    Today at your Leeds store I bought this helmet and the RPHA 70. I bought last yr the RPHA 70 but unfortunately i got the small size . After a yr I knew it was just too tight !
    Spent a good hr choosing different types but decided on the RPHA 70 in medium,. Just as i was about to leave I popped on the one in this video . At just £200 I decided on both helmets .

    Interesting to see the different range that HJC are putting out. Will consider this for the wife next year 👍👍 are you doing a Black Friday sale this year?

      Black Friday? The bosses don't let me anywhere near decisions like that (probably for the best!), but I should think there will be a few deals knocking around when the time comes. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

    Sounded good all the way until the headshape 😩

    Ive had an RPHA 11 and an RPHA 70 before. Would it just fit the same?

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Not in my experience, no. I found the fit on those two RPHA helmets to be quite similar and it suited my head shape (round) very well. The F70 was narrower in fit and caused me issues when riding for longer periods of time. I hope this helps. Cheers, Tony

    hello. is it as tight as they say? I have a 58.5 cm head circumference, it is in a helmet size between M and L. I have always bought M, but in this helmet they say that it fits a lot. What do you recommend me?

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Před rokem

      Hi. Sorry for the delayed reply. I'm in a similar position to you - head measurement 59cm but I almost always wear a medium. With this, a medium was the right size for me, but the wrong shape and it wasn't comfortable beyond 20 minutes or so of riding. I didn't feel happy going up to the large, though I have done this with other HJC helmets over the years. I would always suggest starting with the smaller size as your first try-on. And if it's not suitable then go up a size. Better this than to start with the large helmet and think 'that's fine' without knowing if the smaller size was more suitable. I hope that helps. Cheers, Tony

    Why the twin vents on the chin? What's the difference between them?

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I can't say for certain as it's a few years since this review, but it tends to be that the upper vent directs air to the inside of the visor and the lower one brings it through to the mouth. I should think that's the case here too. Cheers, Tony

    Hello! Nice review but I have another question to ask you. It's a noisy helmet or not? Cheers

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Před 2 lety +1

      I didn't consider it noisy in my time wearing it, but these things depend on so many different factors that I can't say it will be the same for all riders. We have 14 customer reviews now for the F70 and F70 Carbon and only two refer to noise, saying they find it quiet. Thanks for getting in touch and I hope that helps a little. Cheers, Tony

    1. For a 60cm round head what size would you suggest ?
    2. Does the sun visor mechanism come in between the regular placement of comm systems ?

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Před 2 lety

      I'd start with the large helmet, but if you are saying your head shape is round then you may struggle as I found the F70's fit a little on the narrow side. I hope this helps. Cheers, Tony

    Does the visor have incremental opening? Does the compression lining compensate, in any way, for the lack of flexibility in the carbon fibre shell?

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Před 2 lety +1

      Realistically, the visor has three positions - fully open, open by a tiny amount for incoming air and then closed and latched shut. There is some resistance designed in as the visor transfers between open and closed, but I think windflow would overcome that resistance and open or close the visor. As for the EPS question, I've contacted the HJC importer to see if they can find out for us. I'll update when I hear back. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Před 2 lety +2

      The answer to your EPS question came back sooner than I expected... In a word, it's 'nope'. In slightly expanded format it reads: "There is no performance difference between the carbon construction and normal shell, so nothing to compensate for." I hope that answers your question, Jim. Cheers, Tony

    How is the American version not ece?

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Před 2 lety

      Sorry, if you're asking for an opinion on the U.S. version then I'll have to rely on any owners from the States chipping in here. Cheers, Tony

      Standard F70 (fiberglass shell) version is ECE/DOT rated, the Carbon model is DOT only. Not sure why, perhaps it just wasn't submitted to the organization that certifies for ECE rating. SNELL has been around a long time in the States, but personally I wouldn't buy a SNELL, they are too tough and transmit too much energy to the head in impact, also lately the SNELL rating has become rather controversial in that it means much less than it once did (check out Fortnine's video on SNELL). I can't imagine the Carbon helmet being worse than the fiberglass version, as they are the same design otherwise. Difference would be in how CF affects impact forces vs. FG.
      One thing I hope HJC develops is some kind of rotational slip plane for their interiors (MIPS or something similar).

    • @heypresta
      @heypresta Před 10 měsíci

      It just depend on whether they've paid for that testing or not. But be aware the actual construction of helmets can differ between markets (particularly the US, as the DOT testing system is very basic and easy to pass, so manufacturers cheap-out).

    Is this a noisy helmet?

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Před rokem +3

      We don't cover it in detail in our reviews because noise levels depend on so many variable factors that what is quiet for me may be terrible for you, and vice versa. What I can say is that nine of the 20 customer reviewers describe the F70 Carbon as 'quiet' or 'reasonably quiet' and none call it loud. I hope that helps. Cheers, Tony

      Thanks for the suggestion. We'll have a think about that and see if it's something we should be doing for every video, or at least when it seems particularly noteworthy. Cheers, Tony
