Honestly this was one of the best civ games. The plays, the betrayals, and oh god all the salt. Absolutely amazing.
Did you see the Jingle Jam Civ stream? Perhaps contains my favourite moment of all time, when Daltos and Duncan allied to attack lewis and were so confident they were going to crush him. watching their attack get turned back so easily by Lewis was the funniest thing i ever saw.
And Daltos. Absolute gem!

I love that Daltos was well aware of what he was doing at the end. The pause to figure things out was amazing.

Man, Rythian's coup d' etat was a masterstroke of genius. This whole game, unbeknownst to everyone, he waited and schemed his way to victory in one, fell, swoop.
If only.
This has probably been one of the best Wars in Yogscast Civ history. It was really tight for a long time, and in the end, it was economics that led to the downfall of Japanese-Mongolian-Mega-Alliance, which is probably the most realistic thing to happen in a Yogscast Civ game.
Also, Daltos has rightfully earned the title of "Boat King"!

It was a bit of a marathon but definitely the best civ game you guys have ever done. It was up in the air for so long

On larger maps, XCOM squads can't go anywhere on the map. They have a limit of 100 tiles
Lewis and Daltos win and Lewis officially wins. This game was canon. Lewis's honor hasn't been shamed because he did everything in his power to make Daltos win. It was Daltos who ultimately made the slip up. Also this was one of the best civ seasons and I hope you guys (bring back Pyrion and Sips for an All Stars game with the general crew) will be back for more.
I think Daltos is in the right to fuck it over if he wants, because by all means, Lewis was dead until Daltos switch back to lewis. That being said, I think it would have been a closer last few turns if Ben had focused on just razing the citys lewis made boats from, then go for Daltos, and duncan just sitting his fleet there and not burning down the citys that lewis could build boats from as well, and hiting Daltos from the otherside. and If they didn't fuck up by destroying all there trade routes they could have won. Really enjoyable either way and hopefully we get another good game like this next year.
I agree with Donuts, and yes Lewis was dead until the Daltos switcharoo, but it was all based on an honor pledge by Lewis to make Daltos win. This game was kinda the first to have "actual stakes" (note the airquotes)
Imagine a 10 player Marathon Civ 5 game, they'd be playing until next year's Jingle Jam

Daltos Brexxited out of his victory
For all Ben and Duncan's petty digs about Lewis's diplomacy, at the end of the day they broke THEIR pact and lost THEIR game at the end too. Ben nuked Duncan, declaring war on his forever peace ally.
They didn't intentionally break their pact though. Ben nuked off the coast of one of Duncan's cities and accidentally destroyed a fishing boat or something stupid like that and "declared war" because of it.

I agree. I think Duncan and Ben rubbed it in Lewis's face a little too much, considering Daltos actively worked against his own interests. I just wanted to point out that the pact violations weren't intentional.

Easily my favorite game. If daltos didn't switch to Lewis, this game would've sucked but the constant switch and the balance of power really made this amazing
Easily one of my favourite yogscast civ 5 games, I enjoyed the no tradition thing because it made the game so much longer and more interesting leading to the first time out victory in the history of yogscast civ 5 (even if it is non-canon.) definitely a game to remember.
I haven't watched the full episode yet, but the easiest way for Daltos to win after they became peace locked is still for Lewis to give him all his cities?? How hard can it be

There's an easy way to counter X-Coms. All you need to do is build all of the defensive buildings and spam bazookas.

My current game I'm trying to bully an AI player to give me a city, so I could wait with the big warmongering penalties. It's only taken me from early medieval era to mid industrial.
I should have long just taken it instead, but now I have to make this happen.

Lewis wins, in that he has the win screen, which means he doesn't win because he said Daltos would get it. So while this SHOULD end up in a "Lewis kicks butt again" column, this win clearly goes to the bees. BEES WIN!

There’s a good horror game that Tom or Simon would like called “Lost In Vivo” I think Simon would have a blast with it

Spoiler: I'm glad Lewis won I got tired of people ganging him because people acted stupid early game and u also notice the constant shit talking from Ben and Duncan as they hit there nukes but the second it got dished out to them they cried meanwhile Lewis was nuked and manned on (I'm aware he had lots of land but he worked for it Ben and Duncan had the same opportunity but harder still it was early game) I am aware I have written a long ass para but I got tired of hearing the same shit in this series and all series major respect to daltos but in the end well played by Lewis and this is by far my favourite civ series well done gents p.s I don't usually go for Lewis but after the first session it felt right to do it

It's their own fault for not pressing the advantage they had. Hey we managed to completely destroy their navies and have a huge fleet, let's retreat back to our own shores instead of atacking Daltos who only has coastal cities. If they had pressed their advantage they could crippled the naval construction capabilities for their enemies and basically kept naval dominance forever. Instead they sent their ships home and only used them to escort nukes.

That being said Sjin and Daltos probably aren't the best players for viewers that want to see serious games where everyone tries to win. Also Sjin spent the majority of the time complaining about how terrible of game Civilization 5 is and that definitely wasn't enjoyable to watch in my opinion.

Most people played this game well, bare Duncan who was basically trying to hand the game to Ben without realizing it. It kind of made me salt hearing the "no you didn't win" shit at the end as it just came off as being a sore loser
Yeah but tbf daltos was toady for most of the game handing lewis the game and the means to win. He had a short, uneventful war which im sure would be used as an argument against my point but this was a bad game of civ. It was essentially teams the whole way without official teams. Imo all of them were bad but atleast ben and duncan were making it look like they were gonna fight eachother for the win. I think lewis and daltos are still dishonorable and Idk if anyone noticed but daltos kindof pulled a sjin from the start and decided he didnt want to win.
@@IncoherentSchizo I think Ben and Duncan had it, if they played smarter by crippling lewis boat production, then focusing Daltos while he was recovering his fleet. Duncan just play defence and never try to take out the citys that could make carriers to nuke him. The only threat after would be rythians lands, but that would only be after Nuclear Subs came into play. Not to mention them destroying each other trade route fucked themselfs even harder.

Its a really gamey play and keeping with daltos trolling, he went back on his word and can never be trusted in civ again. I like lewis mostly but this was gamey af having daltos hand him the win. I think it is kind of karma that daltos turned on his word lol. Cosmic vengeance for teaming.

Canada was just announced for civ 6. The civ is mostly for diplomatic and cultural victories, Crybabia has found a new civ to play.

Dishonrable lewis. But this was the best game of civ ever. The naval combat and the full wartime effort was amazing. Next game you guys should ban the same policies.

One of the parties defaulted on the deal, and that party was not Lewis. Daltos failed on so many levels, which for my part is viewed a a breach of agreement. With that as it was Lewis loses no honor from the other part being uterly incompetent to see the deal to fruition.
