
"While you're wondering why he looks like Doctor Who if he graduated from Hogwarts..." but Doctor Who did graduate from Hogwarts (David Tennant XD)
what?? Kindly enlighten me
@@MaraMcGuinnes It reference to David Tennant's role in Harry Potter & Goblet of Fire.
Ok loved her before. Love Mara even more now.
This movie will always hold a special place in my heart as rough around the edges it is lol
so...
is knowbody gonna talk about how he got oh, idk
FREAKING MARA WILSON in this review
This was one of my favorite movies as a kid. It would always crack me up. "How dare you mock me?" 😁
Hey Critic, I forgot where I put my car keys...can you help me out here? I didn't bother to remember, I mean that is your job, right?
No matter how many times I hear it, 'fucking bubbles' kills me every single time: literally reduced to tears.
22:03 Her eyes are too kind to be evil in that scene.
13:15-13:44 would've been a good time to pull out the BIG-LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT
22:33 OKAY I won't! Please don't look through my embarrassing home videos. Have mercy Mara Wilson!!!
22:08 Very appropriate use of 'Dracula: The Beginning"!
21:13, you’re welcome.
08:08 "I surprisingly find myself more interested in him getting the part for the play and her connection with him much more interesting than anything else in this movie."
... Something went wrong in that sentence.
doug does that a lot.
The award for ultimate #sickburn goes to Mara Wilson.
NC refers to Martin Short's character as a middle class white American male, but Martin Short is Canadian.
Scythe Seven And probably not middle class.
Kerri Sepulveda Technically, he was born into the upper middle class.
Fun Fact: Mara Wilson was Mrs. Mayflower in Helluva Boss
The canable?
......note to self...dont piss off Mara Wilson....she will destroy you
Or put it in the Critic's words: 10:06
Not much has changed with the critics acting
When it comes to kids' movies and child actors I believe that constructive criticism should apply to every actor at some level as long as it's kept friendly and respectful. Child actors shouldn't be mocked and ridiculed. There is a difference between criticism and cruelty.
Nah, kids mostly suck in everything anyway so let em have it because welcome to the real life, tiny fuck! Now est your cereals!
OMG those young critic clips are amazing!!! these need to be presented to the public every season!!!
dunno if i have a weird sense of humor or what, but i wouldve loved to have known doug when he was younger. those videos made me laugh so hard xD seems like he woulda been a riot to be around
I couldn't stop re-watching that Mara Wilson part at the end.
When I first saw the home movies: ohhhkayyy I feel slightly uncomfortable... When I saw the final one: AAAAAHHHH PLEASE NO GOD HAS COME TO REAP THE SINNERS WERE ALL DOOMED THE APOCALYPSE IS HERE!!!! (Grabs a holy cross) OUT OF THIS HOUSE! OUT OF THIS HOUSE, DEMONS!!!!
This looks $20 more expensive than Thomas and the magic railroad.
Sparkle sparkle sparkle
Gonna be honest, the 50-ft. Rabbi had me roaring with laughter.
Those childhood videos were hilarious and what a great cameo from Mara Wilson. This is another gold one
What the hell was NC filming when he was young?!
I'm still kind of hoping that Mara Wilson returns to Nostalgia Critic for a nice cameo.
14:27 Absolutely!! ZHOOM ZHOOM ZHOOM ZHOOM, *BOOM* !!!!!!!
Fun Fact: a Simple Wish (1997) was Michael Ritchie's last film as a director until his death 4 years later!
Mara Wilson was the cherry on top of this review. Even though I love this movie and I actually enjoyed the review, having her come on and do a review of her own was a wonderful touch. She still has the ability to act as she displayed here which is why I am sure that she should get a dark role in something.
Can we just have Mara Wilson as a recurring in the next season?
I wonder how the conversation to get Mara on the video went...
I mean, she IS the Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives in Your House. You kinda should have expected that power.
But my mayor is not a dragon...
I think you missed the subtext of the "I love this mirror" line. What she's saying is she likes her reflection. It's vanity. But Instead of saying that, she Pretends it's the Mirror she admires.
It's a fairly clever line but it's also basically taken from Snow White where the evil Queen/Witch literally asks a talking mirror who is better looking.
17:00 it’s crazier when you fast forward this hilarious thing!😳🤣🤭😵💫
I thought Mara Wilson was the cutest girl in the universe when I was 6 years old lol.
Do not let Mara Wilson push you around like that!
Oh. My. Fucking. GOD. CRITIC. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING WHEN YOU WERE A KID?
At least you can have a sense of humor about yourself.
17:08
The spiders... they want me to tap dance... I don't wanna tap dance!
Loving all of the old reviews being uploaded, more of the Critic to watch
Mara Wilson turned out so well tbh! I wish more child actors grew up to be like her.
Wow 10 years since this review. Now this is nostalgia.
Thank You so much Ms. Mara Wilson
hold on was that really nostalgia critic when he was a kid?! that can not be him!
19:54 he actually got mara Wilson to do this? impressive
