  • Betty is interviewed on Hank Weaver's radio program "Hollywood Byline," originally broadcast April 27, 1950. Rather candid for the time, Betty discusses her upbringing, career, life as a mother, relationship with her sister, her first marriage and divorce, future ambitions, and much more in this 30 minute press conference!
Also on the panel is Sidney Skolsky (New York Post), Lloyd Sloan (Hollywood Citizen News and Movie Life Magazine), Darr Smith (Los Angeles Daily News), and Michel Novak (Philadelphia Bulletin), who also discuss, among other things, that television will never replace newspapers, and that television will be a boon for actors when pictures will someday be made just for television.

It’s so awesome to hear Betty give an interview during her career. We get lots of insight into her ideas at the time. She’s the bomb!

This is incredible! Great questions and very honest answers from Betty. Twenty eight years later when Betty appeared on the MIke Douglas show she again was again asked about being a director and producer. She pretty much had given up on the idea whereas in this interview Betty was pretty confident about going into producing and directing. It is also interesting to hear them discussing the comparison between the new technology of Television and the movie industry.
